Michelle,

"So nothing is confirmed 100% (because there was some conflicting info given) but I think it might give you an idea on where the corrals are broken down.

A corral: finish before 2 hours.
B corral: 2:01-2:30 projected time.
C corral: 2:31-2:50
D corral: 2:51- 3:00
E corral: 3:00- ???
F corral: 3:30 finishers"

Since you only need proof for 2:45 or faster, I think your 1:20 would be about 2:50 1/2 so the 1:20 might get you in corral C, but for sure in D and no proof needed. If you get to the 1:17 or 1:16 10k, you should submit for a 2:40 1/2 with proof for Corral C for sure. I think for those on the cusp of a corral, it would depend on how many submitted times and how many they want in a corral, it could push you up or down a letter.

Something to keep in mind, even if you submit a proof of time for a 1:20 10k, you could still estimate your finish as 2:45. Princess is still over 5 months away, so if you are running a 1:20 10k now, then you should continue to get faster making a 2:45 finish time totally understandable. I asked a similar question about proof of time for the marathon since all I had to submit at the time was a 2:20 1/2 finish, but estimated my finish as 4:30 for the marathon. I think rundisney wants to see that you've run a time that is close to what you estimate your finish, and they probably aren't too into the mathematics.

I did 7.5 today and until I hit 3 miles, I was really struggling. It's humid today thanks to the storms that passed through over night, and I had a bit of a sour stomach at the beginning. Thank goodness for my music. "Did a Little Deeper" from PatF hit at 3 and I finally found a rhythm, then at around 6 miles "Holding Out For a Hero" from Shrek 2 came up. That has a great beat and perked me up and I was able to finish strong. Part of my brain tried to talk me out of the run many times between miles 2 and 3, and that's the first I've felt lousy at the start. But it's done, and the next long run is in 2 weeks. I'll only do about 4 miles next weekend.

You guys are THE BEST support! Thanks for allowing me to vent my frustration and for the great advice. I may just blow off the idea of a Nov. half (since I haven't signed up yet) and focus strictly on the princess for now. There is another half here in Atl in March, so if the princess goes well, I can shoot for the March one while I am still at that distance.

tinker Amy,

I totally feel you being excited to get a 1/2 under your belt. As a new runner, I have gotten excited and contemplated both big 1/2's in October, even thought of the Zooma one in November and of course the Thanksgiving 1/2. But I too am going to scale back and start my training in November. I will do some more 10k's to keep the excitement going. I have paid money to Princess and this is a big deal so I dont want to risk injury. As hard as it is, I am going to be kind to my middle aged body and take it easy.

I am glad you all are trying to recruit another mommy. I literally went to my 6 weeks post partum check up and got the clear from my doctor and have not looked back. This was my 6th child and I never was a runner. So tell you friend that it can be done. A lot of planning and patience!!

I suggest this as well. My DH said after I run a 5k I can sign up for the princess, so I am doing the Halloween 5k in two weeks. It will also give you perspective on how you will do, and micro goals can help. My husband was worried about the money if it turned out I gave up, and me biting off more than I could chew and disappointing myself. He did admit after I ran 4 mi in under an hour that he didn't think I'd even be able to do the 5K, so proving him wrong was pretty awesome :P

Good luck with the 5k. I did that one last year when I started seriously considering a Disney half. My parents did the W&D relay so we made it a quick family weekend. I did the 5k to get use to the atmosphere and I love the bling :thumbsup2 In fact, my parents were jealous about the shirt and bling they gave out last year for the 5k. They didn't like the W&D shirt design at all.

Thanks for finding all the info for me gang!

Just finished my 10k race and did it in 1:16! Super happy with that. Now if you will excuse me I'm going to go puke, shower then pass out....... :)

Last year's princess was my first (and only) half, but I DID kind of want to get a non-Disney half in just to see what my "real" time is - you know, where I won't be stopping for pictures every 5 minutes!! Of course, there is also the lure of the shiny; I want another medal!!!

Congrats on the kid AND getting back into shape! What a great example for your kids. It's never too late to try something new!

Just wanted to introduce myself as I'm new here.

I'll be running the Princess Half with you all in February. Technically this is my second Disney race as I did the Tower of Terror 5k two kids ago. I work full time and am the mom to four great kids - which leaves me with limited training time. I've been back in training since the beginning of August and have my first 10k coming up 10/1/11. Then I'll start into the Galloway plan.

Today's run was pretty good as we've had fabulous weather today (70F) - 5 miles with an 11:30 pace.

This seems to be an amazing forum and I look forward to cheering you all on through your training. If anyone lives in the Charleston, SC area - let me know as I'd love to have a run buddy for my long runs.

I came across this thread today and I'm very excited to be running Princess 2012 as my first half. :)princess:

Thanks to everyone for making me feel so good! I had been training for a month today. I went and bought some awesome new running shoes. Went to the track and sadly measure the time of my first magic mile. It was hard to look at the time. It took me 17:50 to finish a mile. :sad1: I hope a can get much better with time. But Im not going to quit!!

Hang in there. You will get faster.

Yep, I agree, hang in there. I was a "non runner" and my first time I tried to run a mile it was almost a 14:00. Now 5 months later, today I ran my fastest mile of my 10k at 10:45.

Just remember, one foot in front of the other...... Congratulations on making a good choice for YOU!

Dig deep,
michele

Thank you for posting your time - that is about my mile time as well - I swear I am the slowest runner and it doesn't seem to get any easier and I am not getting any faster. I get frustrated, but keep plugging away, I'm hoping it gets better :thumbsup2

Ladies when I started walking in the late winter, I was at your timing, last week 15:23/m and that is mostly walking. Keep training and you will get to at least the 16:00/m. I am only hoping for 15:00/m so I can get a few photos. Hmmm...perhaps we are building the WISH corral E/F team :).

Now that it's getting cooler, what kind of running attire do you all have for the chillier temps? Today was sweatshirt and jean weather here. I was hoping to get a run in, but didn't make it. I think I might have been too cold with just shorts.

This morning on my run it was in the 50's and gray. I wore running Tights under my running skirt, and a SS top with arm warmers. I got my arm warmers as a freebie from a race, and they were so nice to have. I planned to take them off when I warmed up, but ended up leaving them on the whole time. I'm very cold natured, so I tend to dress warmer than others. I passed lots of runners who were in capris or shorts and tee's.

60's here today, I did a 2 mile walk to the grocery store, in yoga pants and tee, started with a sweater but took it off. I will try the tech skort and tee for the long run in the morning.
