I played around with some clipart for some possible designs. Let me know if any look good to get printed on the bondibands. We can get the design in any color, it just has to all be the same color (text and picture) to keep the $7 price.

Love all of them, but I also agree, with having 13.1 or Princess half 2012 on there too

If you just add 13.1 instead of the year, you might get more orders, and theoretically the clip art wouldn't have to be redone for future years -- but I'm not picky, I agree I like them all!

Great job!

I really like all the designs for the bondi band. Would it make the most sense color wise for it to be black with the green lettering so it goes with more peoples costumes? Or does it make more sense to be a lime green band so we can spot each other eaiser??

With it being so dark at the start, I think the lime green head band would be easier to spot than the black with green lettering. ALso I agree with the others about having something refering to the 2012 Princess.

Has anyone even thought about costumes yet?? :D

I have a little bit. I found my inspiration picture, now I'm keeping an eye out for materials I might need while I'm out at the store. I'll probably get real serious about it in a few months because I might also wear it during goofy in January. The pirate photo opp is my favorite along the course, so I really want a pirate princess outfit!

I'm hoping to find some black toole with skulls on it like the skirt in the picture has. Maybe there will be some more options around Halloween. If I can't find that then I'll just make a black tutu and I'll wear a running skirt underneath. For the top I'm going to find a tech shirt in either red or pink and use fabric glue to attach the embellishments like the picture shows. I'll probably do SS instead of long. Hopefully it turns out cute since I have an image of what I want in my head. I am really not a crafty person...

IF I can do it this year, I really am torn... between Tinkerbell or Jessie from Toy Story!!

Tink - I already went and bought wings that light up when we were on vaca, plus I have a long love of Tink since I was a little girl! Peter Pan has always been my hero, plus with the wings I would feel like I could fly!!

Jessie - when we were at the Disney Store last weekend I found a Jessie hat that is all glittery and pretty so I went and bought that too!! Jessie and the Toy Story gang became the theme of this past vaca, plus my personality is a lot like hers :rotfl: Yes I am hyper!!

So, its still a big IF I can do this year, I'm still torn and will have to see which would be easier to run in!!

If you do get to go then you can always run the 5k and wear one costume for each race!

Great idea on using two costumes..no need to decide!

Heather, I love your idea! I think part of the fun of creating a costume is seeing how you can translate it to something you can run in! I'm trying to make up a Mary Poppins one--so I'm trying to find clothing I can run it or just shed if it gets to be too much. So far I've found a white lace shirt for $10 and a few white skirts on Ebay. I was thinking of making the corset myself, although I'm not sure how that will go!

Hi everyone!

I couldn't find the thread about where people are staying, but my family is currently booked at the Polynesian. It was significantly cheaper to book it through the number given to me when I registered for the half marathon than through the Disney reservation line. When folks mentioned the I-run number to make hotel reservations, is that the number we got when we made our reservation for the race? Or is there a different place I might be able to get a cheaper rate?

I have stayed at Port Orleans before and it is really nice. I considered staying there this time, but decided since we will only be there for a long weekend, it would be nice to be on the monorail. For us it ends up being about the same price to stay at the Poly as PO because we are a family of five. PO can accommodate five, but my kids are big, 5-8th grade, and the little trundle bed is too small even for my youngest. So our choice was two rooms at PO or one at the Poly. I went with one at the Poly for the convenience monorail.

Anyone else planning on staying Poly?

We are officially in at AKL (message came friday from my DVC connection). Sorry for the bad memory- who do we let know about where we're staying?

Thanks for the help! Maybe our dhs and boys can meet up too. How old are your boys?

I was going to take a cab from BLT to the start line but if you have room I'd love to ride with you. AFter contacting, soemone to rent points I have to wait until tomorrow to hopefully book it. He didn't have any more BLT owner points availabe but the 7 month window opens tomorrow. As of yesterday there is still a studio lake view available at BLT. Crossing fingers we get it tomorrow!

Daisy - you're more than welcome to ride in "the blue Disney van" as my boys refer to it everyday! They will be 4 and 7 yrs old.

Hope you're feeling better soon!

THAT IS AWESOME! I love that! You will look absolutely adorable. Make a little loop in the tutu for a toy sword!

I'm still thinking Tiana, although I'm not sure how I would get a breathable material to stand up like the top of her dress does. I'll have to browse the fabric store. I'm thinking I could always super starch just that part and make sure it is not right up against my skin, or that could really irritate me. My fallback is always Tinkerbell since I already have the skirt from last year.
I can always cut up the top of my green tech shirt and sew in some kind of flesh colored meshy fabric up top to make it look more like her dress. Green felt over the tops of my shoes and big poofy white balls attached. Still not sold on the wings due to the irritation factor - mine and anybody I might whack in the face as they / I pass by!

StitchFan (Heather) - I just signed up to follow your blog. Thought you should know that I'm not just some random creeper...:)

Since my PT has not given me the go-ahead to run again yet, I am devouring running books, blogs, magazines, et cetera until I can get out there again myself! Love hearing about your training.

For any beginners / folks coming off injury and somewhat starting over, I really rec. Julie's (SaySay) blog - the link is at the bottom of her signature.

I was wondering if anyone has tried Zumba for the wii? I've enjoyed the other activity games wii has put out, but am disappointed when I have to wait for the 2-3 minute delay between programs. Also was wondering if this might be considered a CORE workout?

thanks!
Nikki

Thanks Amy about my blog....I am trying to keep it short, honest and informative for other newbies and it keeps me accountable! Its in my siggy below! This post however is not short....sorry for that!

As for costume, I originally thought Belle in her blue dress with apron, belle the bookreader. I thought it would be funny to have my friends all do a "before they were princess" costumer...you know, cindy in her rags, snow in her patchy dress, tiana the waitress and aurora in her Briar Rose dress.....but umm, not a hit.

THEN I decided I want to change my princess to Rapunzel and be rapunzel since she had short brown hair...which is what I have and Flynn prefers brunnettes.

I have also toyed with Mary Poppins in her white dress with red which as its my fav movie right now and I so love mary.

Of course loving Cap'n Jack and since I have the pirate princess ears from the park that idea has popped in also.

Then this weekend I think "When again will I be able to wear a seashell bra?" as DD is loving ariel.

That being said, whatever I pick won't be elaborate at all. I love the Team Sparkle Skirtts and made myself one for our local 10K on the 4th, um it was not the best quality, but I made it myself in one day.

I guess I need to decide what to do!

Last year I just wore a red hat with a bow and tiara sewn on, blue shirt and yellow sparkle skirt ala snow white.

I would NOT be able to do this race even walking in a full out costume!

I did love seeing the Incredibles last year in their costumes! One thing about being slow, I had LOTS of people pass me and I saw many great outfits!

For first time renters I would recommend going trough a company that acts as the middle man for renters. I know David's DVC rentals is a sponsor of DVC boards, but I've never personally used them. I have rented from D V C - R e n t a l dot com (without the spaces) and had a great experience. They are slightly cheaper, and it was an easy, quick transaction. You can also google 'renting DVC points' and the first hit should be another board you can go to find owners to rent from. Many of the owners are charging as much as the companies though.

Thanks for the rec on renting from Scott. He was very helpfull and we got a studio at Bay Lake Tower for a great price compared to Disney.

You can PM kappyfamily (Michelle) and she will add you to the list at the top of this post!

So is it me or is it cheaper to rent through Disney directly for a stay Friday, Feb. 24 to Wednesday, Feb. 29? I called the iRun line today and it seemed higher than the quote from Disney. WEIRD.

Thoughts?
