Okay, you and StitchFan are inspiring!! The only half I've done so far was last year's Princess, but I am considering the Atlanta Half on Thanksgiving and will most likely do the Publix GA Half in March. I'm iffy on the Tkgvg one since I am coming off the shin splints and feel like I am completely starting over, but if the Princess goes well, I might as well do another half a month later since I'll still be in shape!!!

You are too sweet! I did just what you are planning to do, and kept running race this year after I was trained for the princess. Since I planned to do a marathon before Goofy, I used the 1/2's I ran after the princess as long training runs for my marathon. It was much easier to get out of bed to run when I knew I would get a medal at the end :rotfl:

I've noticed that a few of you who are staying at Animal Kingdom show which village your are staying at. How do you know? My email confirmation for my room only says ANIMAL KINGDM LDG- LO/IND ???

If you are staying at Animal Kingdom Lodge then you will be in Jambo house, which is the main building. Kidani village is part of Animal Kingdom Villas (DVC.) There are DVC rooms in both buildings, which is why the reservations specify which building you booked. The lodge rooms are just in Jambo house.

I just changed my DVC room ressie today...I was booked at the BWV, but changed to the AKL (didn't want to have to worry about coordinating a cab at 0-dak-30, lol) Booked in a standard view studio in the Jambo house.:cool1:

Also, I use Runkeeper, Nike+ GPS and my running plans each time I run...I'm a gadget geek!

Hey everyone- Once a week I will probably post an "annoying" message about PM me if you want to be added to the hotel stay list located on post #1 of this thread, along with your first name. (Just in case people only check in every so often and dont read back in the posts).

On another note, going for my longest run to date, a 6 miler in about 30 minutes! Here's hopin'!

Hi everyone! I officially signed up for the Princess today. I'm going for the Coast to Coast medal next year with this and the Tinker Bell. :)

This thread is super long now, so I'm not sure I'll ever catch up with it. It gives me something to do tomorrow, I guess. :goodvibes

Have fun! I know that the 6 miles for me was a huge personal goal/hurdle. The first 2.5-3 miles I hated but after that, I really settled in and it actually felt like I could have kept going for several more miles! Let us know how it went!

:welcome: This thread is definitely full of motivation, support and answers!

Just finished my 6 miler! Horrible time, but I dont mind a bit! It was about 80 degrees out (I know some of you would love to have that temp). But it was darn hot for me to run in....

I'll post this in the winter as well when we have a whole different kind of "bad weather", but this is my favorite Bill Bowerman quote. Those that dont know who Mr. Bowerman is, he is the inventor of the waffle sole on running shoes. He is a GOD along with Steve Prefontaine where I live. I'm a 1/2 mile from Nike Headquarters and his quotes are a big motivator for Nike employees.

My favorite is "There is no such thing as bad weather..... just soft people".

Dig deep and stay cool guys!

Michele

Great job on the 6 miles!!

It was 80 degrees when I got in my car at 6AM to go for my 8 miler! :)

Our high temp today was 104. We haven't seen a high of 80 since early May at least.

Hi Michele,

Great job on your 6 miles!! I remember when we
Both started. Such a huge accomplishment.

Kat, this heat here in Georgia has been hard to train in as well.
I am still trying to figure out my hydration issues today I had sports
Beans, water, Gatorade on my long run and I still came home and feel dehydrated!

Keep cool Princesses, keep cool!!

Have any of you or do any of you run in lightweight shoes? I don't mean Vibrams, just one of the newer "performance" models. I've been running in Asics Gel Nimbus because my feet are so bad and the shoes are so cushy. But a couple months ago I bought a pair of Saucony Kinvara. However, they are SO comfortable that they get worn every day for general use instead of running! Still wondering how they'd be to run in. Advice or experience?

Nishmom,

I am by far no expert but I have the Saucony Hattori to cross train in and I wear mine to recover,I tried to ease my way into them I was only able to do a 2 mile run in them and my achiles and calves burned to much. I have friends who can in Vibrams all day long but I too prefer my ultra cushy Mizunos but love love love the saucony for recovery and cross training.

Ooooh, I'm so sorry! I'll stop complaining right now. Lesson learned!

You can do it! Just take it easy and listen to your body! Good luck and I can't wait to hear all about it. :cheer2:

Thx! Ended up a whooping 23 minutes off my PR and about 20 mins off my usual half marathon time...but right on target for what my long runs should be according to McMillan. And being sick aside...I'm training for a full marathon this fall, and long runs, not racing, has to be the priority from now until marathon time

Hi Princesses!

I've really been enjoying reading about everyone's training and travel plans. I'm signed up for my very first race tomorrow. A local 5K....I'm so nervous! Hopefully getting a few races under my belt will make me less nervous for the Princess Half in Feb! Wish me luck!

Congrats! It sounds like you are doing great with your training. Keep it up and I hope you feel better soon!

I just registered!! I am so excited!! I did the Princess Half last year (my first half), but my training is slow-going so far this year. I still have nearly 7 months, though, right??

So thankful to have found this thread and the encouragement it is to me!!

Me Too! I did the race last year with Plantar Faciitis so not ideal. Because of that my running has been very sporadic. WE HAVE TIME!

Here's to a great race in 2012 and fun training!

Great job getting your long runs in everyone:cheer2:
The heat is on here in Chicago to. (not as hot as Kat)
8 miles for me today, felt ok right after, but I've been lazy for most of the day, I think training in this heat is take a toll.

Ladies did my longest distance yet, 3.9 miles (Nike+ went crazy and says 4.5miles) in 1:05, not really sure of my pace thought I did actually run sone sections!! I feel good and like I could go a little more.
