Official 2011 Princess Half Thread Part II!!!

Here is my finished hat with Team Sparkle Skirt. I am not sure what top I am wearing, right now either black tank or short sleeved top in bluish color.

This is too cute! :thumbsup2

Probably too late now - should I have purchased the CHear package for my parents? They are staying at the BC and plan to go over to MK for 6:50 (what the spectator site recommended "if" I stay on pace. LOL) and then take the monorail over to Epcot. They have APs so tickets are not an issue. We checked the map several times but are unsure of just where the finish in Epcot it. I'm sure that this has been posted here before so I apologize for having to ask it again (search is currently disabled on the DIS!) I've been struggling with my runs lately so have not kept up with this thread as much as I should have ...I've been freaking out just a little bit....

I wouldn't worry about it...I don't think it's a must-do. My group got it for the reserved finish line seating mostly. It may not be too late though if you wanted to try to get them a package...we got my grandfather one just last week...he was a last minute add to the trip...so it might still be possible. The Chear Squad packages do require a packet to be picked up at the Expo though...in case that would factor into your decision.

I know a lot of the Princesses have already left for WDW, but, for those of you who are still on the DIS Boards and are familiar with the race and CHear Squad...

My Mom purchased the Gold CHear Squad package yesterday, specifically so she can get the finish line area seating. She doesn't do well standing and walking for long periods of time- especially when she knows she'll be touring the parks later the same day.
Anyway, when should she arrive for the finish line seating area? I know about what time I will finish the race (about 2 to 2 1/4 hrs), but how early should she get there? Also, do you think if she traveled straight to MK (when I'm heading to the start) that she would be able to see me there and still make it to the finish?

I'm thinking that Disney may have known the shirts run small and adjusted the sizes. I am pretty sure that I selected Small, and mine shows Medium. My sisters both chose Medium, and theirs both says Large.

Thanks to everyone so much for confirming that I'm not going crazy!!! I really thought "there's no way I could have ordered a large..."

Hopefully it will fit!!

Don't have any experience with this, but my parents are planning on seeing me start, going to MK, and then returning to see the finish. The spectator tool says that it is possible to view in all three locations, so I'm trusting that they will be able to see me. I think it says that it is 42 min travel time to MK from EPCOT, and I should be around a 10/10:30 min mile. Since MK is between mile 5 and 6, they should make it if they hustle. You're a bit faster than me, so it might be tight for your mom. If you trust the spectator tool, it sounds like she should be able to see you in both MK and the finish.

We have never purchased CHear squad, but last my DD didn't run, but watched. She took the last bus, around 5am, to epcot from All star movies and then the monorail to MK, arriving around 6ish. The viewing...I think the cCHear squad has special viewing...is on the left side of Main st facing the castle. She sat on a bench until I came around 7, then moved toward the castle to see me come through and yelled at me and then took the monorail back to epcot to see me finish. I ran it in 2:09. Hope that helps.

That helps alot. Thanks! My mom is so bad with directions and getting lost that I'm really questioning my sanity on trusting that she can find the right bus/monorail/etc. She literally drove past the entrance to SeaWorld a total of 6 times one day (because she didn't see ANY signs- that's how bad it is).

What's your bib #? or outfit? I should look for you in the corral. That was my last 1/2 time as well. We will probably be running near each other. I'm 858.

#3702..hope to be in corral b...I love it there as the fast people are way ahead and there are no crowds to dodge if I get in the front of the corral.

I will be wearing a "minnie skirt" (red large polka dots and wide white waist band) with a black tank and white gloves and my girls..one is jasmine and the other pocohontas. We made our outfits and I have to say they look pretty good. We didn't have any patterns and we wanted them to be comfortable to run in.

I don't she will have a problem making it, but I will tell you a story. In 2010, I ran my first half-marathon, the WDW half (at about your speed). The plan was for my wife and parents to be in front for the TTC at mile 3.5, then jump in the monorail and see me at the castle, then take a monorail to the finish. She was getting the regular text messages on my progress (which I highly recommend for spectators). Well, after seeing them at the TTC, they were on the wrong side of the road to jump in a monorail, so by the time they got to MK, I had already run past. But they thought that the 10k mark was just before MK instead of a bit after it. So, they stayed in place until getting a text that I was at the 15k mark, and would be finishing in about 35 minutes. They ran to the monorails, but as I crossed the finish line, they were still on the train. :sad1:

Though my dad did enjoy pointing to all the people down below the train, saying, "That's my boy!" over and over again.

Yay!!! Finished my final 2m run today and I leave for a 6 am flight tomorrow for Disney!!!

I know this is a no-no, but I was planning to find a top to wear at the expo. I am planning to buy one that is a brand I've worn before, but I don't have any cute princessy tops to wear. I packed a couple bland tops just in case I don't find something. I have a hard time remembering what warm weather feels like, so I'm waiting until I get to Florida and feel the heat to decide what to wear.

While it is a no-no, I don't think it will be that bad. The only thing that could be an issue would be if they don't have anything that you like. I doubt that will be the case, but you never know... I would still pack a back up shirt or something just in case...

I talked to my coach today about what to wear, especially if the rain decides to come back. So now I have to pack that stuff as well... I could possibly be running in my awesome 1 piece racing tri suit :woohoo:, but who knows...

Looks like there will be a few of us at AS Movies! What time are you all planning on getting on the bus? I can't remember what I did last year; blocked it from my memory I guess...

This is going to be my first big race so I know I'm going to be all wired and pumped up that morning...and I normally HATE to be late anywhere, so I plan to get on the bus pretty early. I want to be where I need to be and have some time to calm myself, stretch, etc. I'm thinking if the busses start at 3am and they say don't get on any later than 4am, I'll probably want to be on one by 3:15 or 3:30.

Sure, I don't mind if you PM me and want to meet up on the bus...see message above for the time I'm aiming for :) I'm running alone, but will have a group of 6 supporters with me. As of right now, they are planning to be on the bus with me that morning to EPCOT. We'll say our good byes there before I head to the corral and they'll all monorail it over to MK...they all have the ChEAR Squad gold package so will be waiting to see me there. I'm aiming for about the same time you are, although since it's my first, I just really want to finish with a smile :)

PM sent to you two. :thumbsup2

I finally got around to uploading shirt pictures!

This is what our team will be wearing. There are 8 of us total, and I am the tall chubby one with long brownish-red hair. I will be wearing a black visor and a black running skirt, and black zensah calf sleeves, so say hi if you see me!

The shirts were done through customink.com. I couldn't recommend them enough! 2 week turnaround, free shipping, and abouut $28 per shirt inclusive. All the art was stock and picked through their design studio. They are tech wear shirts and you had to do a 6 shirt minimum.

Impressive that you all made your outfits. I don't have any sort of skill (let alone even know where to begin) on making my own outfit. Therefore, I just went for color to at least stay within a reasonable "princess" theme. I'm guessing I'll be in Corral A- but if you see a woman in all hot pink with a dazed and confused look about her (from getting up at an indecent hour and worrying over her mother's whereabouts)...that would be ME! Stop and say hi!
I'll be in a hot pink tank (reads half princess/half villain on the front), with a pink sparkly skirt, pink arm sleeves, pink compression socks, and a pink headband with tiara. I'll look like pepto bismol (wait...maybe that's how I will look after:cutie:).

My right knee is popping when I go up stairs. It does not hurt at all, but makes a noise like something is slipping out of place. I can feel it, but there is no pain. Whatever it is, it is a small spot. Not my entire knee, if that makes sense.

I did 2 miles yesterday on the T-mill and was planning on at least that tomorrow. Should I not run anymore till the race just in case?? Now I'm nervous.

I will be leaving first thing in the morning also! I can't believe how fast this time came!!!

I will have a hot pink sparkle skirt on, black/hot pink capris and a white shirt that has a sparklely tiara on the back and says "13.1 miles to go"

I will be running alone, (walking with the hopes of running some of it - recovering stress fracture) and i think corral D - bib #10533.

Good luck everyone and safe travels!!! See everyone soon!

:cheer2:

I am SOOOO not ready. Have to go buy shorts, dye my hair, and pack tonight. Yikes!

If anyone is at WDW tomorrow night and has no plans, PM me. I might be organizing a drinks meetup at DTD for anyone that is interested.

Oh, I'm pretty sure I'll be the last one in! We are flying in tomorrow but then heading to Tallahassee for a couple of days to visit family. We should be coasting in to the expo around 2pm-ish on Saturday. I have a bad habit of trying to squeeze too many things into a short period of time (and then running around like a chicken with my head cut off trying to get them all done). You'd think I would learn my lesson...but, nope! :sad2:
