I've yet to receive the e-mail from them, BUT YAY!! This is awesome news!! THANK YOU SO MUCH, PRINCESSES! We'll be takin' over DC!

To those of you who have signed up, I'll put together a mass e-mail so we know who all is going. I know someone was inquiring on maybe rooming together to save money, for those who are interested you can get in contact easier that way. I won't be participating in that because my friend has one paid for her so I'm bunkin' up with her :).

I owe you all hugs! I haven't forgotten! :cheer2::grouphug:

Just got my email.:cheer2: :grouphug:

Not sure who is more excited me or DH. He is so very happy to be going to DC with someone who will allow him to spend more than 30 mins there. pirate:

Your name seems to be on our team list, so as long as your credit card went through, you should be in! If you can check your credit card for a charge today, that should be the proof if you don't have an email yet.

I've made a new thread for us to talk all things Nike Women's DC. See you over there! http://www.disboards.com/showthread.php?p=46913214#post46913214

I am so excited! I really didn't think we would get in! Thank you for posting about it and setting up the group!

We can set up a Facebook group page

I live in Alexandria so if you all have questions..

Yes, let's make a FB page. I love the DIS but FB is so much easier for these things!

I just found this group for the Princess Half. This will be my first time running the princess, but it will be my 3rd half marathon and 2nd Disney race as my hubby and I ran the ToT 10 miler this year.

Little nervous for the half as the weather and my work are not cooperating with my training, but I'm out to have some fun!

Thanks for letting me join the conversation here!

Melanie

Bethany, I've been stalking my credit card all day. Our DIS Princess team is IN to NWMDC!

:cool1::cool1::cool1:

Start training!

Cate

:cool1::cool1::cool1: I'm so glad you guys got in!! I seriously considered joining you (since I live nearby), but decided I couldn't commit not knowing what my future would hold with my foot issues. I am a bit worried that the Princess might be the last big race I can do if I can't get this under control. I am cleared to start running again, but am struggling mentally to get back out there. I have jogged several 1:1 rounds with the dog and it feels good, so hopefully soon I can get back "into it"!

Welcome!! There is a good bunch here who are great with support!

I like the idea of a FB page! I was attempting to set up a page but apparently you need to add friends to it to make it work.. and I'm not friends with any of you guys! I think I only need one other person to start it, so if someone wants to friend me, that'd be bomb :). I'm Beth Skelly on there (also in the disney princess group on there if that's helpful.)

I got my e-mail later today, so hooray! As long as one got chosen - we are all in. So woo hoo!

Here is the facebook page for the Nike group please pass it along in the email so we don't clutter up the PHM thread. Also there is a thread a couple of posts back about a DISBoards group as well.

Welcome Melanie !!!!

I didn't see that the thread got locked. I couldn't understand why no one was posting. I have missed hearing what everyone is doing. You all inspire me. I just walked my first organized 5k. It was a jingle bell run. I did ok. I finished and I wasn't last. I did learn I have lots of training to do before my first half marathon. But I will be ready for the 2014 Princess. Also I learned that although tutus are really really cute, they don't work for me. I don't like it touching my arms when I walk. I am looking into Sparkle skirts. I also want to thank everyone who sent me thinking of you when my father passed away a couple of months ago. It gets a little easier everyday. Now I have 13 pages to read, so that I am caught up.

I am just so happy that I found you all again. Good luck to all on any upcoming events.

Hi Melanie - welcome! I did the TOT this year, too... and I'm really looking forward to a long Disney race that ISN'T in the dark, damp jungle-like conditions of a Florida September night! :rotfl:

I finished and I wasn't last.
:thumbsup2 Those are always my first two goals of any race - finish and not be last! Congrats :cheer2:

Ugh, I'm so sorry that so many of us are feeling icky - sending good thoughts for speedy recoveries! :wizard:

I'm still cranking along - still no debilitating pain as I increase my short run mileage and speed. Hooray! I think I've got a race outfit mostly together at this point, including throw-down stuff to stay warm pre-race and for the first couple miles. I'll post pics once it's all together!

Hi Princesses! I too was lost/confused about the lack of activity on the old thread and spent the last few days catching up on this new one. Sounds like lots of ups and downs all around; but so many inspiring posts and positive attitudes too :)

Having been put on "no exercise for 72 hours" from the doc due to an internal injury and recently having had some hip/shin problems, I'm so inspired by all you ladies triumphing over injury and colds. I leave for family vacation on Friday and have zero idea how I'll get in my workouts while I'm away but thanks to you guys, I now feel better that I'll be able to get back on track and be trained in time no matter what happens.

Sometime ago I thought I read on this thread a way to still register for a race that had closed. It isn't for the PHM. I was making arrangements for the Blues 1/2 in Jackson, MS. and then today I saw it is full. Bummer. Any ideas?

Hi princesses. *wave*

I fought the ick in my lungs and went out for a run this morning. I only went 8.5kms so no where near what I need to be doing at this point but it was my first run in 3 weeks and it felt so good to be out there.

I was so thankful that my body seemed able to still run that distance without a whole lot of effort but my lungs - oh my poor lungs - they felt like they were going to explode.

Guess the ick lives on. Feeling much better now though. Next run will be longer so I can get back on my feet for Tink then the Princess.

Sometimes charities (like Team in Training, for example) will purchase a block of spaces for a race so that people can register to do that race with the charity and raise money. In that instance, I believe you register through the charity at whatever their registration fee is and then there is normally a minimum amount that you have to pledge to fundraise as well...if you don't meet the minimum by race day you agree to be charged the difference...at least that's how they normally work. So, if you can find a charity that is running the race, alot of times they will still have spaces available in their group after the race has sold out to individual participants.

Good for you for getting out there! I think I'm finally on the mend too...went back to the doctor tuesday and was switched to some different meds. This has been one crazy sinus infection! I'm actaully just starting to feel alot better today...the most annoying thing though is that my ears are still stuffy...hopefully that gets worked out here in the next day or two. I should be able to get back out there this weekend and give it a go. Thinking about shooting for a 5 miler, but we'll see how that goes. To get me in a better frame of mind, I finally got around to ordering the little iron on that I want for my race day shirts for Tink and Princess yesterday. Still waiting on my tutu's/skirts for both of those races...they are both promised to me by the end of the month.

So, is it bad that I haven't run in 3 weeks...and I really don't miss it?? :rotfl2:

Well, I just CANNOT kick this stuff :sad2: I don't seem to have gotten any better since I saw a doctor (well, actually a nurse) last week. At that time, I could not get in to see my normal doctor, so I went to one of those "Take Care Clinics" in Walgreens...which I've done before with no problems, but I've never had a sinus infection last this long and be this bad. I have an appointment with my regular doctor tomorrow now...I'm afraid that with all the fluid that's been in my ears since last week that I'll get an ear infection too so I'm hoping they can do something else for me tomorrow. I'm so clogged up in my head, I feel like I'm walking around with ear plugs in...it's terribly annoying! So, that means I did NOT get out this saturday to run. Tinker Bell is right around the corner and I'm freaking out about this! My BF is running a 5 miler today after work and we carpooled together today, so I'm thinking I'll go to the park with him and, if nothing else, try to walk a couple of miles at least. I feel like I have to do something!

It doesn't help that we're having roller coaster weather...it was in the low 80's yesterday...40's today, possible 30's tonight. And it seems to just keep going up and down, up and down every week. UGH! On the bright side, my cats are seriously taking advantage of the extra cuddle time with me on the couch lately...it's cute!

I've got the ick now to and agree with you on this roller coaster weather in TX! I swear San Antonio can't decide if it is 80 or 40!

So I haven't run in 3 weeks.

Well, I went for one shorty 5.5kms run but thats it.

I've had a bug that I just can't shake. I'm so exhausted that even having a shower leaves me winded and I'm all congested and my chest is full of gunk too. 3 weeks. Ug.

I have Tink coming up soon and I'm panicking that I'm not going to be able to do it. :sick:

I too am getting ansy about PHM in 2 months having this horrible chest cold. I did do a 4 mi walk on the treadmill at a 13:20 pace so if all fails I just walk the D*** thing. The way I feel right now my goals is to be two steps ahead of the balloon lady! :banana:

Can't blame you for not missing the run...I'm still waiting on that "runner's high" everyone talks about! Keep thinking I'll get my aerobic capacity better and then colds etc happen! :sad1:

A special thanks to Cripey, PrincessV, momhmmy2, sav418, Miss lindy, EEslovedis, tinkergal and debbieandroo (and I'm sure I've forgotten somebody!)for your kind words, prayers, wishes on the unexpected death of my Greyhound Marilyn last week. I TRULY could feel all the prayers coming my way. Big hugs to all of you! We did get her test results back and she died from a rat poison called Diphacinone. It is referred to as a second generation poison meaning the rat or mouse can eat it then an animal (or person!) can come in contact with the fecal matter or residual poison and die. We don't put anything out and I'm thinking positively my neighbors don't either.

I hear you! I am slowly working my way back into running and while I do enjoy those moments I am running, the cold isn't making me want to get back out there! I signed up for some virtual races, so hopefully the bling there will help my motivation. (that and the tight Run Disney shirt I bought, LOL!)

I'm sorry for your loss. It's scary to think a dog can eat a rat and get sick or die from it. {{hugs}}

For those who ran the TOT, Brightroom send me an email that digital photos are 10% with code Digital10. I looked for the TOT thread, but I think it is gone now.
