I need some serious help finding my motivation! I've been having a hard time getting the motivation to do even my shorter 3-4 mile runs lately. I have a few fall 1/2's and a full coming up within weeks, and my last long run was about 3 weeks ago. Even though I'm busy during the weekends and fitting my long run in is hard, I still have a hard time getting my short runs in when I have no time excuses.
Any advice for finding my motivation? I'm using the fall races as prep for Goofy and the Princess, so I don't care about time as much. I think that's what's keeping the races from motivating me to get runs in. I've finished the distances before, and they are all big events, so getting lost in the crowd makes me more comfortable with a slower time than I'm used to... I know a lot of people use big races as motivation to get their runs in, so what else motivates you to get out and run?
Not being miserable during the race motivates me! I figure that every mile I get on my body helps my legs and lungs adjust to what I am planning to do to it come race day! The more consistently I train, the less difficult race day will be and I won't be in the thick of it thinking, "This sucks. Why do I do this?!?!" Maybe get a running buddy - not necessarily someone to run with, since I know coordinating schedules is hard, but someone to check in with when you do your runs for some accountability. I've also heard of some people putting $ in a jar every time they ran - then, when they've hit their goal, they go buy new running gear!
Good luck getting past this!
