Official 2011 Wine & Dine Half and Relay Thread

Does anyone know if there's a charity option for this race (either through TNT or some other organization)?

TIA!

lorasmom - I think virtual TNT (now called Flex) will be participating in this race. Some of the Florida chapters will probably also be participating.

I contacted FLEX and they said the Wine and Dine isn't on their list for Fall events, which was disappointing.

I will be doing the relay this year as I did the Half last year.
Running with a friend from the runningoftheears group.

Hoping all the changes they have talked about to make it sooo much better than it was last year come true!

Sorry to hear that. I thought I had read it on their website recently.

A friend emailed me to say that the relay was open for registration. She said it's a total of $230 if paid by April 17th. Split between relay partners $115. I'm not sure if I want to plop down the money.

I received a confirmation of registration from active.com, but there is no link to purchase the discounted park tickets. Is this something I should expect to see later from rundisney?:confused3

Is there a course time limit for the half marathon? I can only find where it says to keep a 16 min mile.

I did my first half in November in 3:43 but I also had a 7 hour time limit as it was on the same course for the full.

Sorry, I didnt remember my second question until I hit submit.

If we are staying at Pop, can we drive to a host hotel and catch a race transportation bus?

I'm sure you can catch a bus from a host hotel, that should not be a problem, but I believe I read that they have transportation from EPCOT to ESPN WWoS before the race. Not 100% sure.

I just registered, it completes the circuit now, I would have done all the halfs this year at Disney and particiipated in every runDisney weekend for 2011, that was my goal for this year.

You can drive to EPCOT and then take a shuttle to WWOS, that is what they did last year.

Just signed up for the Relay, me and my relay partner Carra are team "Wogging for Wine".
Most likely staying at ASsports.

I got a separate E-mail that said they'd go on sale in April.

I'll be doing the relay with my DW. She's going to be walking (quickly) the short stick & I'll be running the long.

Anyone from last year know the details of the discounted park tickets? We're going as a family only a month later - trying to figure out if dh and I should get AP's this year.

We're still trying to decide if we want to team up and do the relay or do the half together. This would be our first biggie - my first 5K is coming up in a few weeks. Got a studio booked at OKW, so we're committed to something!

In my registration confirmation, I got a link to the ticket store. I put my travel dates (9/29 - 10/3) and a 4-day park hopper was 204.48, 5 day was 234.30. ($86 and $66 savings from other vendors). Always willing to help out the Marylanders!

Thank you so much! That is so helpful!! I am excited to hear of another MD person doing it. We're in College Pk now, but I used to live in downtown Fred! Went to Hood before that as well!

We're mirror images. Wife and I went to school in College Park.
And to clarify, those earlier prices did actually include the tax.

I have a question since we are on the topic of discounted park tickets! Does the discount apply to APs? Also, when will the discount become available to us? I am going down in May as well as in September/October for the race and plan on buying an AP while I'm there in May.

Thank you! :)

I don't think there will be a discount on APs. The rules for the discounted "sports tickets", as they call them, are very specific for the time frame around the event, and I would think no other discounts would apply to them. The disclaimer emphasizes that all discounts have been applied to those tickets.
Were you looking to get tickets for someone else when you are down for the 1/2 marathon? The disclaimer says "travel party", so you should be ok to buy tickets for other people joining you on the trip for the half.

I did it!!!! I FINALLY ran outside for the first time ever (let's keep in mind I just started running one month ago):cool1: I ran 4mins, walked 2mins for 2miles and just finished it in a little over 24mins. Now that may not be anything to you avid runners but I am so proud of myself. Thought I'd share:rotfl: And on a side note, what a big difference compared to running on a treadmill. Outside was MUCH HARDER.
