Go George Go!!! I hope he and La Toya are the final two, and then he wins. :) I am SOOOOOO glad to see JPL go-don't know what anyone sees in him. Not my cup of tea I guess. lol

I would love to see George take it all too. He's got a good voice when he sings the right songs and his goofy, happy-go-lucky personality just lights up my day.:D

As for JPL - I guess it's like me loving Scott Baio as a kid - I've gotta believe my parents were shaking their heads and wondering HOW???;)

I know that Barry Manilow is the guest judge next week, but...

Are they singing HIS songs or is this the "big band" week that we heard about earlier?

I CAN'T WAIT! I AM SUCH A FANILOW!!!!!

Too bad they didn't do this last year. Clay would have kicked butt!!!!

::yes:: He sure would have - but they did all sing "One Voice" as a group.

They'll be singing Barry's songs next week - Barry was on Jimmy Kimmel last night, and said that Fantasia will be singing a "gospel version" of "It's a Miracle" - I have a feeling that it's a version he and his backup singers did a few years back - should be pretty cool.

Jimmy asked Barry about the "red-headed kid" and Barry hesitated, almost rolled his eyes and said "he's got a lot of HEART" (translation: "Now THAT'S a baby!!" LOLOL)

Christine: I've got my bib ready!! :hyper: :teeth:

Barry also said he's never met Clay - I think Clay and Barry on the show next week would be a FABULOUS idea! Barry could do the Darth Vader - "Clay, I am your fahh-thuhhhhh..."

I saw Barry on "Larry King" or one of those shows, and he said that he was really looking forward to working with the AI kids. He also said that he never had to audition for anyone to get his career going, so he understands how stressful it must be. It will be interesting if that little piece of information helps the "babies" at all.;)

Okay, someone brought up Darth Vader so I just have to say it even though I know it will freak a lot of people out.

I love George's personality - he just shines. His voice is fluid, and he sings tunefully. I'm not crazy about his voice quality though. I told a friend yesterday on the phone that - here it comes - I think he sings like Darth Vader. He has a rasp, or some extra breath flow - I keep wondering if there's something different about his vocal cords.

I'm really not trying to trash him because I think he's very likable and is doing well, but I can't get past the voice thing. Am I alone?

You're not alone, I totally agree about George. I like him a lot, but yeah, his voice is too raspy. Your Darth Vader comment cracked me up!

I guess I'm the only one on here that actually likes JPL. Yes, his voice wasn't the greatest, but he has a great personality and was fun to watch. John Stevens bores me too death. Diana Degarmo looks/acts like a Stepford Wife. One of them has GOT to go next week. I have no idea who I want to win this year. Last year, it was Clay all of the way. Anybody else feel this way?

You're not the only one...agree totally. Never thought he would ever win but I found him to be a refreshing alternative to the 'diva wannabees.' He seemed to be a smart, well rounded kid that took advantage of the opportunity as opposed to the overgroomed Diana.

Go George!

I meant to ask this earlier. Who is this Christina Christian?

Saw JPL on the Ryan Seacrest show. Did you realize that JPL messed up on the lyrics of his song? I didn't notice but apparently he did.

George reminds me of Gomer Pyle. He always has that grin on his face and I keep waiting for him to say well gooowwwwwly

I also liek Diana. They keep saying she is programed...but her family has done nothing that LeeAnn Rimes family did for her and look where she got.

I also don't think I would buy a CD from any of these performers. Christina was awesome last night..she sounded better then when she was a contestant. I would buy something she did from the sound of her last night.

I don't see what everyone sees in Fantasia...yes she sang great this week, but this is the only time I have enjoyed her. Her voice grates on my nerves to no end.

LaToya is beautiful and has a nice voice...but I wouldn't nuy her CD.

Jennifer, I can listen to but not watch her. The theatrics have got to go.

Jasmine is so pretty, but has had a few rough weeks.

JS...what can I say. I like him. I felt sorry for him last night. Knowing what I know about him and his voice I almost wonder if he isn't trying that hard. I wonder if he's getting homesick? He almost looked dissappointed that he had to stay last night. He has an amazing voice. He scored 100 singing an aria for petes sake. The boy can sing, just that pop is not his type of singing.

When do you think the non-elimination weeks are coming?? They are down to seven. I think one more round maybe 2 and then a non-elimination week.

Your guess??

What it boils down to is what you like even outside of the competition.

I liked JPL, like someone said he was the comic relief. Diana got on my nerves early because of the way she was so OVER publicized here in Georgia. So WHAT? I guess if I admired and deitized everyone from NY I guess that's ALL I'd be doing? Who CARES where's she's from, she's robotic! She reminds me of a wind up doll.

I'll miss JPL and think it was JS and Diana's turn to go. But that was the way it was with Camille for awhile. Who knows?

I am rooting for George, LaToya and Fantasia. The rest don't do it for me and that reflects my NON AI tastes also. I would buy their music like I bought last years Idol and not the losers'. It's preference.

Diana is really getting on my nerves. Her stage presence reminds me of a beauty pagent contestant, without as much talent.

I don't get why people don't like Fantasia. She is by far my favorite. I really like LaToya, George and Jennifer but Fantasia is something different. I love her voice, I love her sassy attitude, she is so different and just has it. My DH says that she is the only AI contestant that he would buy their album.

In a recording world with cookie cutter stars who flaunt their "booty", Fantasia is different with a sound you just don't hear. And I love that.

Just my .02 cents.

::yes::I totally agree, sharbear, but I also understand how some people are turned off by her personality. I personally like cocky people, some people despise them.

She IS different, so was JPL. I believe they said they wanted different and boy is she that. But she's also unbelievably talented, unlike JPL. LaToya is just as talented but bland. I think it will get her voted in, though.

Christina was on season 1. She came in 6th I believe. Simon admitted he had a crush on her. :) He was depressed to hear she was engaged. :)

I agree...and its not only her voice which I don't care for...its her whole attitude that I can't stand!!

I guess when I watch I favor the performers who's singing voice I like the most. What constitutes an AI? Obviously, a good singing voice is the first and foremost trait. Which age group are they supposed to appeal to? Are they supposed to be a pop-diva type? The type that can be "molded" into stardom? Since this is the first season I've watched this, I need some AI pointers!!

I think Fantasia is super talented and I like her but..... I hate the way she always has a comment to say to Simon if he says something negative about her perfomance. I believe she thinks this is what America wants to hear-someone being nasty back to Simon. Yes, Simon is rude the way he makes some comments, but he is usually right. The contestants should take his critisism and work on it.

Okay, now I remember. Thanks! I was never a big fan of hers. Since I taped AI, I just fast forwarded through her part. Maybe I should go back and listen and then again, maybe not.

I totally agree about George. I like him a lot, but yeah, his voice is too raspy

And it seems to get more raspy each week. I don't remember it being raspy at all in the beginning.

I don't believe it was raspy in the beginning, either. I think he is over-stressing his vocal cords and if that is the case, he needs to learn some compensation techniques before it gets worse. I remember in season 1, Kelly Clarkson was showing the same signs for a couple of weeks, but it did improve (obviously).

Sorry, I think John Stevens has to go. Poor kid. He did seem a bit shook up on stage Thursday night. Like he wanted to leave. I think it's time for him to go home. He only has one variety in his singing. I'm not a big fan of Diana's either. I'm surprised she's made it this far. I bet she'll be booted next week. Fantasia did fantastic last week. I'm a George fan too. Think it'll end up being between George, Latoya and Fantasia. Bye Bye John Stevens...
