I hear you on the flights. I am using miles and am actually flying in Thurs. night because it was way fewer points. :)

Hi Princesses, I'm officially in!

RunDisney was at the Rock n Roll Providence expo this weekend, so I signed up then, and got a small discount!

I have been having issues with my knee/IT band, and was worried about running the Rock n Roll 1/2 yesterday, but it was fine during the whole race. It's not feeling great today, though. Hopefully it will heal quickly so that I don't have to worry about it being a potential issue during the Princess.

I signed up for Princess Friday morning! If you were fine during what I'm calling "the race of endless hills", hopefully Princess will not be an issue for you. No one makes you run up a hill for the last .1 at Princess :thumbsup2 I felt like that was adding insult to injury :headache:

How did you do in the race? I actually didn't mind the hills, except for the last one. When I saw that we had to run uphill for quite a ways to the finish, I couldn't believe it!

Ran my 6 miler yesterday (ended up only walking about 1 mile of it) and took 9 minutes off last weeks 6 miler!:cool1:

Everything hurts/sore today though, I can only imagine how I will feel after the half! I have my first 10k race this Saturday and it is thru wine country which = a ton of hills. The race coordinator let me know it has a 1.5 mile long hill.....
ouch.

Not sure this is one I will turn in for the princess!

Hope you all are well.
Michele

Just another reminder that you can PM me and let me know where you are staying as well as a first name (if you would like) and I will add it to the list on post #1 of this thread!

I know knee/IT band pain! Foam roll, foam roll, foam roll - and rest when needed. That's what works best for me!

I suffered from IT band issues last fall and some before the Princess this year. Once I switched to Galloway's interval running I haven't had issues, and I've really ramped up my mileage!

I bought a foam roller about 1 1/2 weeks ago, and it seems to help. In fact, I brought it to the hotel with me this weekend so I could use it the night before/morning of the race.

I really need to use it tonight, but the thought of it is making me cringe - I know it is going to be painful!!

Interesting - I had been interval training (4:1) for the Princess this year and didn't have any issues, but lately I have been running straight or doing 9:1. I wonder if I go back to the 4:1 if that would help.

I do 4:1 now. I will say that I took about 3 weeks off running as well, but once I started back with Galloway I haven't had any problems, even with marathon training!

This was my slowest race this year. There were many more hills than I had anticipated or trained for. I am trying hard to feel good about this race, and not managing right now. Once I realized they picked people up who were slow, dropped them off further along the course and let them finish (giving them official times), I was really upset. That is just not fair, and their times should not count :headache:

There were crowded busses of people dropped off ahead of me who should have finished after. Plus, they had the benefit of not actually going 13.1 miles, and being fresh at the finish. I ask you, is this fair?!

Ok, there's nothing that can be done about it and I'm probably more upset than I should be -- but I don't see myself doing another RnR with that policy. :sad2:

My dh was shocked at where I finished within the total race, he said there were clearly more people than that behind me...well, they were behind me until they got that special advantage. The thing is, I wouldn't want a medal I "earned" that way. He said the good news is I wasn't straggling enough to get put on the bus and moved up, so I guess I should look at it that way.

That's crazy! I've never heard of that happening before. I wouldn't want the medal if I didn't actually run the whole race. I know it was the first year, so they wanted to make everyone happy, but if they picked people up then let them experience the finish line their times shouldn't have counted.

I've heard several negative things about this race. I'm nervous to run the RNR St. Louis race in a couple months. It's their first time doing that race as well.

Chicago RnR had that policy too last year, so it must be a general RnR thing. I didn't see it happen, but I guess it did. I thought maybe I had read the policy wrong.

I'm glad you said you've never heard of it. I was starting to wonder if this is just the way it is, and I didn't know because I've never run a non-Disney Half before :confused3 Seriously, if this is how most Halfs operate, I have no business doing races and should just run at home. I only travelled an hour to do this race, if I had come any distance I would be really, really mad. As it is, I feel...it's hard to explain. Violated is not the word, but I feel taken advantage of, like I signed up for one thing and got delivered another? :confused3

They did not succeed in making everyone happy, I am really, really not feeling that way :headache:

I heard that at W&D last year the people who were picked up still got medals since it was an inaugural event. They didn't get to cross the finish line, but dropped off backstage to go to the party.

I can understand why RNR races would do that since everyone paid, but they should let those picked up cross the finish line after the people who have run the entire race cross, or grab their bibs/chips first. I would feel bad if I was picked up and was told to get off the bus and cross the finish line before runners who ran the whole race, especially if my time reflected a faster time than theirs. I totally understand that there are a number of factors that could have caused those people to fall behind on their pace, but I know if I was in that situation I would feel awful for those who had been allowed to continue. Especially since the race conditions were less than ideal for the runners.

It's official! I'm registered! :cool1:

I'll be coming by myself. Haven't booked a flight or got a room yet either.

I've switched from C25K to 2:1 intervals, and am hoping to up that to 3:1 or 4:1 after a little while.

I really wanted to run in a tiara, but I just don't think I could go 13.1 miles without wanting to rip it off my head. So I went ahead and ordered this visor:

I know I can run and be comfortable in a visor.....with my WISH BondiBand underneath of course:thumbsup2
