Way to go Pixie! I submitted 1:12 for a 10k last year and was put in Coral B...thinking I was on the bubble.

Those bondis are SO cute...can't wait to get mine.

I have been a bad runner this past week....um that is not a runner at all. I have the excuses...PMS, tough week of the year for me - grief related, its hot, I'm lazy...blah blah blah. I will be SO happy when this heat and humidity passes as there is nothing more mind clearing and uplifting for me than a morning run.....well not when its like SO humid as it is now. And seriously, the exercise lifts my moods...I am thinking lack of it contributed to the funkiness of last week.

Anyhoo, you princesses are doing great! Even in my blah, you motivate me. I am back on it this week. I want to finish this race strong and just need to put in the miles...and I am NOT going to worry about speed and this year slow things down on the long runs like I am supposed to. I do have a 5K in a few weeks i need to prepare for as well. Happy running!

Don't worry about an "off" week, honey! I was pretty bad last week too which is why I'm shocked I did a decent job in the 10K!! It was high-stress, anxiety taking over kinda crap, so I understand! Don't kick yourself, you'll get back on track!!

Off weeks are just a rest - something your body needs and will tell you when to take. I took a few weeks off about a month ago and even though I felt like I was starting from the beginning, found it only took me a few weeks to get back up to my max long runs (5-6mi). Enjoy this time off and know it gives you a physical and mental break as well!!

Anytime!! We all start somewhere and believe me, you will get up to the distance before you know it. I still can't believe some days that I can knock out 10 miles and be completely fine the next day.

You wil definitely be able to kick it up. The key is to do your long runs 1-2 min slower, and then do the short runs at race pace. Fashionista already said the reasons why. :)

I only did one or two of my long runs outside when training for my first Princess, and none of the short runs. Now I do all of my long runs outside, even the days it is over 100 here, but I train with a group.

I keep pace outside by using a Garmin watch or the RunKeeper app on my Android phone. I still have a tendency to run too fast and walk too slow, though.

Kat - You have no idea how much your advice & encouragement has meant to me! Even yesterday I was able to finish my 4 miler (albeit very slowly), because I was reminded how you said to slow your pace when the temp is high. I am enjoying following the Galloway plan, but it really helps to have someone that I feel I can relate to. You are practical and honest. Thank you!!! (and keep it up!)

My husband and I did our 5 mile on Saturday and still kept up our 13:30mm. We won't be able to up our mileage until the end of September though due to vacations and a planned 5K on the 10th. We plan on trying to continue at least 3 miles each week and plan on running while on the cruise. We are thinking about doing the Gobble Jog 10K in Marietta on Thanksgiving so we can have a time to submit.

Hello All!! :rotfl:

I hope everyone had a great weekend. Just went back and read what I missed, seemingly loosing toe nails is the topic! I had no idea that was even possible! I guess you learn something new every day. Hopefully since I go up 1/2 size with my shoes I wont have to worry about that. My boss would be less than happy if I couldn't wear heels to work because of toe nail issues! :confused3

I am still off the run/walking. I was able to squeeze in a 16 mile bike ride on Sunday. I go for my MRI tomorrow morning. Hopefully I can get a cortizone shot and be back to my actual training! :cheer2: With 6 months and 4 days left I am getting a bit nervous.

The W.I.S.H. headbands are adorable!

Have a great day all!!! :cool1:

SaySay and I did the Gobble Jog last Thanksgiving! It was fun and very well-organized. There are just a couple killer hills, though, so be sure to incorporate that in your training. This was before I was doing walk breaks, so I tried to run as much as I could but I totally walked the hills!!!

For those of you that aren't on the WISH princess bondiband thread, the bondibands have arrived. There are 4 extra if anyone is interested. They are $5.65 each including shipping! Send me a PM with your email address if you would like one.

I took last week off too. It was an emotional week and I have net been sleeping well so I decided to let my body rest. I ran my first 5K on 8/14 and I am signed up for a 10K on 9/25. I just hope I can be ready in time!

How are the hills of the Gobble Jog in comparison to Cardiac hill in the Peachtree? I did the Peachtree this year but was doing a slower pace and just running or walking whenever I felt like it. My time is much better now that I stick with strict intervals. We run on the trail and it has gradual inclines but no sharp incline. Our neighborhood however has lots of hills but I'm usually only walking there and I also regularly go up Kennesaw mountain, but also only walking no running.

There is one hill that is definitely steeper (I think) than cardiac hill. It's not too far off the square. The mean thing is, you have to do it twice - the route is a 5K loop that you do twice! But otherwise, it's a good 10K. You pass lots of pretty houses. There is even one guy who sits out on his front porch with a tuba and plays the "Charge!" song (da da da DA da DA!)- he plays the notes and 2 older ladies with him yell "Charge!" at the approrpriate time - it was a hoot, and I wonder how many mimosas they had already had! :lmao:

I am going to do that race again. I don't think the hills are as bad as the peachtree at all....not nearly as long that is for sure. One was pretty steep, but it wasn't THAT long. I think overall it was a good course, not too easy, but
not too hilly - otherwise I wouldn't do it again! I would love to shave a few minutes off time from last year....we shall see. Its a great little event and a good way to start out Turkey Day! Easy in and out too!

THANK YOU ALL FOR YOUR ENCOURAGEMENT! I really appreciate it!

Thanks!! :goodvibes

I remember very clearly what it was like to start out on this journey, well, since it was only in Jan of 2010. I was (and still, am, sigh) overweight, 34, and had never run in my life. The support of WISH and the Galloway program has made me into a "runner" which is something I would have laughed you off the street for saying 2 years ago! I just hope that sometimes I can help someone else to get through the first hard months.

Galloway isn't for everyone, but it really works for me. I also have made friends from my local Galloway group that I wouldn't trade for anything - something about long runs for hours together, I think!

I LOVE the bondi bands! Can't wait to get mine!

I second what Kat said. The support from WISH has changed my life.
Still overweight, but having a blast working it off

However, benched this week. I have a bit of a shin splint going on and I am just going to baby it so it does not get worse.

Running has been how I've kept my weight in check (Somewhat... still trying to lose some) since I quite swimming competitively. I still can't believe that I've started running half marathons, but I've been bit by the bug and I'm not stopping anytime soon.

Definitely take it easy on the shin splints. You have time to train, get healthy and pain-free first!

Oh I didn't know there was a 10K in marietta on t-day. Um I might do that one. Do yall have a website for it? I don't see it on the run georgia calander.

I'm the same way, except I started running after hardly exercising at all. I know it's kept me from gaining weight, but I can't seem to loose the last 10-15 stubborn pounds.

Couldnt agree more about all of your post! I only have about 15 pounds left to go! Wahoo! Shin splints are the pits huh? I have this funny feeling the more weight I can lose the better off they will be....

Wow, I wish I only had 15 left to go!

Since I started back working on weight + running in early June, I have lost 26 lbs. I have about 40 to go, 50 as a stretch goal. It's amazing how much easier the running gets as you get rid of excess weight.

I say that my speedwork plan is miles on my feet, and pounds off my behind. :)

I could've written this myself. I've lost 28 pounds since January and have 37 left to go. I'm hoping to be near goal weight by Half marathon time, so hopefully faster.
