Nancy I have no suggestions for the diet, but I know how you feel. I used to snack on Goldfish (purchased at Costco in the 58oz box). I finally stopped buying them. That is really my only diet suggestion. If you don't think you should be eating it, don't buy it! Snacks are ususally my downfall. So now I try to eat dried fruits, nuts (and watch the quantities).

Hope your running perks up.

Nancy~I love Weight Watchers. Rejoined for the last time 3.5 years ago. Joined in May of 2007 and started C25K in June. I have been running and on Weight Watchers ever since.

I went from a size 16 to a size 4. Lost a total of 65 pounds and maintain with 3-5 pounds of that loss. I went from thinking there was no way I could run to having run some 5K's and finally pushed myself in July and trained for my first Half Marthon, which I completed 2 weeks ago in 2:21 minutes.:woohoo:

If Goldfish are a problem, I suggest getting them out of the house. Remove trigger foods and replace then with something healthy. Or buy the little snack size bag and eat JUST one bag. Believe in yourself, do this for YOU, YOU are worth the effort.:)

hi all just checking in :)

i've still been struggling with my running the last two weeks or so. don't know what it is but i just feel like crap lately. oh wait, i know what it is. i eat terribly. i wish i had motivation to eat better. is anyone following a good nutrition plan? if i have something specific to follow i'm usually pretty good at that. if left up to my own, i eat my son's goldfish crackers all day! :scared1:

dh is going in late for work since he has a meeting downtown so i'm taking this opportunity to get out and run without the jogger.

and for those of you who haven't booked flights, i would suggest at least looking them up asap! the flights from nyc are already getting to be fairly expensive. i'm using miles to get down b/c $500 round trip just wasn't in the budget.

have great runs everyone!!

Nancy

Nancy, I am right there with you on the diet. And for me it is hard to eat great with my kids and running around. With work and sports and such.
I started to buy the 100 cal packs for my snacks. I take them to work with my salad. (please note, I don't always stick to that, I suck!!)

WOW WOW WOW size 16 to a 4 hold cow. I tried WW in January of this year, for me it was so hard and stressfull. I feel I have as much as I can deal with getting my runs in. HOWEVER!! I have went from a TIGHT size 18 to a kinda baggy 16 , I have lost 25lbs and I have lowered my blood work all down to the Normal levels.

How did you stick to the WW???

Have you thought about your vitamin/mineral intake? I know I went through a patch awhile back where I had no "get-up-and-go", and felt really crappy while running and any exercise. Someone suggested adding more Vitamin D and making sure I got enough iron and protein, and it helped. Just a thought.

I'm goining in on the thread. At the moment I'm on the fence about doing the Princess.

I just finished the Wine and Dine, my first half, a few weeks ago. I was nearly swept, but made it somehow. My friend however was swept, and wants to try again. I just hate that it's in the middle of peak season. Rooms and flights are so expensive for a weekend trip. :sad2:

looking for advice for my spectators---cheerleaders coming with me on my trip. My mom and my aunt keep asking me questions and I have no answers. I thought some of you who did this last year could help.

1. Can they see me start the race...where do they stand or go...and to do they have to leave as early as I am to do so?

2. Will the main st bakery be opened in MK that morning while they wait for me to arrive at cinderellas castle?

3. Will they be able to see me cross the finish line?

I know they plan on taking the monorail from epcot to MK and back to watch me. The monorails will be running at that time right?

The Princess falls at the end of Presidents' Day week when a lot of schools are out, so yeah...flights are going to be pretty expensive at that time.

Yeah, that's my issue, as well. Peak season plus a holiday weekend may make this completely cost prohibitive.

you are so right...i need to just not buy the goldfish! i buy them because my 16 month old LOVES them. it's hard to find anything he actually likes and eats so i buy them. he's young enough though that if i stopped buying them he probably wouldn't even notice! my downfall is salty snacks. mmmm

wow! you are an inspiration! what an accomplishment! before my son i was really good at keeping trigger foods out of the house. i think i use him as an excuse to buy and the goodies that i love!

i did weight watchers about 10 years ago and did really well with it. it made me a little crazy though. i tend to get very OCD about the points! still, it's worth checking back into just to get myself back on track.

thanks for that thought. i just know that if i ate more well-rounded meals i would do so much better!

i got a chance to run this am without the jogger and i ran 4.1 miles at a 10:13 min/mile pace. i'm pretty happy with that! i felt so much better today than my previous runs.

then, i got on the scale and i'm up FIVE pounds since last week! FIVE!!:scared1:

Nancy, don't worry so much about the 5 lb weight gain. Could be ANY number of things, included increased muscle mass, or too many goldfish :) I'm currently eating a double bacon cheeseburger and fries. I'll work it off tonight in the park.

I am look for a calorie counting App for my phone A Droid.
Anyone have any suggestions

Jo- I know sometimes the iphone and Droids have the same apps. I have used the livestrong one but right now I use one called loseit. If they don't have either of them I installed one for a girl I work with on her droid, I'll check with her and let you know the name of it.

I have a question about your strategy for visiting the parks. This is the first half race for my friend and me. We are just going down for the weekend, but we'd like to spend a bit of time at a park if we can. Do you attempt to see any of the parks while you are there? And if so, do you wait till after the race or do you do it before hand? We don't want to over-do it before the race. But I also don't want to pay for a park ticket and then have the money go to waste when I can't get out of bed the next day!

I do the parks the day before, the day of, and the day after! It's Disney...I'm not missing a magical day when I'm there!

I am planning to do the parks, just not as much as usual. On Saturday, we are going to do the Keys to the Kingdom tour in the morning, and then enjoy MK. We will probably turn in early. We are planning to go to a park after the race as well, but we haven't decided where, and we will go back and shower and rest first. I am usually a huge planner and try to cram in as much as possible. On race weekend, I'm going to go with the flow!

we'll pretend it's increased muscle mass, ok?? :)

i arriving on friday and leaving sunday night. i'm hoping and praying that after the race i'll be able to shower in our room (check out is at 11 i think and i don't know if they'll let us shower!). friday and saturday i am definitely hitting the parks and i will TRY to not overdo it. it will be hard though! my flight home is around 6pm. i just realized that i won't be landing back in LGA until midnight since i have a layover. :scared1: omg it's going to be like the longest day EVER!!!

Ditto this, although I regretted picking EPCOT as my Wine & Dine Half Marathon day... too much walking.

Yes! I was thinking that I would try to avoid Epcot, or at least the World Showcase. Way too much walking! I think we'll just get park hoppers so we can pick and choose.
