My boys (7 and 4) were excited about the prospect of the kids races, until I told them that there wasn't a Mickey Mile. "Dad, those other races are too short!" Future distance runners? :thumbsup2

Awesome! :)

I signed up last night. I will be doing the DDD and planning on getting my C2C. I signed my boyfriend up for the half as well. Woo who. I am very excited about it all. It will be first trip to DL. I am doing the Princess next month. It will be my first race ever. Might as well just in feet first...right? :thumbsup2

Really really bummed. I got to my desk at 1pm CST because our meeting ran late and got all the way to the end to hitting "go" and got the "its sold out" error message :(

Anyone care to speculate as to how runDisney might handle these races next year? It seems they've set themselves up for a real mess going forward. Price increase? Forgo presales? Eliminate the 10k? Entries given by lottery? I shudder to think where this is going to go.

I would guess a price hike and more spots. I dont think it will sell out as quickly next year (maybe a full 24 hours). I think inaugural races draw higher demand. Just speculation though.

Prices will continue to increase until people stop purchasing a product. It's simple supply and demand.

I would look at the charities - perhaps they have slots. You'd have to fundraise but it would be for a good cause.

Agreed. Also an inaugural race would tend to draw more interest in my opinion. I would imagine next year, the frenzy wouldn't be so intense.

I am in for the DDD:cool1:. My DD and her BFF are doing the 10k. DH signed us up just after AM. Love that man:lovestruc This will be my first Disney race.
Now he will be looking in to cheer packages. Do they sell out fast?

Ugh, I'm on the fence for the 1/2. Said I wanted to do C2C just now sure this will be the best time....another child starting college this fall. I can't believe they are at 80% already! The Princess didn't go that quickly. Wow.

What to do, what to do....someone needs to push me over the fence here!

This is the type of online registration one day sellout that I'm used to with Ironman events, but those are restricted to ~3000 people... If the half is over 60% full that means they're probably over 10,000 registrations already!

Just goes to show, they still haven't hit their price ceiling... :duck:

Exactly...and I just posted something similar on the FB page.
In fact, there have been Ironman races that have filled up with onsite registration the year before (between racers and volunteers) and NO online registration ever opened. (Mostly this applies to IM Canada back in the day...you HAD to register in person the year before.)

So....there were opportunities to sign up early (race expos, Disney Visa holders)....and the registration opened at a specified time per the website. SAME thing.
Active.com servers acting up...SAME thing.
Prices going up year after year after year...SAME thing!

We've seen these trends. Heck, I remember when my first Ironman cost $325!! :lmao:

I will be DDDing, however, my race partner couldn't register for it and will be doing the half with me.

Insanity if these races all sell out before the end of the week

We've stayed at the DLH - premium view standard room and LOVED it. Staying there this year too. Have stayed at GC and PPH standard room too. Never concierge though. What do you get for that? Snacks, food, drinks?

Yup! Snacks, food and drinks! And thank you for your input!!

Anyone else have any input...price aside, PPH concierge or DLH standard? Considering factors of niceness, location vs extra snacks, etc?

Same here! I love how the Princess will be my first half ever, I've never raced in anything longer than a 10K, and yet today I impulsively went ahead and registered for the DDD! I have clearly lost my damn mind. :confused3

However...it'll be my first visit to DL, too. And for that, I am VERY EXCITED! :cool1:

Well... BFF and I are in for the half. She registered us tonight... We got scared that it would sell out lmao.

Now, to decide what to do about lodging... I really wanted to stay at DL Hotel but Get Travel's prices are much higher than they were last year. :( Boo.

Im betting there is a Goofy Challenge in your future

I'm in for DDD! Registered last night with the Disney Visa early reg. So glad I did! I had to work today and by the time I got to look at the runDisney site DDD and the 10K were sold out. This will be our first time to DL too. Now to figure out where to stay and how long to go for. Oh, and I guess I should let DH know that we are all going on this little adventure.

This will be my year of Disney races. Just did my first WDW marathon (first marathon ever), second Princess, and now DDD. Hoping to do Goofy in 2014. Yup, I've drank too much of the kool aid!!!

I'm planning to do the 10k next year (and maybe even the Dumbo depending on how my legs handle training!), so I'm subbing in to keep an eye on what happens this year! Will be interesting to see what happens with the registrations - we'll be coming from Australia so won't have the option to pre-register, and don't want to miss out :scared:
