Official 2012 Princess 1/2 marathon thread part 2

For those that have done the medal engraving...is the tent where it's at easy to find?

DH did it at the Wine & Dine and they were actually set up inside the party in EPCOT. I think I read that at the Princess they are just past the bag check, but don't quote me on that.

Should be a similar setup as Marathon Weekend, and they engravers had their own tent. At Marathon Weekend, it was located toward the red carpet entrance to the Holding area, close to bag check.

Hi everyone....I am registered to do the princess and i have a quest
Code:
ion....I missed something from ups today that i was supposed to sign for. It is from orlando Florida. Did anyone else recieve this in regards to the princess? Thanks so much.

There is nothing that is being sent in regards to the Princess race from Disney. You can download the waiver ahead of time (Which I recommend), but that's about it.

I did my last long run on Sunday. 12 miles in 2:45. Not crazy about the time., but I was battling some tendon pain in my foot as well as shoe/blister issues. But I'm confident that I will finish and get to take pics along the way!

I was laughing at the dream posts last night before bed, so I read them to DH. Too funny, that he then had a dream (he is running the 5k). He said he dreamed he got stuck in traffic getting there, and people were already finishing, but he was able to still run and got caught up in the end. I think it is because I keep telling him to now worry about time, but having fun.

For those staying at BLT/Contemporary, it does not look that shuttle buses will be provided or that the monorail is going to be working that early in the morning. Am I wrong and have to provide my own transporation, which won't be a problem because I have a car. I just don't wan to mess with traffic that morning. Does anyone have any information?

As there is not a shuttle from BLT, I was planning on driving my van and taking any others with me who wanted to join. As I'm injured and won't be able to run, I'm still planning on driving that morning from BLT. I believe Kappyfamily has two riders, I have room for three more riders comfortably in my van. PM me if you're interested in a drop-off as well. We were going to meet at BLT lobby. :cool1:

I know the 10 day forecast isn't always reliable but the fact they are predicting scattered thunderstorms for the weekend doesn't make me happy. Really hope the storms don't happen. Though that raises the question, if there's lightning in the area do they stop the race?

ETA: They're taking suggestions for power songs at mile 7 on the Run Disney facebook page! I suggested All Downhill From Here by New Found Glory (fast beat song).

I travelled to Austin in October for a race that was cancelled due to thunderstorms. I'm still bitter and upset about it, to be honest.

I would hope since Disney is the owner of this property, that they would delay, but who knows. What a cluster that would be.

I wouldn't worry about it since it's changed from even a couple hours ago. I'm not going to take the forecast seriously until I'm packing in a week. I will be buying a cheap poncho at Target this weekend to bring with me, just in case, but I'm not worried yet.

Just in the last 3 days the temperature here in Fl has changed 30 degrees- I live about an hr from Disney- today is overcast with sprinkles but I will keep you all posted as we get closer.

If they delay it by even a day I am so screwed. School oh lovely school. I have to be back for a presentation on Monday in History class (this is a case of no show = no credit). This means I would have to delay C2C until October during the Wine and Dine. Which I would rather not.

And I know it could change but they've had storms in the forecast for about a day or so now.

In my experience "chance of thunderstorms" means humid weather with afternoon rain in Florida. Maybe some locals can correct me, but I'm a lot less worried about this given that the race is early morning.

I don't think they've ever postponed or cancelled a WDW race, am I wrong? Could happen, but improbable. It seems like the fall night races are much more likely to have weather interference.

I still haven't gotten any final race instructions via email. Aren't they on the website anyway?

I think there is a chance of rain or thunderstorms almost everyday in Florida, at least in the summer. I'm not too worried either.

I don't think there has been a race cancelled either, and I don't know if they've ever had weather interfere enough to change the start time, but I think lightning is the only kind of weather that could have an impact on the race. If there is just rain then we'll be running through puddles! I doubt Disney would ever full out cancel a race unless there was some major natural disaster that impacted the race. Most people pay big bucks to travel to disney just to run the race, so it would be back PR for all those runners to simply cancel.

I am more concerned about the possibility of lightning. Rain's not a problem for me, I ran my first full marathon in a light spring rain. So running in the rain is nothing new to me. And I doubt they will cancel over a rain shower. Its just the prospect of lightning. Anyway I am just going to stop talking about this.

My sister and I are staying at POR and we are contemplating walking to our corrals. If there is going to be a meet up either at POR or POFQ please let us know. I think it's definitely a safer walk in a group.

Thanks.

Princessess,
I need your help.
Who knew there were so many purple colors out there.
I have a purple Sparkle Skirt and I'm trying to find the right top to match it for the run.
I'm leaning towards no sleeves as I think it will get toasty out there.

Here's the pictures of the tops.
Let me know which one you like!

The last 2 are quite similar in color.
I'm leaning towards the deeper purple one at the top.

Thanks!

I agree with you! The top one is my favorite! They all actually coordinate well, but I like that one the best. Now we're sparkle sisters!
