Official 2011 MNSSHP Party Planning Thread ..BOO to You and You..Happy Halloween!

do they like Disney? Do they want to met any characters?

When I was there age I liked Universals or Bush Gardens scarier parties, I still do, but I'm going this year to MNSSHP with my 4yr old neice. I probably won't be going anymore after this year though, unless I have my own kids, & I don't want kids. The fun aunt is more...fun :goodvibes

They love Disney, and think it sounds like fun to see the characters in the party outfits. We aren't going to any others parks this trip. :)

I'm wondering about character greets as well. This will be the first party we attend but I haven't bought tickets yet because I can't convince my DH that it's worth the money. (I'm working on him.)

Last year's party had the Alice treat trail in a now-closed area and all the Tarzen characters where the new Pixie Hollow is now. So I'm wondering if they just won't have those this year (which seems likely, the way things are going) or if they will move them or have new options. Can't wait for the report after the first party!

We did face painting first lined up at 6:50 was done by7:10

I remember how hot
It was sept last year it was smokin hot I was a pirate and I made the costume with the heat in mind ( it was a Florida version ll) and I roasted. I made my sons agent p out of green mesh material. I will
Still
Dress up
Again though

Been watching the mail like a hawk this week waiting for my tickets. Does anyone know what kind of envelope they come in? I ordered them last week, so they should be getting here. So excited! Still trying to figure out my costume and I will try to keep the florida weather in mind. DD still says she want's to be Ariel, so we'll be headed to our local Disney store to pick up the dress next week:banana:

I'm going to wait to buy my tickets there. Can I buy them at my resort lobby a day before? (or at all at the resort).
Or do I have to buy them at the park?
And can I buy them a day before at the park?
I'm going to the 9/30 party.

We are planning on going on 11/1 again. I was hoping to wait and get the tickets mid September, but don't want to be shut out of it either.

(Sort of OT, but we thought the crowds were very manageable, even though it was a sell out. We watched Hallowishes from Main Street- arriving maybe 10 minutes before and sitting wherever. We watched the 2nd parade, near the Ice Cream Parlor, and were 2nd row, arriving 15 minutes early (but missed the Headless Horseman).)

Thank you for this! I was starting to get really nervous about going to a sold out party on 11/1. I'm reassured to hear from someone who would do it again! Do you have kids?

I'd love to hear from anyone else who has experienced a 10/31 or 11/1 party! We're planning to take DD who will be 4 for the 11/1 party. Please help reassure me we can still have a good time. It'll be our first party. I really just want to do the treat trails, a dance party (prob at the Diamond Horseshoe, we love Toy Story), and see the parade and fireworks. If we let DD have enough candy, I'm sure we'll be able to do the second parade! I'm still contemplating whether we'll try to do character photo-ops.

I've been on a sold out night twice and then a less busy nights several times as well.

I'd do a sold out night again myself if that is all I had to choose from BUT you need to be prepared with a plan and set of priorities and you have to realize you probably won't get to do everything you want to do. Even on a non-sold out night, the night flies by.

At the parties, the most crowded things are the party-specific things like the free face-painting, the shows, the parade and fireworks and the character meet and greets. Most of the rides are practically walk ons.

So if you are going to focus on party specific things, you need to have a plan and set priorities. If you want to do character ops, you will waste a lot of party time waiting in lines. If you also want your face painted, then you may not be able to ride rides or see a show but may still have time for the parade and fireworks. It's a matter of priorities.

If you are going for the atmosphere, riding rides and trick or treating then you will probably think it's not so bad. :thumbsup2

But you will not be able to ride several rides, do the parade and fireworks, trick or treat, do face painting, and meet lots of characters. There just isn't enough time for all that with all the waiting you'll be doing in the character lines.

I'd still do a sold out night again though, in a heartbeat! :)

Is there more than one location for face painting? I looked at last year's map and there doesn't appear to be any location marked.

Is there any kind of opening show at 7? Or, is most of the crowd going to be dispersing and lining up for characters and face painting already when the party "starts"?

We have done MNSSHP twice- once when DS was 2 and last year at 7. Both were sold out nights. Both times, we stayed until the very end!

I admit, a lot of the "party" aspects are not part of our plan. For example, besides a photo with Mickey & Minnie, we tend not to see the characters. (The 7 Dwarves were of no interest to DS! Ditto for the picture with Cindy's carriage.)

As for face painting, he had an appointment at the Pirate's League at 4pm last year, so we didn't need to wait for that.

We have never even attempted to watch the first parade (even when he was 2). We use parade and firework time to ride the rides without much wait. (Although we do head towards Main Street to watch the fireworks just before they start. We aren't picky about where we stand since we are only there to watch, not video tape or take photos)

We do trick or treat and play games, but a lot of that is later in the evening when the families have gone home.

I will say, that for whatever reason, the sold out MNSSHP parties do not feel as crowded to me as the sold out MVMCP parties do.

HTH! :goodvibes

We are going to be in MK on a MNSSHP day. We aren't staying for the party on this particular night, and I was wondering, if we are in line for a ride before 7 will we be able to ride after 7 if the line takes that long? I've read they are strict about the no bracelet, no stay policy. I just didn't want to wait in a long line only for us to be told we couldn't ride.

Thanks!

If your in line at 7pm you will be able to ride, but if your just walking into the line at, well if I was the CM I'd say a few, like 3 minutes after 7, but I'm not so..., then you would probably be turned away, since it is officially party time and you won't have a bracelet on. So be in a line at 7pm! Once you are done, I think you will be asked to leave.

The face painting used to be in 2 locations: Toontown and Adventureland. I have no clue where it will be this year.

No, there is no opening show at 7p. The party just starts. Some people will get in lines for characters or the face painting before 7p but nothing will happen till after 7p.

There isn't any opening show, or anything. It's just when you are allowed to start trick or treating and getting pics with characters you wouldn't normally. I wouldn't be worried too much about the crowds, they won't disappear, but keep in mind, even a sold out night is WAY WAY less people in the park than normal. Wait to trick or trick till later in the night, they give away more candy and less people are trick or treating. Right at 7, everyone wants to run, run, run through and get all the candy, and that's when they are super strict about the here is your 2 pieces and that is it. :) Hope this helps!

So long as you are ALREADY in line right before 7, you should, key word, should be fine. But expect to be kicked out right after getting off the ride. They check your bracelet at ride entrance, not when you get into vehicle or start ride. But if it is 7 pm on the dot, you won't get on. You should just buy tix and go to MNSSHP!!! It is the MOST fun Disney thing EVER!!!!!!!!

This is going to be our first MNSSHP. Going on Sept. 27th! I can't wait.

DS (8) is going to be Sora
DD (will be 4) is going to be Tiana
I am doing a steampunk type costume

I have no idea what my DH is doing yet. My family is all coming too and they are dressing up as well.

If I remember correctly, the Villians at the Mix n' Mingle only take pictures, but don't sign...is that correct?

Just bought my tickets for the first night. :) It's gonna be weird doing Halloween in the first half of September. LOL
