Official 2011 MNSSHP Party Planning Thread ..BOO to You and You..Happy Halloween!

What costumes are you wearing? Just wondering....

DW and I will be pirates (left over from our last cruise). DD(9) will be Jasmine. DNephew will also be coming, I think he's going as a Christmas Elv.

If it were me, I wouldn't have such a late dining reservation before the party, unless it were inside MK, especially on Halloween night. By the time you eat and take the boat to MK, the party will have probably already started and Halloween always sells out. I would be in the park when you can start getting in at 4 so you are in the middle of the action and ready to go when the festivities begin at 7. If there are any special photo ops you are looking forward to, the lines will most likely be long by the time you get there.

To each his own.... but I absolutely agree. We always eat IN the park around 4 so we can take our time, not stress about missing anything, and be in line for our favorite photo op well in advance of 7.

For those of you interested in Cindy's carriage......... FYI........ they usually opened that one up a little early. We were able to do this and still be in line for the dwarfs at 6:30. So we had 2 headline long lines done by 7:15.

Thank you both! Based on your suggestions, I changed my dinner plans to 5:25 @ LTT. Do you think that is too late? They also had a 4:10, but I thought that would be too early since we are planning on spending the morning/afternoon at TL. My parents will be dining with us, but will not be staying for the party. I assume that will not be a problem.

Thinking of going to MNSSHP for the first time. My question is we are AP holders until September 20, we will not be able to renew for next year as DD will be in high school. Our trip is planned for 9/14-9/25. We are going to hang around resort the last few days and I was thinking of going to the party on 9/23. Can I buy AP discounted tickets for 9/23 and pick them up by the 20th as that will be my last day with a valid pass?

Depends on where they are staying. Lines for buses can be long at the end of the night and buses can make more than one stop. At least at TTC parking lot, it's one boat or monorail and they are at their vehicle.

We will either be staying at POP or Coronado Springs...does that help?

Has anyone ever attended the party on the day after Halloween? The Nov 1 party? What are the crowds like? I'm also looking at the party dates during the week of Oct 8 to the 15th, what would the crowds be like then? I'm still planing things out so any info would be helpful.

Seems like it would be perfect for hot weather and the skirt isnt frilly like others Ive seen so that means riding attractions will be much easier. And Ill be wearing ballet slippers, no heals! My question, because I wont be there with my husband and might feel less self-confident, is this appropriate? In 07 I was Jasmine, and it was very tasteful but still showed some skin, but because I was with husband and having a blast, i felt 100% comfortable and loved being a princess w/my prince.

You could get a very fair colored wig and just dye it blazing red. Or there is also this site which does custom color orders on some of their wigs. This one looks neat as is!

Love that 2nd one! Just be careful with "costume" wigs...they are usually made so cheaply that they don't come off looking nearly as nice as the promo photos. You can't really brush them and such should you get any wind or tangles, etc (which is bound to happen).

I'm still so on the fence about this. Halloween is my favorite holiday but we would be going on the 23rd over a whole month before Halloween. Plus it kills me to pay for more tickets after we've already paid for park hoppers and waterpark option for five days.

Plus it's going to be hot which limits the costume ideas. Like I'd love to go as Cruella and DH as a dalmation but that won't work in the heat. The only other idea I kinda like is Peter Pan and Tiger Lily but I'm betting there will be alotta Peter Pans based on this thread alone. I like Alice and Mad Hatter but I have long thick dark hair so I'm not sure if I could wear a wig.

It's hard to get psyched about spending more money at Disney for a Halloween party when you don't have any stellar costume ideas and it's in September!

ETA: Ok I have an idea from Flight of the Conchords, but only some parents will get it, no kids at all, or at least I hope not! Hmmmm

When to MNSSHP twice last Sept. It was a lot of fun. We looking at possibly doing a a trip to WDW for 10/29-11/05 w/ FD. The last MNSSHP is on 07/01. Does anyone have any comments on how busy the 07/01 party is? I know Halloween 10/31 will most likely be packed and sold out.

Ok, I admit I haven't read this whole thread, so sorry if I have missed some answers!

We are planning on going Oct. 28, first time ever!

1) Normally we go in July, so how crowded is MNSSHP compared to the 4th of July?

2) How about the weather?

3) What happens if it rains? Do they hold this anyway? If cancelled do you get your money back?

The only other night possible for us to go is the 27th, and we wouldn't get there until 9:00, and I've heard it wouldn't be worth it just for the couple hours. Opinions?

As long as you have a valid AP when you pick up your tickets, you are eligible for the AP rate. AP tickets must be picked up at Will Call, but you can do that at any time up to the time of the party. I saw that your vacation starts on 9/14, so you could even go that day to get your tickets. I know this works because I've done it before with MVMCP tickets. I ordered online at the AP rate which expired two days before the party, but picked the tickets up 5 days before. There were no issues whatsoever because my AP was valid when I bought and picked up the tickets.

DD (20), wore one like that last year and she received lots of compliments on it. There were a number of costumes like that last year. I don't think you would feel out of place at all.
