Official 2011 Princess Half Thread Part II!!!

JDruns - I'd throw in at least one pair of shorts. The temps are supposed to be in the mid to high 70s during the day. You might need wardrobe change for the night though since the temps are supposed to go into the 50s at night.

So, Princesses, are we packing jeans or shorts for park-hopping? I had planned to just take jeans and multiple Ts and light sweater/jacket but I'm afraid it's going to be too warm for jeans all day.

I've been worried about this too! I'm afraid it's just that time of year where, in Florida at least, we'll need a little of everything...this is not a good thing for this chronic over-packer! :sad2: I'm hoping to be able to get by with capris and layer my tops for when it's cooler in the evening....but will have to go shopping this weekend because all this running has worked off some weight and changed my shape and I'm not so sure my capris fit anymore. Thank goodness it's a 3 day weekend...hope to start packing on Monday!

I'm going to be running alone, so I won't have anyone to chat with either, but during the half in Jan, I just started up a conversation with others. Maybe me wearing my princess costume and being a guy will help start up a chat with people, if not, I will just wait till I go off, at least I should be corral B with the number I got. But I will probably just chat with some people since I can't stand there not talking, hope I dont get bad views from some of the women there, since a guy running in the race, and maybe my outfit might make some offended for some reason. It is a princess outfit, nothing exposing, just having fun and running within the theme.

Also, did a "run" today, couldn't get going, my knee was sore from the 15 miles I did over the weekend, so I am going to just rest up my knee so I don't get any painful sensations running through my body when I try to push through it. I would rather be running as close to 100% and not run this last week than try to get a couple more runs in and be at 75%. I will keep walking to loosen up the tightness, probably go to EPCOT this weekend, but rest is mainly what I need to have a successful and non-eventful race.

Make sure you all pack everything you need, and if you forget anything, there are plenty of places to pick things up cheap. And be sure to eat a good meal the night before, I'm going to have homemade pasta and marinara sauce, which I will make for dinner, and Friday night after the Expo, might go to Carrabba's. :woohoo:

Anyways, keep training, or rest if your sick, get healthy and let's all have a great time running. Only 10 more days! :goodvibes

What is your number? I am 5416 so may wind up in corral B. Assuming I don't drop back a corral to start with friends, I would be glad to hang out and chat before the race.

Hey my # is in 3700, I will prob be alone in corral B if you guys need someone to chat with and help me stretch out!

Cripey,
I'm probably in B, too - but won't be running at "B" speed. The flu and now strep has really beaten me up this past month. You can certainly hang with me and I promise I won't breathe on you - I've been on meds, so I shouldn't be contagious by then! I hoping to hook up with bounceliketigger in the corral, too! I met her at Wine and Dine, and she is a wonderful example of a true Jersey Girl!

Hey, thanks for all the positive comments. Can't wait for next weekend. Wish we could all be in the same corrale so that we could meet and catch up while waiting for the start.

Jeanagor I have to tell you I'm a little jealous of your employment. Do you think I could write this whole trip off if I got an interview?:rotfl2:I hear Disney has thier own medical staff 24/7. Hmmm, I'm an ICU nurse. Hope they don't have one of those. Although it might not be a bad thing...I might need one after 13 miles or so.

Thanks! I have been SOOOO paranoid about getting sick these last couple of weeks before this run...I've been taking vitamin C pills every morning and being extra careful about everything. We've had some pretty drastic weather changes here lately and I'm prone to sinus infections...oh that would be sooooo awful. so far, so good though! I hope you're feeling better soon!!

I'm #3184, so I think I'm in B too.

This is from the back of a shirt I got at the wine and dine expo. I thought all you guys talking about sweating would appreciate it...

i was daydreaming about the race during my short run on tuesday. i try to get my brain thinking on different subjects - anything to let the time pass! usually i'm just thinking, "i hate this. i want to stop. i hate this. i want to stop!!"

This use to be me too. Every single step. Now my mind tends to wander to all kinds of small random things.

Okay ladies...some minor nightmares coming true. Was diagnosed with the flu, I guess about a month ago. Took a good week or two to get over it. Two days ago, I start to feel God-awful again. I go to the doctor's yesterday, and now I have strep! Ugh...please send some pixie dust my way.

:wizard: I hope you are feeling much better very soon. Reading about all the sickness going around is getting me a little scared. It is way to close to the race to come down with anything now.

:scared1:Yes, the pre-race nightmares are starting for me as well.... forgetting shoes, forgetting outfit, hurting myself before mile 1, everyone laughing at me.... and they go on and on.....

It doesn't help that I think I have heard over a hundred times this past week from co-workers, friends, family, etc.... "Do you EVEN know how FAR a half marathon is????" Ugh... as if i didn't already have enough self doubt, i feel like i'm getting extra doses from everyone I know!

I know the feeling. My mom is going to Disney with me, just me and her, and she is always talking about how nervous she is for me and how far it is and blah blah blah. I'm afraid I may hurt her before the race starts. :scared1:

But I am worried about standing in corral all alone for so long and everyone around me chatting and nobody chatting to me :sad2: Looks like there are alot of people going together or in teams so if you see lonely me, please come chat ;)

I have the same worry. I am not very out going so I am not one to start up a conversation with a stranger and every one back home will still be in bed sleeping. :confused3
My sister has done almost all my training runs with me but she isn't going and I threatened to call her up so we can chat. LoL

I envy you living 10 minutes away. Hubby's folks live in Tamp Bay. We hope to move to FL. Hubby and I both moved a bit as kids and, after nearly 11 years in TX, we're getting the wanderlust again.

I grew up in Ca. I've been in Texas for almost 5 years and dh and I are talking about maybe moving to Fl in a few years.

So, Princesses, are we packing jeans or shorts for park-hopping? I had planned to just take jeans and multiple Ts and light sweater/jacket but I'm afraid it's going to be too warm for jeans all day.

I have planned to pack pants and a bunch of different kinds of shirts and I am hoping that will get me through. I may throw in a pair or 2 of capris just to be safe, but I think the pants will be okay for me.

Im 3400 something, not sure off the top of my head, but linked is my costume, you see me in the corral, feel free to say hi.

I have been wondering if I am the only one that will be "glistening". Honestly, I can't even imagine getting close enough to characters to take pictures during the race because I will be so glistening that it is gross! Now that it will be warming up....

This made me laugh because last year at about mile 9 I was kind of done...texting friends back home, walking, feeling a bit like "why am I doing this?"...I look up and there is Jack Sparrow walking toward me. So of course I decide to get a picture! As the picture is being taken I joked that I hope his costume was washable because I was just soaked. Now I look at the picture and realize that he really wasn't touching my shoulder, just kind of standing close enough to get the picture! :rotfl: Have to say, might not have been JOhnny Depp but did give me a boost to get the resy done! LOVE DISNEY!!! :lovestruc

Seriously though, I give the "face" characters huge kudos for standing for pictures with the runners. I am seriously soaked my mile 5; I could NOT do this run without a visor or hat because of the sweat dripping down my face. "Glistening"---I love it!:lmao:

Ha Ha Ha Ha! This is exactly how I've been feeling towards my mom! It's just her and I on this trip, and my husband keeps joking that he sure hopes I don't kill her before race day!:rotfl::rotfl:
What is your number/corral? I might just have to check in with you before the race to see if your nerves are frazzled yet.

I FINALLY got my 11 miles in today! I'm so happy :) It was slow going, but good. We were on "disney pace", lol and figured with all the excitement and then the picture taking we'd average about the time we did today. NOW I can relax and be happy that I finally can really do this! I was sooo nervous with not getting the miles in!

Summer--- LOL!!! That's my DAD! He said he almost signed up just to make sure he could be there to "help" my sister and I through this. Because he thinks we can't do it. I was like, dude, how can you "help?" He's such a pessimist, keeps saying I bit off more than I can chew, yada yada. He's done one half, and it was Nashville (holy hills!) so he's comparing it to that. I'll be fine. My sis will survive.

And you can totally call ME! :) I might be a corral up on you, but you will catch me- fast!

Aaannnddd... if yall want to move to FL, I got a house for you. Cheap. Hurry. ;) Frickin house won't sell..... sigh... year 6... and still no takers.

Cripey,

I will MOST DEFINITELY not be running at B speed. I qualified for that corral via a race last summer that I actually trained for, and with the stress fracture and weight gain, I will be lucky to finish this race in the time allotted.

I may drop back a corral or two depending on where my friends are, since I really feel like I don't belong there anyhow.

Im 3400 something, not sure off the top of my head, but linked is my costume, you see me in the corral, feel free to say hi.

I will be wearing a royal blue shirt that says Team Goddess on the front. I am going to post pics tonight since the shirts should deliver today.

However, there will be 8 of us in these shirts... I am the tall one (5'8"), on the large side ("pooh"-sized), and I have long dark hair.

Quick question- I'm not running until next year but was wondering if there was any discounts for rooms or free dining that was going on that you all were able to jump on board for the time you will be there for the race? I know there was a race discount for the room but did you find anything better for the February time frame?

Thank you and good luck everyone, looks like perfect weather!

I'm in D. My bib is 8827. What about you?

Ha ha ha Patty. You should bring your dad and he can keep my mom company. They can tell each other how crazy we are and leave us alone. ;)

I think P is looking more at Tallahassee since the prison there is suppose to be pretty "nice". There is one in Coleman, but I think he said that one is a penitentiary and we are trying to avoid those.

I may just take you up on the call. I totally hope I catch you on a walking break orrrr I may just have to turn it into a walking break. :thumbsup2

They did have free dining this year. I was to lazy to do all the math but my mom and I took free dining over the room discount, which wasn't very much, and the discounted tickets.
