You mean Half, right? :D

There'll be lots of other people from the boards in your same situation. Start a thread and see if anyone wants to stay at the same resort/split a room/go to the parks together.

Thanks for the idea! Luckily I have some time to see how things end up working out with DH's schedule and to get to know some people on the board. I will probably meet some at the Wine and Dine too. I don't think I would feel comfortable starting a thread to split a room with someone I do not know, or who does not know me though. It's a great idea though and definitely something I will consider as I get to know some fellow WISHers. :goodvibes Thanks again!!

Poohlove- Like I said, decisions decisions! I think if I ended up going solo I would try to keep it simple and short as well. I also think there are great things to both sides for you- going solo and taking the kids, so it sounds like a win win situation for you either way. :) Let me know how it goes and what you end up deciding to do!

Can anyone tell me about the shirt?? It's a tech shirt- but is it short sleeve, long sleeve? I think I probably wear a medium unless they run big. In regular tshirts I take a small but in longsleeve or tech type tshirts I'm usually a medium (or heck, large based on the last shirt I got).

I'm 5'4'' about a size 6.

I think I read somewhere that they run small, but now I can't remember where I read that. I usually wear a large to XL now in those type of shirts depending on the brand, but i plan on continuing to lose some weight as my training progresses, so I went ahead and ordered a large anyway since they might run a little small. I remember looking at this race last year and saw that you could order "Princess In Training" shirts to wear in the months before the race during training...does anyone have one of those and remember how soon after registration opened that those were available for purchase? I hope they do that again, they were really cute and I would definitely order one. They have some for sale for the Disneyland Half and I think even for Disney World for next year already...hopefully we'll get one for the Princess.

Karen, the shirt from last year definitely ran small. It is short sleeve, and performance/wicking material.

I was an XL in a tech tshirt at the time, and needed an XXL. It's way too big now though. :)

My friend who is about your size was happy with the L, unless you want it to fit tight.

I have all the princess in training stuff from this year. They posted them on the Disneystore website in September. I liked that much better than the shirt they gave at registration. I ran in my long sleeve Princess in Training shirt over one of my Nike Running tops thinking that it would get dumped along the way...but nope! I am not a big fan of the Champion brand but this stuff was okay. I wish that Nike would sponsor it! I love their exercise clothes and shoes!

thanks! and totally agree with you about Champion...not a big fan of their work out clothes. Nike stuff is definitely my favorite...their Dri-fit stuff works so much better than any other "wicking" stuff I've tried...and I swear by their running specific socks with extra support in the arch. I call them my "magic socks." I'm also toying with the idea of creating a crazy pair of shoes on NikeID to break in and use for the run next year. You can really do some fun stuff with the shoes and it's not that much extra!

Does anyone know if there is any Disney themed running gear available? Not necessarily princess themed, but something with Mickey or Minnie.

The only official stuff that I have seen is on the Disney website but they are related to a specific run...the Disneyland Half or the Disney World Full or Half. Ive seen other more general gear, but if I remember correctly, it was at the World of Disney Store in DD...last year maybe.

Does anyone know what beverages are served at the drink stations during race? I know they switch on and off between water and one of the power drinks, just wasn't sure if it was gatorade. (Should be interetsing since I am not usually a power drink person, but thought I would start to experiment using the same drink that is typically served while training)

Are there drink stations at every mile?

Here is a map of the race course and they have the water stations marked.

Drinks are not at every mile-check course map for hydration stops.

They have poweraid (many say it is watered down, I don't know) and water at every stops-I only do water. They have poweraid first and as you move through stop they have water. There is one "food" stop. Gels-yuck! I like to carry sport beans.
Hope that helps

I just bought a gel yesterday to sample and try, so we will see, the nutritioon factor here while running is not my cup of tea...hehehe

I bought hammer gel: apple cinnamon and the person Iat the running store was telling me it is one of the brads that he finds to be easy on the stomach and claims this gel taste like some apple pie....Lets hope it does.

Now if you use gels during the race do you think you will need to drink the power drinks or can I get away with the water?

Becasue I heard You should always switch between water and power drink becasue of the electrolytes?

I am new to all of this so please help.

Now I prefer gels because I can't stand the beans and Chomps/Bloks getting in my teeth. Its a huge distraction LOL. My favorite is GU Chocolate Outrage. OMG! Its like brownie batter. YUMMO! The key to all of this is to try these things out during training. You NEVER EVER want to try something new on race day.

So I have heard....hehe

Now if you do the gels during race, do you still need take power drink, or no?

I have "heard" to drink water when you "eat" the gel to help it into the body. I don't really know.
It takes me about three miles to eat a pack of beans as I like to eat them one at a time and squish then in the roof of my mouth and enjoy the fruity flavor!:rotfl2:

Yea I have heard that to, about drinking water to help the gel go down

I just registered for the princess half two days ago! :) I'm soooo excited! I ran it this year but I didn't train at all... the only thing that kept me going was all the characters! haha (: & I'm glad they didn't put it in March again because it'd be too close to my birthday! but I hope february isn't too chilly!! :cheer2:
