Official 2011 Princess Half Thread Part II!!!

If you want to wait I was assured that they will have the tiara bondi bands at the expo!

I would only bank on that if you are going to the expo on the first day. There is no way to know how many people are going to buy them at the expo, and it would be a total bummer if you waited to buy one at the expo to complete your outfit an they were out of the color you wanted, or the tiara bands all together!

Hello Ladies! I have been reading through all the posts and everyone seems to be doing great in their training:cheer2: I've been struggling to stay motivated but all this talk about costumes has me all excited again. I just ordered a sparkle skirt, bought a tiara at Michael's, and a cute Minnie Ears tiara patch on Etsy, and can't wait to put my outfit together!!! :yay: In the mean time must keep running, must keep running...

Oh I know....I will be at the expo first thing on Friday :thumbsup2

Went to JoAnn Fabric today to get the fabric for my Tinkerbell skirt - my niece is a sewing whiz and is going to throw something together for me. The woman cutting my stuff asked what I was making, and when I told her she said, "You're the 2nd person who has told me that!" Any other N. GA princesses out there scoping outfit materials at the N. Point JoAnn?!:rotfl:

Anyway, can't wait - the iron-on wings just WOULD NOT work on a shirt that has no cotton in it, so I went to Target and got a $5 Dri-Fit shirt that should do the trick. Will post the whole she-bang when it is completed!

Going for 12 tomorrow - loaded up the ipod with the music of my youth (80's, with a little 70's thrown in) in a vain attempt to remind me when I was energetic enough to do this with no problems!!! Lucky for us we are having a CRAZY warm "snap" - supposed to be sunny and up to 66. Def. unseasonable for Jan., but I'm lovin' it!

longhorns52-- love the bondi band! And the baby bump! Almost makes me wish I were pregnant again, lol

I am going to have to give up my 12 mile run for this weekend. My foot has been killing me. I had PF in my left foot that was getting better until a couple of weeks ago when I did a half marathon. Since then it was nagging a little, so I just kept icing and stretching but still training.(I know) We took the kids to the zoo today and the entire time, my foot just hurt. So I am going to lay low for the next three days and hope it gets better. Part of me is so tempted to just go out and run, but I know I can't and shouldn't

So I am trying to figure out how to map out the next few LR if I miss this one. I was thinking 10 miles next week and then 8 miles and then 4 and then the race. Is that too long of a taper? I feel comfortable taking it up to 10 since I did the half just recently and I don't want to aggravate my foot any more than necessary.

I was at the Kennesaw JoAnn scouting for material :))

Something I tell myself during training is to always go that extra step to where I have to push it cause in the end, it makes the race easier. I did a short 6 mile run today just to break in my new shoes. I will be doing my long run in two weeks, I have been in shape since I can remember and just need to train to stay in shape and improve time. I am in more training for a full and using these halves as practice, not to compete, I can never win or compete, I race for the fun of it. Just keep on running

Cool video!

Just a friendly runner reminder for those of you with large groups... Please try to run no more than two by two so that others can pass you as needed. Nothing is more frustrating than being behind a group of (in some places 3) 4 or more spread out side by side blocking the course. Be a courteous runner and keep your partner running to two by two, switching up if necessary. It's just good running etiquette regardless of where you are running. :goodvibes

Yesterday my oldest daughter turned 4. I can't believe how time has flown. So I planned on doing my long run today instead of Saturday like normal. I woke up today completely sick. I would actually still run, but I'm really dizzy. I've never had that before and it's kind of freaking me out. I feel like I'm on narcotics, loopy and like the room is spinning. So I'm thinking that running is probably not a good idea. Hopefully I'll feel better tomorrow, but I'll have to so it on the treadmill because dh will be at work. Joy.

I finally went on my first run yesterday since getting over the flu. It had been more than a week since my last run. I tried for 10 and settled for 8. I still should be okay...as long as I get a 10 miler in before the big day! Feel better everyone!

How are you making out back running with the stress fracture? I am doing much better, but I have not trained nearly like I should have out of fear that blessed pain would come back. So far nothing so I am assuming I am good with my new goal being to train hard for the next few weeks and get to 10 LR at the very least.

Thought of you :)

I have not been training at ALL like I should be - work and vacation got in the way, plus the fear. I am planning on mostly walking and just hoping I'll finish.

I've had a twinge here and there but nothing major.

Thanks for this. It hadn't even occured to me to used body glide under the band of my bra. I've been getting chafing there on my longer runs and tired like 3 different bras thinking it would help. I'm such a momo sometimes.:sad2:

Not a momo. I was given that advice by someone else. :goodvibes

I also use glide on my feet sometimes to prevent blisters.

Went for 10 today didn't make it. First 7 miles went ok, not great but not bad...mile 8 was hard, foot started to hurt. Had to stop and walk just before mile 9 and then I strolled....as I was far from the car. The realization hit in this stroll I might not be able to finish the race and then I called DH and got all emotional. BUT its over, bad run, got my PT scheduled and all I can do is my best without hurting anything. Foot is sore now, but nothing snapped or no new pains.

Sorry for the whine, I am bummed.....did 9.8 total. Weather was nice though, started at 43 ended at 63. Thinking that will be similar to princess conditions.

I hate this PF!

Kat, I've been through several periods where I wonder what the heck I am doing and am afraid I won't finish. I just keep on keeping on and now am more philosophical about the whole thing. I'll be doing a lot of walkig, too. Yep, I'm over 50 and weigh more than 200 pounds but I'm going to give it my best shot. And it won't be the end of the world if I get swept. :hippie: You can do it! :thumbsup2

I've had some of the same issues, well more vacation and school and work, but time management has been an issue none the less. I'm just getting out and trying to get 1 long run every week (or two).

As for the fear... Think about the good parts of the race. The feeling of finishing, getting that medal around your neck, etc... For me, endurance sports are mostly mental.

Get some good music, don't plan a distance, and just run!

THANK YOU FOR POSTING THIS! I am 46 dealing with PF and have been bummed about my run and foot today. I really needed to hear this! Sure I don't want to be swept but if I am I know it is not because I didn't try!

As my dad said, that is all you can do is give it your best, no failure in that no matter what the outcome.

Made 12 today, but the REALLY HARD WAY! I don't get it - I fueled up, hydrated, it's a BEAUTIFUL day...just could not get in a groove and find my pace. Was feeling really tired way too early. Finally, got a side stitch at mile 8 (this has NEVER been a prob. for me) that made me completely stop - it hurt so bad to even walk. Julie, you talk about getting emotional - I was standing on the bridge over the river about to burst into tears!!! I told myself that I would just make it 'til 10 today and be okay with that. Well, the oddest thing happened - at 10, something FINALLY kicked in and, while I would not say I got energized, I finally felt like I had some kind of pacing going and a bit more left in me. Made it to 12. On the cool-down walk back to my car, though, I swear I thought both knees were going to lock up on me! Blisters a-plenty. Need to remember to pack my moleskin for WDW! Hang in there, princesses! With the adrenaline going on race day, I'm sure we'll get that extra boost we need!:cheer2:

Amy, my last mile today.....26 minutes! Well i stopped by the river had a cry, called andy talked to him for a while - then made the slow and painful walk back to the car. Funny thing, I didn't turn off the Garmin. :lmao::lmao:

I really think the weather today kind of threw you for a loop. Maybe your new songs were TOO fast. :goodvibes You will do great race day! Its going to be a fun trip so glad I can share it with you!

All we can do is our best!

After a 9 day sickness with literally no running going on, I finally felt better today and decided to try for a long run. I made sure to stretch out very well and ran 8 miles. I felt good, had a good pace (for me) and finished strong. That is my mantra - always finish strong. I have that fear creeping up on me, too. Unsure how my training is going (I know I am not getting my weekly miles) and if I can get my endurance to where it needs to be. But thinking back to June when I could not even run a 1/2mile, I am so happy with where I am now!
