JDruns - I'd throw in at least one pair of shorts. The temps are supposed to be in the mid to high 70s during the day. You might need wardrobe change for the night though since the temps are supposed to go into the 50s at night.
So, Princesses, are we packing jeans or shorts for park-hopping? I had planned to just take jeans and multiple Ts and light sweater/jacket but I'm afraid it's going to be too warm for jeans all day.
I'm going to be running alone, so I won't have anyone to chat with either, but during the half in Jan, I just started up a conversation with others. Maybe me wearing my princess costume and being a guy will help start up a chat with people, if not, I will just wait till I go off, at least I should be corral B with the number I got. But I will probably just chat with some people since I can't stand there not talking, hope I dont get bad views from some of the women there, since a guy running in the race, and maybe my outfit might make some offended for some reason. It is a princess outfit, nothing exposing, just having fun and running within the theme.
Also, did a "run" today, couldn't get going, my knee was sore from the 15 miles I did over the weekend, so I am going to just rest up my knee so I don't get any painful sensations running through my body when I try to push through it. I would rather be running as close to 100% and not run this last week than try to get a couple more runs in and be at 75%. I will keep walking to loosen up the tightness, probably go to EPCOT this weekend, but rest is mainly what I need to have a successful and non-eventful race.
Make sure you all pack everything you need, and if you forget anything, there are plenty of places to pick things up cheap. And be sure to eat a good meal the night before, I'm going to have homemade pasta and marinara sauce, which I will make for dinner, and Friday night after the Expo, might go to Carrabba's.
Anyways, keep training, or rest if your sick, get healthy and let's all have a great time running. Only 10 more days!![]()
What is your number? I am 5416 so may wind up in corral B. Assuming I don't drop back a corral to start with friends, I would be glad to hang out and chat before the race.
Hey my # is in 3700, I will prob be alone in corral B if you guys need someone to chat with and help me stretch out!
Cripey,
I'm probably in B, too - but won't be running at "B" speed. The flu and now strep has really beaten me up this past month. You can certainly hang with me and I promise I won't breathe on you - I've been on meds, so I shouldn't be contagious by then! I hoping to hook up with bounceliketigger in the corral, too! I met her at Wine and Dine, and she is a wonderful example of a true Jersey Girl!
I'm #3184, so I think I'm in B too.

This is from the back of a shirt I got at the wine and dine expo. I thought all you guys talking about sweating would appreciate it...
i was daydreaming about the race during my short run on tuesday. i try to get my brain thinking on different subjects - anything to let the time pass! usually i'm just thinking, "i hate this. i want to stop. i hate this. i want to stop!!"
Okay ladies...some minor nightmares coming true. Was diagnosed with the flu, I guess about a month ago. Took a good week or two to get over it. Two days ago, I start to feel God-awful again. I go to the doctor's yesterday, and now I have strep! Ugh...please send some pixie dust my way.![]()
Yes, the pre-race nightmares are starting for me as well.... forgetting shoes, forgetting outfit, hurting myself before mile 1, everyone laughing at me.... and they go on and on.....
It doesn't help that I think I have heard over a hundred times this past week from co-workers, friends, family, etc.... "Do you EVEN know how FAR a half marathon is????" Ugh... as if i didn't already have enough self doubt, i feel like i'm getting extra doses from everyone I know!
But I am worried about standing in corral all alone for so long and everyone around me chatting and nobody chatting to meLooks like there are alot of people going together or in teams so if you see lonely me, please come chat

I envy you living 10 minutes away. Hubby's folks live in Tamp Bay. We hope to move to FL. Hubby and I both moved a bit as kids and, after nearly 11 years in TX, we're getting the wanderlust again.

I have been wondering if I am the only one that will be "glistening". Honestly, I can't even imagine getting close enough to characters to take pictures during the race because I will be so glistening that it is gross! Now that it will be warming up....
My mom is going to Disney with me, just me and her, and she is always talking about how nervous she is for me and how far it is and blah blah blah. I'm afraid I may hurt her before the race starts.![]()
I know the feeling. My mom is going to Disney with me, just me and her, and she is always talking about how nervous she is for me and how far it is and blah blah blah. I'm afraid I may hurt her before the race starts.![]()
I have the same worry. I am not very out going so I am not one to start up a conversation with a stranger and every one back home will still be in bed sleeping.
My sister has done almost all my training runs with me but she isn't going and I threatened to call her up so we can chat. LoL
I grew up in Ca. I've been in Texas for almost 5 years and dh and I are talking about maybe moving to Fl in a few years.

Im 3400 something, not sure off the top of my head, but linked is my costume, you see me in the corral, feel free to say hi.
Ha Ha Ha Ha! This is exactly how I've been feeling towards my mom! It's just her and I on this trip, and my husband keeps joking that he sure hopes I don't kill her before race day!
What is your number/corral? I might just have to check in with you before the race to see if your nerves are frazzled yet.
Summer--- LOL!!! That's my DAD! He said he almost signed up just to make sure he could be there to "help" my sister and I through this. Because he thinks we can't do it. I was like, dude, how can you "help?" He's such a pessimist, keeps saying I bit off more than I can chew, yada yada. He's done one half, and it was Nashville (holy hills!) so he's comparing it to that. I'll be fine. My sis will survive.
And you can totally call ME!I might be a corral up on you, but you will catch me- fast!
Aaannnddd... if yall want to move to FL, I got a house for you. Cheap. Hurry.Frickin house won't sell..... sigh... year 6... and still no takers.
Quick question- I'm not running until next year but was wondering if there was any discounts for rooms or free dining that was going on that you all were able to jump on board for the time you will be there for the race? I know there was a race discount for the room but did you find anything better for the February time frame?
Thank you and good luck everyone, looks like perfect weather!
