Official 2011 Princess Half Thread Part II!!!

Ugh no long run for me today. I planned on doing 8. I got to a little over 5 and had to stop. The balls of my feet hurt so bad! So I tried to adjust the way my foot hit and I ended up rolling my ankle. Here is my secret: I've been running in Payless shoes. I guess I need to break down and spend the money on running shoes.

Okay, budget princesses! Found at Target today a cute headband in the dollar spot that has those springs on the top and princess crowns attached to them! Might be cute if you don't want a tiara, or it would be great for daughters to wear to cheer their moms on!! Also found a teeny tutu for $1 in a green/ yellow. I thought, this will be perfect...on a whim I bought it. Couldn't get it up over my hips!! Pulled it on from the top and got it around my waist, but it was just too tight. Rats. HOWEVER... I spotted in the girls section 2 tutu-type skirts. One was black, one was pink and they both had little silver hearts all over them. Not the colors I was looking for, but the XL would def. fit a small adult and they were only $10.

Am trying to resist paying $28 for a sparkle skirt. May hold out until the expo and take my chances on getting it there. At least then I'll pay cash so the hubs won't know how much I'm spending on this silly thing!!!:confused3

You COULD sew 2 of the kiddie tutu's together....that's an easy fix.

Yeah, I bought my sparkle skirt out of my Paypal, so the hubs won't know. DON'T WANT TO HEAR IT.

This winter has been ROUGH esp for you ladies up north. Going to to a very short run tomorrow on a gravel path....very slow, since I am having foot issues. So happy to be seeing the doc on Monday, but also scared at what he will tell me. Oh well, happy thoughts..... love you feet!

My CW-x tights came this week. I did my short run, a 5K, in them last night. I ran 10K on Tuesday, and of course, my tights came Wednesday. My hips have been a little sore since then. They are better today, but I think that's because they've had time to heal some. The real test with my tights will be on my long run this weekend.

I LOVE how they feel. I didn't feel like a jello jiggler when I ran. I was prepared for a little workout trying to get them on, and it was, but it wasn't bad. I went by the sizing chart and they seem to be a perfect fit, 5'6" and 128 pounds and I got a small. Not too tight at all.

Now for my long run....it's -11º out there. The high today is 3º with 10 mph winds. I can't run in that. Tomorrow isn't looking any better, more wind tomorrow. I have good cold weather running gear, but that's cold. I have a treadmill, but I never really thought I'd be faced with running 10 miles on it. I ran 8 miles on it last weekend. I am telling myself that it's just 2 more miles. Running isn't just physical, it's also mental. I have been trying to psych myself up for this run all week. I am thankful that I have a treadmill. Really, I have NO excuse not to run. I bought a new tv for my fitness room a couple weeks ago because I knew I was going to be spending more time on my treadmill.

I do have a couple options. I could go to the Community Center and run laps there. I could attempt 5 miles outside and then immediatley run the last 5 on the treadmill, or I can just do it all on the treadmill.

Post your long runs this weekend and let us know how they went. I am not sure if I am running mine today or tomorrow, but I WILL be running. I hope you all have a great run this weekend.:)

I think I'm going to look at those tights at the expo; I think I saw that they had a table?
My knee feels like it is getting worse :( but I found some stretches that relive the pain for a little bit, and running with my KT tape is working.

No long run for me this weekend, Jeff G. has 4mi scheduled this weekend. I run on Sundays now, my swimming lesson schedule for Saturdays is exhusting.

I have now bought all the parts to my outfit, I'm just waiting for the skirt to come. I'll post a picture when I have it all togeather.

So I ended up chickening out, and did my run on the treadmill. There's only one working treadmill in my apartment complex, so I was lucky to get a run in without anyone kicking me off -- I think everyone else just gave up and used the other cardio equipment in the room when they saw that I kept going. Got 9 miles in, I feel pretty great! One perk for me for using the treadmill is that my pace is much quicker than when I run on my own outside. Good luck to everyone this weekend! Hearing about everyone else running really motivated me to actually get it done today!

Now I think I deserve a nice tuna sandwich...;)

I so agree here...everyone keep sharing about your accomplishments, long or short. It definitely got me motivated to get out of the house this morning! I also sent up a few general prayers while I was on the TM for those of you doing this with injuries. :goodvibes I promise it will be worth the trip when they put that medal on your neck BUT so not worth it if you do permanent damage to yourself...be careful and listen to your body!;)

Enough of the running talk:rotfl2:, back to what to wear...it seems several of you have said your costumes are complete! This thread is needing some pictures of those!! Come on....princess:

I'm planning on ironing on the wings tonight or tomorrow - I'll be sure to post a pic! (IF it turns out okay!)

All of you that are running in such cold weather are amazing to a FL girl. Even getting out to get on a treadmill shows such determination! :worship: It was in the low 30's this morning here and I chose the treadmill instead of going out in it.

Tomorrow is suppose to be a long run (8-10) and I need to be outside for that length. My problem is a sweat profusely, even in the cold, so then I end up being cold in layers of wet clothes.

Everyone running outside in this cold is even amazing to this Canadian girl :rotfl2: I may live in the cold (definately not my choice) but you can't get me outside running in this freezing weather. I have been training for this half all on the dreadmill. Luckily I ran a 10K in November (that was my last run outside and it was too cold for me) and two half marathons in Sept and Oct so hoping that is enough to get me through this race ;)

It was in the 20s here today and this Southern girl can NOT deal with that. So, my 10 miles ended up being inside on the treadmill. It was OK. I had to do it tonight instead of first thing this morning like I had planned. Oh well...at least I got it done.

I did my 9 miles on the treadmill. I really hate it! It has a slight incline that I can't level so it's like going slightly uphill the whole time. I would much rather be out in the cold than on that thing, but our trails weren't cleared from the ice and snow. Last week I used my yak traks but I think I tweeked my ankle a little and I didn't want to risk further injury.

Can you believe we are almost there? With my plan I only have 2 more long runs before the half. We can do this ~ just keep running!!

Merci

This bout with the flu still has me knocked on my a$$! The tamiflu seems to be helping, but I've been in bed since wednesday night, and no signs of exhaustion leaving. Certainly ruined my running plans for a while. thank goodness this was not a long run weekend. Hoping I can maintain my stamina....right now going down the stairs to the kitchen leaves me breathing heavy!

Today I ran 9.5 miles. It was is the mid 40's so not too cold.
I tried GU in the middle of the run. I've never used anything before during running. It was strawberry banana flavor. Tasted pretty good but wasn't used to the texture.
For my next long run I bought the jelly bellies. I'll see if I like those more.
Yesterday I ordered the iffiness double pack. Can't wait for it to arrive so I can test it out.

Yesterday I also tested out my new pink running skirt for 3 miles on the treadmill. I loved it!

For the beginning of the week I was in Chicago. Managed to get one run on the hotel treadmill. But it kept shutting off and had to call the front desk to restart it. Some electrical glitch when both treadmills are running at the same time. It was hard to keep track of my interval training. Oh well. Kudos to those that live in the colder climates. There was no way I could run outside!
In 2 weeks I head odd to Japan for a week for work. Hopefully the weather will be Ok to run outside along the river. Beautiful views!
Then less than 2 weeks later it's our 1/2 marathon. Can't wait!
Everyone keep up with the training.

I've done 99% of my training on the treadmill... I'm too afraid to go outside when it is this cold out. Yesterday my hands froze walking from my car into work, can't imagine running outside right now! Not to mention the ice!

Good for you girls that brave this weather. I'm so glad we are only 36 days from the race, but part of me wishes it was at the end of March so that I could get in a few good runs outside.

I made it outside too! 10 miles!!! I'm so happy I'm finally into the double digits! And man, oh man, it was pretty rough. Started out sunny and 34 degrees, but about mile 3, the sun went away for the rest of the run and the wind picked up, so it got pretty cold. And this is my first run with the Garmin that my sister's BF let me borrow, so cool!! I did an out and back route, so I knew when 5 miles was for sure. Kept a 12:30 pace, which was pretty cool, I'm hoping for a sub-11 pace for the race.

Knees are sore and my right calf is really tight. I stretched the calf really well after the run because it started to get tight about mile 3, but now I'm worried I over-stretched it. Hopefully it will be better tomorrow. So glad that run is over now!

My friend and I did 12 yesterday. Yeeehhhawww.

2 fears conquered:

1- I don't do cold. It was cold. I did it. It didn't suck too much. I have been freaking about race day being in the 20s and how I would just not even be able to get out of bed. Well, yesterday proved I could do it in 27 degree weather (to start- was 40 something when we finished). I feel way better about the race now.

2- I walked 12 freakin miles in 15:20 pace. And I wasn't dying- ie, I could have pushed more if I had to. So that pace + not being in the last corral due to previous time = This bad boy is gonna happen! Sweepers NO Sweeping!

I am feeling way more confident about doing this race and think it's going to be a loads of fun! :) Congrats on those long runs ladies- holy cow- a lot of effort to do it on the TM OR out in the cold temps. WTG!!!

Sooooo tired! As if 9 miles and a non-stop day yesterday wasn't enough, I also have a "super boot camp" class this morning! Once a month, my boot camp class meets on a sunday morning for an hour and a half long "super boot camp" class...and then to reward out hard work we all go to breakfast after :) I usually look forward to them because our trainer usually throws in some fun stuff on these extra-long classes (we're boxing today...love it when we do that!), but I'm just so exhausted today. A little bit of a happy-exhausted though...I was up throughout the night checking on my new kitty :cutie: who was a bit scared and spent most the night exploring her new home. She's an 8 month old Ragdoll and is just too cute for words. My other cat is still sniffing her out, but I think they'll both come around in the next day or two...in the meantime, I'll be drinking extra cups of coffee all day until I can finally get some sleep through the night! :surfweb: Hope everyone has a good rest day...or can get in their runs that they couldn't get in yesterday!

Great job to everyone who did their long runs yesterday! I'm going to bite the bullet today, and run my long run on the treadmill. I swore last week that I would make it outside for my long run, but I fear for my safety more than I fear 10 miles on the treadmill:rotfl:
Wish me luck!

I just happened to notice my ticker today.
In a few days it will be counting down in weeks instead of months!!!
We're getting so close!

I HAD a treadmill like that and it is horrible. My husband would say it made it more like running outside, but I argued that outside I get to go downhill occasionally! Unfortunately, that treadmill died a tragic death this week. I promptly bought a new one and that was one of the first things I looked at. That actually started out as my only criteria, but boy did I learn A LOT about treadmills in a 24 hour period.
