Pasta in the Park confirmed!

I contacted ESPN WWoS and spoke with Devin. He said that tickets should go on sale mid September on their website (same as registration) for the Pasta in the Park tickets. No price has yet been determined, but he anticipates it will be along the same range as the others. He also speculated it would be on Friday as there is a 5k and kid competition on Saturday morning.

The January 2012 Pasta in the Park is the day before their 5k race, from 6:30 pm to 8:30 at EPCOT and is $47.50 for adults and $28.35 for kids. They advertise that admission prior to 6:30 would require a Park ticket. However, I know with the MNSSHP gates at the MK are supposed to open at 7pm, but admission is granted as early as 4pm.

Hope this helps anyone!

Does Run Disney allow family and friends to join in on the Pasta in the Park events?

Is pasta in the park a special event where you get park admission with the meal? I always thought the $47 price tag was a bit much, but if you get an evening in the park as well, then the price doesn't seem quite as bad... Especially since Friday nights are evening EMH for Epcot and you could stay at the park until midnight if you are at one of the resorts...

Ok, I went and read the info about pasta in the park for marathon weekend and it seems that you can get into the park at 6:30 without a ticket. I would assume the same would be true with this event. The official disney park hours haven't been released for the end of February yet, but if that evening is an EMH evening then the $$ dinner would be worth it for a few hours in the park on Friday night.

Tinkeramy - thanks for the warm welcome! I'm so happy to hear that you had such a wonderful experience. This will be my first time back to WDW since I was a senior in high school! And yes, that was 17 years ago!! YIKES!

I have so much to learn - this thread and you all are such a wealth of information! The Pasta in the Park dinner sounds like a lot of fun, and I love the idea of spending some time in Epcot.

Question for y'all: Those of you who are flying in, when do you plan to arrive? Are you heading to Orlando on Thursday? Friday? Saturday? Very curious!!

I'm doing a Friday-Monday trip this time. Last year it worked well to arrive on Friday before the race on Sunday. I went to the expo Friday and then bummed around at the resort that evening. Saturday was a low key day as well, I did the 5k that morning with my mom before going to Typhoon Lagoon. I'm not sure if it'll be as warm as it was this year again, but if it is I'll probably do the same thing again. It was the perfect combination of walking around and relaxation mixed together. We left on Sunday this year, and I really wish I would have been able to leave on Monday instead. It was a long day since our flight didn't land until 11 at night central time, so I'd been awake for 22 hours and had run a half marathon during that time.

I'm actually flying in on Monday late (staying at the airport- ah the fun of flying on points), the girls are arriving (hopefully) early on Tuesday and we're heading to Universal for Tuesday/Wednesday then going to WDW for Wednesday night thru Tuesday night. I like the idea of being able to adjust to the warm weather and having time to tour again after the race.

The hours for EPCOT on Friday Feb 24th will have extended Extra Magic Hours until midnight!! (If you search by the last day possible, 2/15/11, as of this am, it shows the hours through to the 24th for all parks.) :woohoo:

So, if you are staying at a WDW resort, that means you could have park admission until midnight and an exclusive Pasta dinner (I know they've had characters there in the past), with your family, for a great deal. I'm in! I more than likely will not last until midnight as we're driving six hours that day from home.

Good run super early today. I tried to shorten my stride and run slower. We'll see tomorrow what kind of affect it had. No issues as of yet, just applying some ideas Galloway has.

Interesting on the pasta dinner, and it being Friday and not Saturday before the race. I have an AP so park admission doesn't really matter much to me.

DisneyBoyz, I got an early one in today too. I wasn't really feeling it much, though - it's gone back to being very humid here. I have a half marathon this weekend that I am likely going to do (if Irene stays a bit to the east), so I took it easy.

I live in Orlando now, but I'll have friends flying in. I don't know when they're coming in, probably depends on flights and all that right now. Last year, I flew in Friday and flew home Monday. It was a quick weekend, but luckily, I was heading back to WDW in a few months for a graduation trip.

Now, my friends and I did all 4 parks last year. It was definitely a busy 2 days, but it was a ton of fun. I also let them have fun in the park while I got registered, ran, and cooled down from the race. So it depends partially on how long you want to be in the parks and what you want to do around all of the registrations and race events...

I would fly to Orlando on Friday night and do any extra days after the race. Sat AM is also possible, but you run the risk there of a flight delay and missing packet pickup - if you have a friend that will already be there and can do the packet pickup for you w/ copy of your ID, then it's fine.

First of all, you run the risk of walking a bunch Thurs/Fri and then are tired for the race (made that mistake year 1). Secondly, the week before the race is a holiday week (President's Day) and it is REALLY crowded and the rooms are more $$ than the week after.

Plus, those extra days after, you can walk around the park with your medal. :)

I flew in on Friday arrived around 2 I think. Checked in, hung out for a short bit at hotel, went to expo then dinner. Sat we opened DHS then went to Magic Kingdom. Dinner was just at our hotel, VERY low key. Sunday race, showers, Epcot where we had a late lunch then Magic Kingdom again - somehow we were able to close that place! Flew out EARLY monday morning. I have a daughter in preschool, so I literally dropped her off Friday morning and went straight to the airport. MOnday I got in early enough to pick her up from preschool. Perfect weekend!

I will fly in late Thursday night and fly home on Monday. My daughters and their friends are going to Universal on Monday and flying home Tuesday. I am working one of the vendor booths Friday in exchange for merchandise. !! Yea Last year when I flew home on Monday my flight which was an evening flight was packed with women wearing their tshirts and medals. It was awesome!

Heather -

Thank you SO MUCH! I received my WISH Princess bondiband today. You are awesome! Thanks for coordinating, designing, planning, ordering, shipping, etc. :lovestruc

Also loved the added touch: Mickey & Minnie return address label and UP! postage stamps! :worship:

We're flying in a week before and having a family vacation. Hopefully my legs won't be too tired! My family is leaving on Friday morning, and then I have fri/sat/sun to myself, including the half, and then I leave Monday morning. It's going to be weird to be there by myself, but it's a great deal because we got free dining and I'll have some time to chill and rest before the race.

So, completely unrelated--can folks who have trained for the Princess in cold climates reassure me that I will be able to train? I just started running in March, and I'm looking at training plans and thinking about running 10-14 miles in the snow and ice here in New England. Any reassuring thoughts, tips, or ideas? (Or, hopefully not, "you're completely screwed, give up now"?) :scared1:

Thanks.:surfweb:

Ladies, I hit 50 lb. down on Sunday and I have kept it so far this week. I run a little each week, maybe 15% running and 85% fast walking, I never thought I would be a long distance mover at all, thank you for just being there. Having this thread to visit has been a huge motivation, HUGE!

I have a long way to go, a long way but it feels so good to be able to say 50 lb. lost since mid January.

Pj

Congrats on the 50# :worship::worship:

Im still benched with my shin it was better on Tuesday and I did 3 miles and I should not of. Hope resting this weekend is all I need!

I haven't tried to run on snow or ice because I'm too scared to slip and hurt myself. I don't mind running in cold weather, I just bundle up, but I avoid the snow and ice as much as possible. Luckily in my area it'll snow, then melt a couple days later. If a snow storm is foretasted to come on a weekend I have a longer long run, I'll rearrange my schedule during the week to try and get that run in before the snow hits. I did have to do my 10 and 11 milers on the treadmill this year because we got hit with a ridiculous amount of snow during one snow storm, and it took forever to melt/ get cleared.
