"Official 2008 WDW Planning DVD Watch" Thread

I agree. We always talk about Dave and benches when we are at WDW. The energy of the video was good and gets us excited about going on our trip. But the YOAMD video is just too boring. It doesn't get us excited to go to the parks. It's ok in it's own way, but it's not for us.

Bring back the gang and bring back the energy.

I just called Disney and the CM I spoke to said that the YOOMD has in fact been extended into 2008 and so they're (as far as she's heard) not going to have a new planning DVD. I'm kinda disappointed. I wasn't that excited about the theme so I was hoping for something new. Oh well!

I've merged all these threads.

CM's on the phone would have NO idea if a new planning DVD is in the works or not.

I'd say it probably is simply because of the new rides & attractions etc that will be forthcoming as well as the changes to the dining plan etc.

I know it's not a TOTALLY different DVD, but I ordered the same YOMD this summer to see if it had changed (hey, it's free, why not). Everything is the same, but it does have a little more info and footage from the newer additions like Nemo & Laugh Floor. THe one from last October just showed concept art because the rides hadn't been open yet but the "refreshed" version has more footage of people actually on the newer rides instead of just concept art.

I personally like the narrated versions better - that 2005 one was just plain cheesy. I know some people have said they enjoyed the energy of it, but to me it just seemed like they were "cheesing up" these classic attractions that really weren't cheesy. If they do have another DVD set up like that one, I hope most of the hosts are like that 2005 woman host that did the younger children section - she seemed like she was informing you everything you needed to know without taking a "this is a totally super cool ride, man" mood. I also thought the teen section of the YOMD DVD was cheesy. Just my opinion, though.

Does anyone remember the drama last year with the 2007 videos? People in random states would all get theirs, but others wouldn't. It's like everyone ordered them around the same time but the east coast got theirs first, then the southwest...I remember feeling so left out! lol

Anyway, I'm looking forward to a new video!

Add us to the "anxiously awaiting a new video" list. We have the one w/ Dave and the gang as well as the sappy YoaMD version. Dave is the family favorite...each of us can find ourselves in that video (I'm the family Dave btw).

Just got mine and it's the same as 2007, or is 2007. I did notice that it had stuff about the new High School Musical "parade". Did the 2007 one have that? I haven't had a chance to go back and check yet. Perhaps this one IS the 2008 version and all they did was add in a couple things.
