Office 2007 - Can Anyone Help?

We recently switched to Office 2007 at work and our tech department can't help us with a problem we are having (our tech department...there's a helpful bunch!). Anyway, we're frustrated and I'm hoping someone here might know what we need to do. When we double click on a document to open it, the program opens (ie; Word or Excel), but the document will not. The only way we can open a document is to go in through the program, find the file and open it. We can't open it from the document itself. Does anyone else have this problem and does anyone know how it fix it?

A word of warning with Office 2007. The default document format for Word is .docx and for Excel is .xlsx. It is generally considered poor form to save the document in either format if you don't know for a fact that the person you are sending it it has Office 2K7. While they can be converted people without admin rights on their network may not be able to do so. If the document is being sent to another company or to someone in house with an older version of Office just change the document type to .doc (Word) or .xls (Excel). It will save you a lot of resending documents to people who don't have the ability to open the newer formats.

It's a common problem with Office 2007. I work in I.T. and we have actually solved this problem using the method below. It's a little in depth and can be overwhelming but here's the solution :

The solution above is for excel but works exactly the same for Word.

Another cause for this is the virus scan. If your company uses norton or Symantec, this can be the cause also.
