Offical Check-In List 10/30/04 "Magic"

Ginger: Thank heavens there will be someone else not dressed up! But I did notice that you included "shorts" in your description. I hoped you learned from my earlier mistake. It is just too hard for me to worry about a costume because by the time I get my kiddies in their outfits--I'm a sweaty mess. They never hold still, and I predict that one of them will change their mind about their costume once we're on the boat.
I'm thinking that I'll probably be able to come up with something for pirate night, they're pretty casual folks, aren't they? Will it matter if my drawn on whiskers are smudged with perspiration?

Michelle- the little one (Matthew) is doing great. He slept all night until 6:00 this morning. I normally sleep till 9:00 but hey its only till Friday.WE watched Finding Nemo off and on 2 times all the way through. It is his favorite.:D

Ginger- I will be more than happy to bring the ice. Is 4:30 by the pool the decided time?

I tested out Rick's new digital underwater camera in our pool this weekend, it works great. My pool goes to 8 ft but the camera is good for underwater to 30ft. The pool is a burrr 74 degrees. We are going to Coral World in St. Thomas and Rick is doing the underwater helmet trekking.

I guess I will start packing next week. I have been getting things together. I need to print out my final notes from the computer and fill out my cruise forms. I have my door sign printed and
ready to hang.:teeth:

Teri

Morning everyone,

Well, I got together my bags for T or T and now I'm worried. See, I bought halloween bubbles for the kids, and now I'm wondering if they will spill when we fly. Back to the drawing board.

Teri: Gald your little one slept till 6. My DD used to watch the same movie for days on end. Then sing all the songs. Kids are funny!!! How did you test the underwater camera in 74 degrees water? Did you get in? Too cold for me!!:hyper:

Ginger: I'm glad you posted about the head scarfs. I was going to buy some, now I won't. Just wear black, the head scarf and I'm done. As for T or T, I'm wearing my bowa, and calling it a day.

I think I need a suitcase for all the Halloween stuff my DS is bringing. That will be funny when scanned. A suitcase full of Halloween junk. This is his favorite holiday!!!:Pinkbounc :bounce: :Pinkbounc

All the suitcases are in the spare bedroom and we have started taking clothes out of the drawers and put them into that room. Soon I won't be able to walk in there.

Well, better go. Off to work today.

Michelle

Michelle -- Last cruise I think one of the families we were traveling with bought those bubbles for the send off -- I think they were fine. Just put the stuff in zip-lock baggies like Ginger does some of here precious cargo. It should be fine!

Teri, I think your right about the 4:30 met, I'll only be able to stay for that a few minutes. I'll have to pick up my DH at Grills by 5, that's when his fishing excursion boat is due back in. Darn, you must have froze your butt off testing that camera, BURRRR is right.

Robyn, theme nights are very casual.

Michelle, I'm wearing my bowa, and calling it a day.,
another nudie cutie among us. My DH is going to love this cruise.:jumping1:
Your bubbles didn't come with a foil seal?
I ordered bubbles from OT to hand out to the DIS kids that we meet on Saturday. I thought they could blow them as the ship sails from port.

I hope the ship has there T-or-T on Sunday also, in the past they have placed plastic T-or-T bags in the staterooms for each child staying in that room.

Make sure you all make a copy of the T-or-T list before you leave home. I've added the final location of each group, don't want any of our Group Leaders going home with real live souvenirs.

Well off to work-out then to Costco for a few last minute things, then I've got to pick-up my little darling after school to take her to get a good hair trimming. Boy, it never ends, does it.

We have never been on a Halloween crusie and have a few questions about the costumes. My DHis about to melt down with all the costumes. He is wondering how we are going to get them on the plane. I have been sewing forever now making theses costumes and I say they are going. How dressed up do people get? I was not planning on dressing up, as I am tired of sewing. Are there a lot of people who do not dress up?

Please , someone give me some advice. I do not know what to expect. We have children and adults. Do they do the adults by themselves. Can adults dress up with children (kinda a theme)?

Help...anyone who has done this cruise before

You are not obligated to dress in costume at all, if you would rather not. Some people go all out for the Halloween activities. Others do nothing.

You can dress as a "group," but children have a separate costume contest from the adults. Just a note: For those who want to compete in the adult costume contest, sometimes they make you get out on the dance floor and dance in order to have your costume judged! That was my experience on the Wonder. I'm hoping it won't be the case on the Magic (Ginger - Do you or anyone else here know about that?). I've cruised on the Magic but not at Halloween.

It isn't that I refuse to dance - I just don't like sweating and particularly when in costume!

As for dressing for the other themed events, that too is entirely voluntary. To be honest, only die-hard Disney cruisers are likely to do so. You can enjoy the festivities in the dining room and the deck parties without dressing to the theme, if you prefer.

/
faireygod mother, this will be our 4th Halloween cruise on the Magic and our 7th cruise in all with Disney.
Shari, is correct, you don't have to get dressed up.
But, since you've sewed your little heart out there, I'm with you. Come Hell or High Waters those costumes would be going. Put that looped skirt in a bag and carry it on that plane.

Now about the costume contest. During the day when the ship is having their T-or-T for the kids they have a contest for the little one. I don't think it's much but it's something for them. Then that night they have one for the adults or it's suppose to be for the adults. It always ends up being a family thing and usually a DARN Chimney Sweep theme family wins it. My DD says that if they win it again this year then next we're going as brooms to beat their butts. Gheez, I hope you aren't going as chimney sweeps.:teeth:

Shari, I'm not sure about dancing, never saw that happen on the Magic. The contest is held on Deck 3 and 4 Midship in the lobby. They have the contestant come down the staircase outside of Lumiere's.
BTW, the Navigator may say that the contest is for adults but, like I said above it doesn't happen that way. Also this contest doesn't usually get started till 10:15 p.m..

Now Shari, I've seen some pretty wild things happen at Bingo. I've seen the CM's get people to dance, moo like a cow, acted like other animals, stand on their chairsand sing. The laughs just go on and on at Bingo.

Glad to hear that, Ginger! :teeth:

On the Wonder, if you were not on the dance floor, you were not judged. You didn't HAVE to dance, but if one just stood there surrounded by all those who were dancing (because the music was loud and a fast beat) then one looked rather idiotic.

I don't think any kids were judged with the adults on the Wonder in the adult costume contest. I think they had a family or group contest just before that. Not entirely sure.

However, on both ships I imagine the "agenda" is up to whomever happens to be the Cruise Director on that sailing. So we shall see . . .

No sweating in costumes . . no sweating in costumes . .

Hey Shari,

When you get to LTT on the 28th look for someone wearing a Flamingo Hat, a Fish hat and a kid wearing a Halo. (those are our costumes for MNSSHP)

That will be us!!!

Michelle and Ginger- Yes I swam in the cold water to test the camera. I also swam to day and the water was 73. At least it was warm and sunny outside, VERY REFRESHING!!:fish: :fish: My Husband thinks I am crazy but I love the water.

Everyone's costume's are sounding great. I can't wait to see them.

This will be our first Halloween cruise also. I love Halloween because I was born the day before Halloween.

18 More days till we cruise!!!

Teri

Has anybody checked to see how full our cruise is? DD and SiL are considering trying to upgrade to an outside room at the terminal. Anybody know if there's rooms to spare?

Good morning everyone! It's been a few days since I last posted. But I have been reading all of the other replys.

Pat- alan will probably email you this weekend. He has been busy this week. Tell your son to keep an eye out on friday.

Jimbo- I just checked DCL website and they still have openings in Cat 4, 5, 6, 8, and 11. So your relatives could check about an upgrade.

Starting to pack the non-essentials. Got all the treat bags packed and ready to go. CD's are labeled, put in plastic containers and bubbled wrapped to make sure noone breaks them. Just remember your digital connectors so we can download the pictures right away. I will bring my laptop to the lobby. Should only take a few minutes to download the pictures and I can start burning them later in the afternoon.

Hope everyone has a wonderful Hump day!

Good morning all.

We have been fighting the common cold here in our house. UGH!!!:( Hopefully we will all be better before the cruise.

TERI: BRRRR that is cold water:bitelip: We just got solar panels for our pool this past march and I keep that sucker up to 95.

We have our TorT bags just about ready to go now. And I have Emily's extras, diapers, formula, medicine etc. packed and ready. She had decided she no longer wants jar baby food for lunch and dinner. She would much rather eat whatever we are eating. So at least I dont have to pack too much baby food.

I also got my DD and DS dinner clothes washed and ready to be packed. Unfortunately, when I was trying on some of my clothes, they were a little tight, so I got depressed and baked chocolate chip cookies.:guilty: I can't seem to get off the last 5 lbs of pregnancy weight.

Oh well. I will just have to go shopping for some other cruise clothes to wear!:teeth:

Have a great day everyone.

Dena::MinnieMo

On the upgrade thing, I checked to, and for 4 people, either adults or combo kids and adults only cat 4 came up. There must be a lot more available for 3 people or less.
Donna

Jimbo what Cat. are they in now.

Two years ago we had booked a SPR which is a Cat. 10 we wanted to upgrade to a Cat 4 which they had available. To go from the 10 would have cost us over $1100. needless to say we declined. But we were traveling with friends who were in a Cat. 9 and they did upgrade to a 4 and it only cost them $375.
These prices were from 2 years ago not sure if they'll be the same this year.

They're in an 11 right now. I doubt that they'd want to pay $1100 to upgrade to a 4, so I think the 11 is where they'll stay. That's OK, though, it keeps them right across the hall from us, which is nice. They have never cruised before, so I'm sure they will be happy with whatever they get, and they will probably rarely be in their room anyway. Actually, they're probably going to be in ours!

So how excited is everyone? Jimbo's group is very excited! What's neat is that we've been talking about the cruise so much that all of us had pretty much forgotten that we're spending three days after at Boardwak Villas, too. So we get to ease back into reality.

Does anyone know which night will be formal night? From looking at the nagivators for an Eastern itenerary on DCLTribute, it looks to me like formal night will be Sunday, which is also Halloween. This poses a bit of a delimma....

Melissa

Wow Last year NJ week the ship was full. I guess there will be more food and drinks for us.LOL

We are hoping they move Formal night to Monday but it is up to the cruise director. I guess we won't find out until we get there.
