Official 2013 Tinker Bell Half Marathon Thread

Corral info for Tink: Was hoping they would be nudged into posting it sooner, or that she'd give me some basic info. So I emailed trackshack. Got this reply:

Thank you for contacting us. Under the Runner Info tab on the www.rundisney.com event site, we will be posting a corral assignments section just after the waivers download link. I was told this should be listed by middle of next week.

So no corral info until next week folks!

I can't wait for Tink. I've never been to DL. I'm going for C2C, just have to cross the marathon finish line first.

Yay! Either of you ladies that are in so far have any suggestions for a location?

I'm easy with whatever someone comes up with. Any thoughts on the time since that could effect where we end up? It will be a busy weekend.

I'm getting into LAX around 915am, shuttling to Anaheim (which reminds me I haven't booked my Super Shuttle yet...must get on that!), dropping my bags at the hotel and heading straight to packet pick up...after that I'm free for the rest of the day so really I'm available at any time. indygirl99--what's your availability?

:yay: Who else wants to join us? :yay:

I may be able to join you ladies! I'm driving up from AZ in the early AM, I want to shoot to get there around 2-3 pm. I'm staying with a friend in LA that first night but I wanted to head to the expo first when I get there. So if I stay in that area I wouldn't mind grabbing a bite later with you guys, then heading over to my friends afterwards. I'm no help with figuring a place to eat though. I don't know what they have to offer :(.

great!

as far as where...I only have been to a handful of the places in/around the parks, DTD, and the Disney hotels. I don't really know my way around outside of that unfortunately. There's a italian place in DTD that I've been to if we're interested in doing a little carbing :) (I think it's Naples or Napoli or something like that...) I wouldn't mind trying to get an ADR somewhere once we know how many would like to go and decide on a location. Or if anyone wants to suggest something inside of one of the parks, I'm good with that too. I think the only place I've dined at table service inside the park is Wine Country over at DCA. (I can bring in up to 3 guests with me if park tickets are an issue with anyone...just let me know)

I'm not buying park tickets, so I would probably have to hop aboard and be a guest if we do something inside. I chose to opt out of the park because I'm already going two other times next year, so much disney (but never enough at the same time :D). I've been to that italian place and from what I remember it was pretty good! The only other restaurant I know that's in DTD is Rain Forest Cafe. I'm sure there are a ton of others, but those are the only two places I've been to there haha.

Okay, I was trying to go back and fully understand this bib discussion. But I'm not sure I do...

I went to check my waiver, and I'm 6894. I didn't send a request for time with this one, so I would assume this is in the back corrals? I'm bringing my proof of time to move up corrals, but I figured this number was really low! When I did the DL half I was 11784 with no proof of time. I wasn't running with a group or anything. So is it because this is a smaller race than the DL half? I don't understand this whole bib situationnnn! :confused3

I seriously cannot believe how much time has flown by for this race! It's SO SOON!! AHHH! Get excited, ladies!! :woohoo:

My thoughts on the bib- yes, race is smaller. Plus there are less men, so less faster times. This will move you up just because of this. And I think the Disney races attract a lot of new runners or walkers. Seems to be a lot of walkers in Disney races.

In princess or Tink, the same time will usually land you farther up in corrals than the more mixed gender races.

Catal is another good choice in DTD. Napolini is the to go side of Naples. I'm really not a fan of Rainforest so would prefer one of the other choices for DTD. As for in park I have never eaten at Wine County so will have to defer to others on if they are good or not.

I am coming in on thursday so anytime friday works for me.

I doubt you are in the back corral. There are 13000+ runners from the program and my bib is 10888 so no way for back of the pack for you. You are probably in the middle. The program shows corrals A-E. I am hopping for D for me but I have a 10K proof of time that might move me up to D if I am in the back of the pack. I want that extra 5 minitues or so as a cushion.

My bib # 6299 and we will not be in the last corral. I'm sure it will be somewhere in the middle. For the inaugural Tink my bib # was pretty much in the middle and I was in corral C.

I'm already starting to put things away for packing. :cool1::cool1:

Bib 3111 here! So stoked to hopefully be in one of the first corrals!

Is it just me, or does there seem to be more in park running this year than there was last year?

Another option at DTD is the Mexican place Tortilla Jo's. Can you carb load on chips and salsa ?? Ha ha

The Earl of Sandwich has also opened up in DTD. I have not been but it's suppose to be the same as the one at WDW.

Decisions decisions !

Yes...I was comparing the two maps and we are in the parks more.

I was looking at the pictures from the first Tink and this is what I could find for the bib ranges. Since there are more runners this time the ranges will change, but it gives us an idea of how many are in each corral.

Corral...Range..........Runners
A..........1-2500..........2500
B..........2501-4381.....1881
C..........4382-6475.....2094
D..........6476-8500.....2025
E..........8500+...........3500

Oh yeah, I have eaten at Tortilla Jo before and Catal that indygirl mentioned. I enjoyed both of those. For the countless times I've been to WDW, I've still never eaten at Earl of Sandwich...but I hear its supposed to be pretty good.

I really like Tortilla Joes. We had our first Earl of Sandwich experience during the Wine and Dine weekend. We really liked it. We were staying at SSR so we walked to DTD and ate there several times while we were there. Good food and good prices.

Hey all, any words of wisdom? Waiting to hear back from my TA, who is of course closed for the holidays, but it sounds like they may have cancelled our hotel reservation because of a clerical error on their end. I am beside myself. Other than waiting for them to get back and confirm the situation, any thoughts? I just booked everything through the folks recommended on the Run Disney site (or whoever auto-emailed me after I registered) -- naive, but it was my first time :( Since I am traveling with DH and my two small kiddos, if we can't stay at DLR, we are pretty much hosed and might need to cancel.

I am sorry to hear about that happening to you !!! If it is your TA fault they should correct this problem and make things right. The good news is there are SO many hotels in the area I'm sure you will be able to find one. It might not be in walking distance but maybe you can find one that has a shuttle to the parks. I hope your TA will correct their mistake and fix the problem for you. You should not have to canc. just due to a mistake that someone else made.
I hope everything works out !!!! Keep us posted.
