Official 2012 Princess 1/2 marathon thread part 2

Haha...let him know if he sees a dude outside the Poly eating one, it's probably me:thumbsup2

Maybe all the husbands will read your blog and we'll see a whole row of pastry eating guys watching us run. :) But really, it was helpful! He was originally going to do start line to MK to finish, but TTC to Poly to finish as you suggest seems so much more feasible, less stressful, and, of course, icing filled.

My sister in law is running with me and needs me to pick up her packet. She thought she mailed out her "permission slip" for me to pick it up and just realized she hasnt sent it yet! She lives in Pennsylvania and I'm in Oregon and leave on Thursday. My question is:

Can she fax me the pages or does it have to be the "originals"?

thanks for any advice!
Michele

I am almost positive it has to be an original signature...

Okay...I went and looked again and the signature on the waiver has to be an original. I can't find anywhere where is says that the Packet Pick-Up form has to be an original signature, but I think it has to be. Can she overnight the forms to you???

"Half Marathon Packet Pick-Up Authorization Form

(Please Print Your Full Name) ( Please Print Your Bib Number)

I have made every effort to pick up my own race packet, but am unable to do so. I authorize:
________________________________________________________
(Print Name Of Person You Are Authorizing To Pick Up Your Items.)
to pick up my Race Packet, Goody Bag, Participant Shirt, and if applicable, my pre- purchased pin and/or necklace.

I have provided my representative with:
1. A copy of my valid drivers license or photo identification card; and
2. My original signed event waiver; (which I certify I personally signed);"

I have had to fax my permission twice to a friend who was picking up my stuff and it was never a problem to have faxed signatures. Of course, YMMV, but really--my friend even said that the runDisney officials were SO impressed that all of my paperwork was in order. Apparently A LOT of people don't have the right forms, etc. for others to pick up the packets for them.

Good to know! There are two of us picking up eight packets that morning and we have all the forms ready to go. Hopefully it will be smooth!

I'm sure a copy or scan of the paperwork would work. Honestly, if you have a copy of her id, there really isn't a way for runDisney to know her signature. They'll check id, then glance at the paperwork and give you her bib.

Does anybody know if the race/expo buses stop at every stop within a host resort? Or does it only stop at the main stop?

If you are staying at a resort with multiple bus stops, there will be one stop that the marathon transportation stops at. When we were at OKW last month is was the stop by the check in area, so it's probably the same stop at every resort. Which resort are you staying at? Maybe someone who has stayed there before can chime in with the exact location!

I stayed at POR last year and they stopped at all the stops. Well race morning they actually had to send separate buses to each stop, but for the expo the bus stopped at each stop around the resort.

Finally found a visor and created my "tiara"!

 I was thinking of doing something like that but I just never got it together. Did you make the transfer yourself, or buy it? I love it!!

I pretty much finished my skirt and my shirt is done. I had bought some white knee high socks for arm warmers but it isn't looking like I am not going to need them. I had some for Tink and they were gone by about mile 2 and the princess is looking to be warmer so I am thinking I wont bother.

Does anyone know if you can buy discounted park tickets at the ESPN complex? I read about the 1/2 day tickets, but I'm not sure if I have any days left on my old no expiration ticket from our honeymoon and would like to save the money on tickets if I can. I don't want to miss out on the cheaper tickets though... does anyone know for sure?

What's this about 1/2 day tickets? Please share!

Also, Heather, I gave a shout-out to you on my last blog entry for your supercool rollercoaster mid-marathon feat!

Just sign her name (but do it before you get there) and have her fax a copy of her DL. You can print her waiver...just look up her name.

I'm not sure what the 1/2 day tickets are. Someone was mentioning that they were offered last year at the ESPN ticket area, but I've never heard of them for runDisney events. If they are the same as the tickets for conventions/ conferences, they aren't that great of a deal compared to the discounted princess tickets.

Thanks for the shout-out! I tried to post a comment, but something kept going wrong:headache:

I picked up two packets for someone who couldn't make it to the Tink Half at the last minute. They scanned & E-mailed me their waivers, packet pick-up authorization forms, and their driver's licenses and I had absolutely no problems picking them up.

One of the driver's licenses was actually a iPhone picture of the DL. :)

Hope this info helps.

I didn't know the *official* answer but I was going to say if she scanned and emailed it and printed it in color it would pretty much look like the original.

Got the skirt done. Woo Hoo. My shirt should be done, unless I decide to add to it. I am also pretty much packed  3 more days and I am on a plane.

I had my first Princess nightmare last night... dreamed that there were all kinds of obstacles in my way, and then I had to run an errand in the middle and completely DNFed. Weird!!

Today will be getting everything together and considering packing some of it. I leave Thurs AM.

True true. :)

The funny part is that for one of the waiver/pick-up forms, I printed them out duplex to save paper, so the pick-up form was on the reverse of the waiver. The other I forgot to select 'duplex' so it didn't. No one said a word.

That's why I think it won't matter. They are volunteers handing stuff out - I think they're more focused on getting packets handed out than verifying original signatures. That's all I'm sayin'. ;)

:goodvibes I dreamed that the TSA took my custom inserts out of my shoes and took them apart and I kept saying, but I can't run without them. If you take them apart they won't work! Guess what I am going to be worrying about until after I'm through security on Thursday!:rotfl:

I'm so pumped!! Yesterday I finally broke down and told my Saturday AM Zumba posse about the Princess - I had told a few of them but I told everyone yesterday and they are all so excited :goodvibes I've even inspired my Zumba instructor to train himself for our local half-marathon this summer!! :goodvibes

The rest of the world - mainly my facebook family - will find out AFTER the race lol! I have a few too many negative relatives on there that I know would make snide remarks and that would psych me out too much so I'm telling them LATER lol!!

1 week from now we are all done ladies!!

I can't wait, I am so ready for this, I am pumped, ready to rock-and-roll, 4 more days of work and we are OUTTA HERE!!

For those who have run before: how quickly does the temp rise during the race? I think the high for Sunday is around 75 depending on which site you check. I'm used to running in 40-60 degree weather. Im trying to figure out if i should wear the long sleeve shirt that looks better with my costume or the short sleve shirt with a throwaway sweatshirt over it for the morning. Any advice would be great. This is my first half and first pre-dawn start.

I would go with short sleeve or sleeveless. Depends on how fast you are. When you get around mile 7 you head right into the sun and no shade, just open roads for the next 5 miles.
