I'm jumping on here because I am one of the early planners.

It is a big family trip so we have 18 - 20 people coming. We are planning August 10 - 16. Some are staying on-site and some are staying off-site in timeshares. I am planning on All Stars Movies at the moment.

Happy to finally have someone to count down with!

Hurray! It is so hard waiting for this August to pass so that I feel like we can be official. LOL! I recently booked and the countdown is about 406 days which seems like forever.

I know we are also planning on going to MNSSHP so I have been following this year's & crossing fingers next year is similar so I know when things drop. If they keep things the same we will be at one of the early parties.

I am glad we have time though to figure out the new Lightening Lane system because by the time we go, all the bugs will be worked out. Not that Disney won't change something up before then. :rotfl2:

I think for the first time we are going to skip MNSSHP.....we will see if the temptation is there to buy tickets though when the time comes. We have gone every trip and most of the time to two parties each trip.

Oh, I think that would be tough to go from two parties to skipping it altogether! Although, if not much has changed I could see taking a break if it is something you do often. Last year was my first time attending one (went in October). We have several people with us this trip who have never been & they all voted to go. It will be interesting how it turns out.

Commenting so I can find this thread once we finalize our plans! My husband and two children are scheduled to be at All Star Movies from 8/20-8/27, HOWEVER my parents have decided to join us, and have offered to pay for us to upgrade to a deluxe resort so we can all be together :D I just priced out a bunch of different options (quietly hoping for Contemporary, though I will be overjoyed with whatever they choose), so hopefully we can make the reservation soon!

My first trip with my family back in 2005 was at the Contemporary! Loved being able to walk to Magic Kingdom. Hopefully, you will find out where you get to stay. How exciting for you.

Almost 1 year now! 368 days for me!! Woo Hoo!!! I am probably going to have to change my resort now though as my husband plans on coming and we will need more space. Still at the All-Stars but will have to see about getting a Suite which I think Music is the one that has those. I haven't done anything yet though because it is still iffy.

I have been watching this year's MNSSHP thread though and already sent out a warning to everyone when what would be our date sold out. That tickets will need to be bought before then or too bad, so sad for them.

Got our After Hour tickets! Going to skip MNSSHP this trip and do AH instead. Two at HS and one at Epcot.

It looks like only 1 of the dates work for AH for us and it would be EPCOT. I'm not so sure we will want to do that as it is another extra expense. I am going to put it out there on our family group page because I am wondering is going to the park that has the AH going to be lower crowds that day? Similar to going to MK during the Halloween party is less crowded. I think that Thursday is already our EPCOT day but who knows.

We just got back this week from having 1 day at Magic Kingdom and this was basically a test run. We know things have to change around now due to some of the younger adults work schedules. The dates are the same but which park we are visiting when may change.

We got back last Friday for our yearly August trip. Had a great time! Put us in for next year. Looking around 8/17-29. Have to wait till January to book but hoping for BWV.

I just finished writing a very quick trip report for my mini sibling Florida trip that happened at the end of this August. Now I can focus on this trip.

I finally got my reservation changed to the Ft. Wilderness Cabins. I needed a day when I knew I had the time to do it as I knew it would take a while. Then the fun part was I wanted it to be noted to be near my daughter since they are also staying in a cabin and I had a major senior moment and could not remember her address even if my life depended on it at that moment! I was completely prepared with everything else (and the CM even said at one point "since you are an expert" :rotfl2:). He was able to connect us as I did have her name, phone number and I at least knew the city.

I just learned, if I am reading this correctly that with our move to the cabins, we qualify for the extended evening hours. I had no idea because I know it isn't considered a deluxe but I guess with the change to DVC - that is now a perk for those staying in one of those cabins. Who knew!

That's exciting as it can change some things around (i.e. we don't necessarily have to rope drop as much or at least worry about how I'm splitting up riding the coaster vs. not riding).

Also, going to be interesting to see what is and isn't available by next year. Seems we are going right in the middle of the changes but that's OK.
