Offical American Idol Discussion Thread

I thought it was strange that they focussed so much on Scooter Girl and SexPot Alan only to boot them both.

I second that. The judges pick some awful people...like the 16yr old with the red hair...he didn't do anything except forget his lines. O well...its all fixed anyway.

Well, to be fair to the judges, we only saw small excerps of performances. They've seen everything.

I too, am disappointed Scooter Girl didn't go through. I saw so much potential for her. Alan was a hottie, but not a great personality...and therefore it's probably good he's gone.

I liked the one girl with the pink hair though...can't remember her name though...but she did an excellent job. I also liked those two brothers...glad they have another chance!!

OK, so it wasn't Johnny's best performance. He did forget his words. But so did just about everyone else. And his voice is still very good. So I'm happy he got through. I'm glad Alan got the boot. I'm so disappointed Scooter girl got the boot. But I'm excited pink-hair and Miss DCL got through, too.

Waah! I miss Scooter Girl already. They just plain didn't like her. "You're too crazy, too much of a comedian", then all of a sudden when she tries to change up to something different they tell her she's boring and she needs to find her niche. She had her niche. I think Scooter Girl will get some kind of career out of this.

I, too was surprised to see them let go of Scooter Girl and "I'm Young, I'm Young". They both had great voices and personalities, but I guess they weren't considered Idol material
Scooter girl will definitely get work out of this, I CAN see her more on Broadway. The Young man will probably find work too, even if it's only singing on a cruise ship ;)

Good morning everyone!

Are pool girl and disrespect girl part of the 32? I couldn't tell.

I THINK the pool boy and girl got booted but didn't see the disrespectful girl in the group of people let go. But I may be wrong. She had a fabulous voice. I'm sure she learned her lesson.

What did you all think of the guy that kept begging? Saying how great he was etc? I think that is the reason why he was let go. Too bad. He had one of the best voices I thought.

Love Johnny too but I don't think he'll go too far. Even though he did forget his lines, the ones he remebered just didn't sound right with the song he was singing. He would be a great Harry Condick jr type singer

The pink haired girl's name is AMY. I liked her alot, too. I also liked the girl w/ the short blond hair who sang lead in the very first girls grour (they got the "O").

I liked Scooter girl, too. But, what I saw of her last night was "flat", she had no "emotion" in her voice. I hope she'll work and come back next year. With a little more training, I think she'll go far.

What really cracks me up is the way the guys "cling" to Paula every time they go into an elimination room! It's like they are "afraid" of all the kids! Paula is such a "mother hen" with them as well!:teeth:

So far, noone really "jumps" out at me. Last season, Kim L, Frenchie & Rub really "grabbed" me right from the start.

Time will tell!!!!

Maybe I'm mistaken, but I thought that Pool Girl and Pool Guy got through to the next round last night.

I'm not sorry to see Scooter Girl go. :o She annoyed me. Also not sorry to see Michael and his ego go home. (I am sorry to lose my eye candy Alan, though!) I think Model Lisa (pool girl) went on. I'm happy to see Young Redhead go on - I really like his voice. I don't know if he can get over his nerves, though - he's very young for this.

I'm not sorry to see Scooter Girl go either. She made me nervous.

Not sorry to see Alan go, who I thought looked like a big ape and wasn't very talented either.

The best so far is the girl with the pink/purple hair.

I just wish they would let these kids sing music that is a little more contemporary and fitting for their age group.

I just looked on the FOX IDOL website and saw that Pool Girl (Lisa Marie Wilson) made it, but Pool Boy did not.

As for Johnny, he has a nice voice, but I think he's more "imitating" older voices like Frank Sinatra, Tony Bennett, etc. It will be interesting to here him sing something more contemporary.

Here's the website with the 32 contestants. --

Looking on the website, Of this first group to perform I like Erskine- the guy with the braids and Katie- the girl with the short blonde hair. How about you guys? Who aare the stand outs in the first group for you?

I was definitely not sorry to see Pool Boy go home. He ego got on my last nerve.

I was sad to see Scooter girl go because I thought they were a little unfair to her. They told her she needed to not be so comedic and goofy, so she revamped her image and chose a serious song. Then they told her she was boring. No wonder the poor girl didn't know what they wanted!

I am looking forward to hearing Johnny sing something more contemporary as well.

How am I gonna wait 'till next week? :teeth:

Jennifer Hudson and Katie Webber--thought both did well throughout the audition processes that were shown.

I also like Brianna--she's got a different type of voice, but I like it--she just needs a bit less 'tude. Matthew Rogers, football dude, has a good voice too. A couple of others I enjoyed--Lisa Leuschner, Elizabeth Letendre, and Leah Vladowski.

It doesn't look as if the backtalk girl made it--based upon the photographs in the link above. Pool boy either--not that it breaks my heart--he made :crazy2: I'm just sorry Pool Girl made it through--would have rather seen backtalk girl.

Oh yeah, then there's the cut of Scooter Girl--what is their problem with "theatrical performance" appearances! I thought Scooter deserved another go. . . :scratchin

Can someone remind me how the competition progresses from here? I know there are eight performing next week, so I'm assuming four groups of eight, but is it the top 3 in each group that stay? And what about the three "judges picks"? That would make 15, and I thought the next round was down to 12?

4 groups of 8. Each group will perform (individually) each week. People call in & vote for fav's. The top 2 vote getters stay.

I assume there will be 4 wildcards like last year to bring it up to 12. The audience votes for one, each of the judges select one.
