Kara is pretty awesome! Very cool- thanks for sharing!

Socks: I have tried a few with cushion in mind. I went the route of compression sleeves on my calves with cushiony socks.

So far I tried Feetures (love these- my feet feel pretty good in them) Thorlo (I liked them, but my feet got hot in them! But good cushion) Bagalas (I think that's the name- love these too! very cushiony. probably a close 2nd) and am currently trying out injinis (toe socks- I like them. Not as cushiony which may be an issue on the long runs, but I like the toe socks- makes me hopeful to NOT getting the blisters I suffered last year. I was very bad off at the end of the run last year) Not sure spelling on any of these, by the way.

Hello DIS-OH

My wife and I have walked from POFQ to the starting corrals for many January marathons and half marathons. You go out the lobby of the resort and veer left, going out past the guard booth. You'll hit the road and turn left. Be careful here as there is no sidewalk, but at that hour there is very little traffic. Walk a short distance and there is a bridge to the right over the canal. Take this bridge and the corrals are right in front of you. When you walk out of POFQ you can hear the music and see the lights of the starting areas; you cannot miss it.

This can be walked in 10 minutes and is infinitely easier and quicker than taking transportation to the EPCOT parking lot staging areas and then walking a mile or so to the corrals. I suspect the Disney folks would prefer everyone took the busses and long hike, but this is effortless.

Good luck on the 26th.

This is great info to find and know. I am helping with pre-race logistics for my wife and her two sisters and they will be at POR. The walk would be a bit further, but still very doable it would seem and it also seems easier than using bus transportation.

This approach presumes one is not needing bag check or anything else - just getting into the corral. From another post, in this same thread (1534), it would seem that they will need to climb a fence (since they are on the wrong side) to get in - right?

Also, how is it in terms of walking back from the finish area to POR? Has anyone done that and if so, anything to keep in mind?

Thanks!

Scion5220 Are you running all the Disney races in one year? That would be a pretty awesome accomplishment.

Heck no!

I am just a sucker for "inaugural" medals so I got sucked in by both the relay and the TinkHalf!

Although I am planning on doing the Royal Family 5K, Everest Challenge, and TOT Ten Miler!

Maybe I will squeeze in the 5K at Wine and Dine as well...I don't think I am up for another half marathon this year.

Maybe I will try for it one year...luckily I live near WDW so the travel for those races is pretty much free.

Nice bling! :thumbsup2 Are they all from Disney races? I would love a collection like that. You inspire me!

Yes...they are all from Disney races! :thumbsup2

I have one non-Disney medal which is from the 1999 Los Angeles Marathon, but it is not in the photo even though it's my only full marathon medal.

NEVER.AGAIN.

I ran my first full...last month at WDW and I say NEVER AGAIN!

I am also staying at POR and would much rather walk to the corral if possible. Is this doable?

My teenage daughter really wants to support me at the finish line; is walking to the finish line from POR doable - or should she take transportation? As much as it would kill me for her not be there waiting for me I am really worried about her going alone either way.

thanks in advance!

My last name starts with a G if that helps anyone - and I did receive final race instructions yesterday.

I was also upgraded from Corral Z to Corral F by Kara today. :rotfl:

I don't seem to get any runDisney e:mails....
I rely on the boards to know what's up.
Can someone post the link to the online swag?

Thanks!:cool1:

I really think they made a mistake and placed me in corral B when I should be in C by comparing my 10K time with everyone else. Also, I'm nursing this stupid knee since my 11 mile run in December. So I'm even slower. I don't feel like I earned the B placement. Would you move yourself back to C or would you just start in the back of B and keep to the side?

Right there with ya! We are in Beaverton.

I'm coming from WA on Thursday AM (the Wed. night red eye).
I plan on hitting the parks every day.
But on Saturday, I come back early and relax then try and get to bed as early as I can (which is usually hopeless because I'm too excited for the race in the AM).
I get up around 3:00AM to catch the bus by 3:45AM.
I like getting there early and taking everything in.

I did the Princess last year and it was so much fun!

Has anyone ever purchased the ChEAR Squad package for 1 family member? I am seriously considering this for my 14 year old, but might be under the mistaken illusion that this will be better than her waiting for me at the finish line on her own. Since all reserved ChEAR areas are "first-come first-served" - which is Disney code for 'you might get pushed and shoved' - I'm worried.

Any advice from those with previous experience? Much appreciated.

thanks!

Has your DD spent any time at the WDW resort? If she is familiar with the property that will help, but only you know mature/able your daughter is as far as moving about the property or being with an "escorted" group. I assume you will both have cell phone...the finish area can be packed and you can't just come off course and be with her. You will wind your way through the medal presentation, water/food area and final photo stop. This area is fenced off. There are "family" tent in the area after that but not "next to" finish area. She can try and see you at finish and then meet at a tent. They have letters ( a,b,c,...) on them and then there are some character photo ops in that area. Hope that gives you some idea.....

Thanks. Did you have any info or experience with the actual ChEAR Squad package? That's what I am hoping to get feedback on. :cheer2:

She's been an AP holder @ Disneyland since she was 5 and knows her way around that place really well - but this will be her first time @ WDW.

As far as crowds go - she's braved the 4th of July crowds @ Disneyland for her bday year after year as well as New Year's Eve (once). Talk about rude people! 4th of July & NYE brings out the worst in people.

Funny story: Most recently, at the Tink Half 5K the seas parted for her to make her way to the restroom really fast, but when she came back the SAME women NOT would let her come back up through the crowd to be next to me. She called me in a panic, but I told her 'find security'. Sure enough, she hopped back on the sidewalk next to security, pointed right at me and said 'they won't let me back in with my mom', and security told her "Tinker Bell doesn't like grown ups who don't behave!" and helped her get back to me. :rotfl: :wizard:

See you in "F". My wife is in "C" and she already told me that she's NOT moving back!

Don't feel bad. My wife always gets the emails and I don't when the registration runs through Active. I'm beginning to think that they don't like me.
