Official 2011 Wine & Dine Half and Relay Thread

No purple for me today, I was in all black. Last half I was also running with another lady that was in all black as well.

Great time for your first half, you are ready for the Wine & dine and that race will be alot more fun than the one today ;)

oops!! I guess I'm glad I didn't try and approach that person then..that would have been embarrasing!! lol
Yes, I'm pretty sure that W&D will be much fun...at least there will be no grapes and gunshots going off!! lol

LOL OMG I almost tripped because those gunshots scared the heck out of me :scared1: I just wanted to get out of those country roads incase they thought us runners were in the way ;)

What is they photo CD's you guys speaking of?

Yesterday, i ran 10.05 miles in 1:40:48 averaging at 10:02 pace according to run keeper. This may be due to the weather that got cooler this time of the year. I am not even sure if RunKepper is even accurate but its alot better then the Nike+ app on the iphone. Its time to tone down on the running to get ready for the big run in 2 weeks. Excited but also nervous. I may can't sleep the night before. Any one decided where we going to meet at yet?

The event photograph company will offer a CD (or digital download) of all your race photos and videos.

Some people find it a good value. Some people also don't look like they just played in the sprinkler before crossing the finish line....where is the dripping wet smiley?

I don't have the email handy noe......but I think it was $80 for the Photo CD. Does that include pictures with the characters? Or just running and finish line pics?

wow they dont give you an address to go to to order prints and pay by what pictures you want? $80 is steep unless it has pictures of character you took with. I want to also Etch my time and everything on the medal. Anyone think is worth it and how much does it cost?

Here is where the email from Brightroom Photography sends you:

http://www2.brightroom.com/event.aspx?eid=75420&pwd=

There is really not much info about what you get in these packages...and nothing that says whether it's cheaper to purchase in advance (my guess is no).

The email just says this:
"brightroom is offering you a chance to pre-order your photos. Over 30 photographers will be with you along the course on your way to the finish. Order today! See the products and prices below!

Photo CD - $79.99
Photo CD with Video - $89.99
Digital Gallery Download - $79.99
Digital Gallery Download with Video - $89.99"

Pretty steep for not really knowing what's included...like is it a photo of me at the beginning and the end? Or many photos of me? I know most people have said that the professional photographers are NOT at the character stations, and those are probably the pictures I'd most like to have...Although the email says there will be 30 photographers along the course...I'm just not sure what's really going on...

This is the link to my Disneyland ½ Marathon pics by Brighthouse: (note: I am not the most photogenic person...especially after 13.1....)

DL Half Photos

You can order them individually or as a package. (Cheapest print I could find was a 5x7 for $14.99)

They say I have 58 photos. I don't dodge the cameras as some folks do. Of those 58, 24 are mass burst aerial shots across the finish line with throngs of people and 8 are stock promo photos. Another 7 or 8 I am mostly (75%+) obscured by other racers.

And for those who are doing both the 5K and the ½, they won't let you combine all your photos onto one CD/digital download. Separate events, separate disks, more money.

Wow, saw some of those pics and its not worth getting. thanks for sharing the information. It helps us deciding if we should get it or not. Looks like i'll be bringing something to take pictures.

The medal engraving has been $20 at the last several Disney events that I've been to...they engrave your name and time only. My BF and I both get ours engraved and they have normally been pretty quick about it so we don't have to waste too much time standing around. I think it's worth the $20. We plan to do it at the W&D as well...hopefully the line won't be too terribly long by the time we get there so we can get to the after-party!

Where is this? I've wondered but never found a booth/location.

I was really disappointed in my Brightroom pics at the DL half too...too many throughout were out of focus and taken from so far away at the finish line. The best picture I have actually came from a photographer that Team Sparkle had on the course...they were snapping pics of people wearing their gear and then posted them on FB...I browsed the album and found a great shot of myself!

Now on the other hand, I really loved all my pics from the course at the Princess...they got some great, focused, up close shots all along the course and my finish line pic couldn't have been better. I ordered the CD gallery for that one that included the video...I believe it was $99. I believe the company that did Princess was ASI, but when you go to their website, at the bottom is says "Powered by Brightroom" so I guess they are the same company.

Where is this? I've wondered but never found a booth/location.

I always just hunt around until I find them in the finish line area. just a little white tent (in a sea of litte white tents :) ) normally with a large banner hanging that says "Medal Engraving" At Princess they were waaaaaayyyy across the finish line area close to the official merchandise tent....at DL they were just sort of in the middle of everything, but on the oppostie side of the lot from where you would have come through to get your bag after taking your finisher pic. I think it's the Fond Memories Graphics compay that does it(??)...they are always at the Expo too selling their frames so you could always stop by their booth and ask them where they are going to be after the race.

I think this has been discussed previously, but I wanted to ask yalls opinion... should I give my bag of junk (change of clothes, etc.) to the baggage claim race people or to my friends that I hope to meet up with at the after-party?

I will be checking my bag for the Wine & Dine Half. (I am also having faith that they will have corrected last years issues.)

•I want to have something fresh to change into to enjoy the after party.
•I like to have some baby wipes so I am not all sweaty and sticky and gross.
•I may want to change shoes and socks.

Unless you are certain that your friends will be at a specific spot to meet you and you don't mind waiting until you find them, I would check your stuff.

Be aware that last year the cell phone circuits got slammed.

I have checked my bag at the Donald 1/2 and also the Princess last year and thought that was a good idea. I was able to get my stuff right away after the race and not have to search for friends or family. Its very crowded and could take awhile to connect with them! They have never lost anything I have given so far, but I wouldnt put anything too valuable in your bag. I always take my phone and keys with me just incase, but cothes and food/drinks I always store with Disney!

Hey thanks for this great tip!! :) Will come in handy, especially since it's supposed to be pretty humid next week.

Agree! At the Expedition Everest race in 2009, it torrentially downpoured, and the bags (even ones that were double sealed with another bag inside) got soaked. I have friends that lost phones due to this. They try to take care of things, but don't leave anything important in there!

I'm glad there was discussion about the pre-order photo CD. I thought about it a little, but agree that there weren't enough details. Also, with it being a night race, I'm just not certain enough there will be good shots of me to spend $80 in advance.
