I need some serious help finding my motivation! I've been having a hard time getting the motivation to do even my shorter 3-4 mile runs lately. I have a few fall 1/2's and a full coming up within weeks, and my last long run was about 3 weeks ago. Even though I'm busy during the weekends and fitting my long run in is hard, I still have a hard time getting my short runs in when I have no time excuses.
Any advice for finding my motivation? I'm using the fall races as prep for Goofy and the Princess, so I don't care about time as much. I think that's what's keeping the races from motivating me to get runs in. I've finished the distances before, and they are all big events, so getting lost in the crowd makes me more comfortable with a slower time than I'm used to... I know a lot of people use big races as motivation to get their runs in, so what else motivates you to get out and run?

Not being miserable during the race motivates me! I figure that every mile I get on my body helps my legs and lungs adjust to what I am planning to do to it come race day! The more consistently I train, the less difficult race day will be and I won't be in the thick of it thinking, "This sucks. Why do I do this?!?!" Maybe get a running buddy - not necessarily someone to run with, since I know coordinating schedules is hard, but someone to check in with when you do your runs for some accountability. I've also heard of some people putting $ in a jar every time they ran - then, when they've hit their goal, they go buy new running gear!

Good luck getting past this!

OK LADIES AND OF COURSE GENTLEMEN! I just saw the Princess 1/2 is 51% full already! If you have been on the fence....now is the time! Just do it! COME ON! Whistle while you RUN!!!

Eeek! 51% already! Next paycheck I'll be registering for sure :thumbsup2

I have kind of a stupid question, but, I am registered for the Princess half and I also registered my daughter for the kids races. At registration I didn't order the Mickey ears for her because I didnt think she would wear them, but ever since, she has been wearing my sons old Mickey ears around the house like 24/7. So now I want to order them. Is it too late or can I still order them. If I can still order them, how do I do it? Thanks in advance!

From the RunDisney FAQs,

I did not purchase a commemorative item during registration, can I purchase one now?
Yes, please visit the Commemorative Items page to purchase any of these. It will look like you are registering again, but it will be just for the ears or other item.

I really wanted a pair of those ears, lol. I got the necklace instead, oh well..

I ran 6 miles today for the first time ever (at age 43)! I did use the Gallaway run/walk with about a 4/1 ratio. Finished in 62:30, so not too much over my typical 5K pace of 10 min/mi. This feels like a huge step to me... increasing from 3 miles to 13 miles seems crazy, but if I can run 6 now, I should be able to train for 13 by February.

That's great! I felt the same way the first time I ran 6 miles. That was my "ah ha" moment that made me think I really can do 13 miles! So far 7 miles is my longest run but I have plenty of time to get to 13!

Hooray, booking my room now. I would love a deluxe, but even with the discount just can't justify it. Oh well someday perhaps!

After a week off for a 5k race, and being too sick last week, this Sunday will be my 1st 6mi run, eek!

5.5mi fastest is 1:23 (not fast but done.) I really just want to move out of the last corral for the start.

Yay, booked resort! Better stop the slacking in training......

I need to stay on this thread more, I too have lost all motivation. But time to start gettting in the miles.

I finally got myself registered. Princess #4!

Outstanding! Increase milage carefully and I see a full M in your future. :thumbsup2

I've been having motivational issues this week too. It helps me to take my son out with me. He's 12 and we don't run together, but I like having him there.

I signed up for my first 10k. It's the Sat before Thanksgiving, I'm hoping for no cold rain. I did a 5k this past Saturday and the rain held off. It was chilly, 42 degrees at 9 am but it felt good about 5 min into it.

Are you running the Nick Caldwell in Saint Albans? If so, maybe we can meet up before or after the race. :)

That is a great pace and you can definitely get to 13 miles by February. I just completed my first half this past weekend (I will be 43 in 20 days). It was a great feeling just accomplish the 13 miles but now I am on to improving my time!

Keep up the great work!

Congrats on your first half! That's great! And thank you for the encouragement.

Right now, my motivation is to fit into the size 13/14 jeans I bought from Aeropostale last month :rotfl: I'm SO CLOSE!!!!! I mean, I could wear them but I have a little muffin top, but I'm the type of person that I don't like the muffin top look, I just keep thinking I want to wear those jeans at least by February on our trip for the Princess, so that is my motivation ;)

I have a normal store pair of pants for a goal outfit, lol. Ok they are yoga pants but they are from a normal store, lol.

I know what you mean!! That's why I wanna get into those Aero jeans!! It was just 2 years ago I was a size 20, and I'm so close to a 13/14 now!! I always considered Aeropostale to be a "skinny" store, and even the first time I walked in I was so nervous like I felt I didn't belong there even tho I had lost the weight, it was such a foreign place to me :lmao: Me? In a skinny store?

I am moving from only plus sized stores to average women size stores, don't know if I will ever get to "skinny" women stores, lol.
