I got in 12 miles on Sunday in addition to selling beads to the Phillies and Eagles fans this weekend as part of my TNT fundraising. Everytime I get up from my desk I wonder why I'm sore until I remember that I practially did a half marathon yesterday!

Good job on the 12 miles!:woohoo:

got up this morning.....made plane reservations and room reservations at POFQ....arriving on Thurs out on Tuesday....I believe in taking my time LOL!! THEN did my 9miles! It was awesome, as usual!! Cant wait to see all of you there!

Sometimes it is hard to stay motivated. Coming here helps me, but it has been quieter here lately. Good job on the 9 miles!

I had a stinker of a run yesterday. It was like I had to convince my legs to take a step forward. I keep telling myself at least it didn't happen on a long run.

I'm about a month away from my next half so hopefully I'm getting those bad runs in now.

My next long run is this weekend 9.3 miles.
My 15k is in few weeks. I am getting very nervous.
It will be the longest run to date.
I still cant wait for the princess. I guess they are not sell the princess in training
shirts

Hi everyone!

I have read through most of this thread and it has me very excited for the race!

The Princess will be my first half. I have never been much of a runner, but the more I run, the more I am enjoying it. I ran 6.6 miles on Sunday, which is the furthest I have ever run, and it felt great! I'm looking forward to increasing my miles in the next few months. It feels so good to be improving at something that I have never been good at.

Well....I never thought I'd be enquiring about this, but here I am...wanting to do the Disney Princess Half marathon! I've been working out with a trainer three times a week since April and I've lost 22lbs. My trainer actually just completed the Chicago Marathon on the 10th of this month and she FREAKED when I told her last night I was looking into doing a 5k next month. I was just looking for some feedback from you Dis ladies who have done this marathon. Right now in the state I am in physically....I think I might die trying lol  but training with my marathon-er for the next 128 days, I just really would like to try this!!

THIS!

Its been a while, but I have done 2 1/2 marathons successfully following the Galloway Training. It just takes the commitment to doing the runs. I had to start over this summer since it had been a while but i know with the right training I will finish strong.

Welcome, this is a very nice group!...if not a little crazy.

Gyms are necessary sometimes! I belong to the local Y, and I had to run inside today because my kids are out of school, and you have to stay in the building if your kids are in the youth room. It killed me to run on the treadmill because it is beautiful today, but I am glad I could still get my run in. I know there will be some days during the winter when I have to hit the treadmill, but I hope they won't be a regular thing (I won't have as much snow as you will). Enjoy your new membership!

I know how you feel. I do my 30 min run on the treadmill because it's too cold for me outside early in the morning( yes,I live in Texas. and yes, I am a big chicken about cold weather). But it is so much harder for me to run 30 min on the treadmill than an hour outside. 3 months ago, I would have scoffed at anyone who told me I would feel that way.

Great job!!! Hope you sold lots of stuff.

I have been lacking motivation.... doing all this on my own was ok to start with but as time rocks on and it takes longer to do runs, it gets really hard to keep going....

Good for you for getting back out there and getting the 9 miles done! When I feel discouraged I come to these boards. Or I will look up trip reports or you-tube videos which help to keep me chugging along

I am so excited for you! I cannot wait to hear about it. You are doing the chocolate run, right? I looked it up, and it looks so so good. Have fun!

Things for me have been ok. I have been a bit discouraged because I have hit a bit of a plateau in terms of weight loss which is de-motivating me to run. I took last week off because my foot was bothering me, and it allowed me to get a little more rest. So this week, I feel a little better. And I am hoping the rest did the trick with regards to my weight loss.

I have had this issue to.
I bet with you taking a break you will start to loose again.
My diet sucks, I can not lie, but I have started to drop a few lbs after 2 months of standing still, I think because I have start to do weight training DVD. Jillian 30 day shread, once a week. That is the only thing I have changed.

No. They'll sweep you to the end if absolutely necessary - meaning you fall behind the 16-minute mile pace marker. But you won't be left alone.

...Hi all you Princess Peeps!!!

Just wanted to throw out some ideas to all the Dreadmill runners/walkers... (oops I meant treadmill), I know weather/time constraints make getting outside tough.
I would recommend getting outside in some weather. You just NEVER know what the conditions of race day will be. (example Jan Marathon weekend that had freezing rain, snow flurries and ice!) So getting out in the cold, heat, early evening (as races in FL start way before the sun comes up) and even rain is helpful in a way that makes you "prepare". You then feel that you have done it before so if it happens on race day, you are good to go!!!
Also, if you mostly do treadmill, try to get out on the road or something when you can. When you run/walk on a treadmill you are "keepin up" with the machine's speed, when you are out on the roads you are powering your own speed. Pavement/asphalt/concrete feel different than the padded belt of the treadmill.
Just giving my two cents!

Keep up the good training everyone! End of February will be here before you know it.

Well, sort of. The time limit is 3.5 hours from when the last person crosses the start line. They will sweep you if they think you can't make it to the end in time to satisfy that requirement. Unless you are the last person in the last corral, you can finish in 3:40-4:00 and still finish. Proof of this can be seen in last year's results, as well as personal experience of someone in the group I went with last year.

I have also heard that as long as you make it into Epcot (the last mile or so), you will finish, but I don't have any proof on that one.

Right... People were reporting that at the Wine and Dine the ultimate slowest pace was marked by people with balloons, and if you were behind them and didn't make it to a certain point or pass them by a given time (given by course officials) you would be swept. That's what I meant by "16-minute mile marker".

Not everyone hates the treadmill. Some of us actually like it.

And not everyone "keeps up" with the belt. I regularly outpace the belt both walking and running (example...the treadmill will say 5 mph, which would be a 12 minute mile...but my pace per my Garmin is UNDER 12 minutes and my distance is further than the treadmill says it is...ergo I'm running faster than the treadmill).

And yes, it's good to get outside on occasion, but not essential to do every run outside. I'm doing as much outside as I can, but frankly it's not necessarily going to be safe for me to be outside either in my neighborhood (especially in my neighborhood) or in the parks after dark by myself, and I don't have a running partner. My Saturday long runs are always outside because I'm with my running club (or they at least know I'm out there and left my stuff in the church where we meet so if I don't show back up they know to come looking for me and/or send help) AND it's during daylight.

You do what you're able. And my training plan says that if you have to do treadmills and indoor workouts, that's fine. To try your best to make the long run outside. So I figure I'm pretty much golden there.

When one lines up for the race which corral do you get into? My question is because I read above that once the last person crosses the start line the time starts 3.5 hours from then. So for a walker wouldnt it make sense to try to start in the earliest corral you can in order to give yourself some lee way in case your pace slips?
I dont know if that can be done as I have never done a half before however I am considering it but have a lot of anxiety over the possiblitly of being swept and not finishing to get the medal. What a total defeat that would be to me. So I dont want to sign up with that possibility in mind lol
