Offical American Idol Discussion Thread

Didn't really notice Paula, except for the BIG bandage on her finger, WITH Polka Dots like her dress, no less. WHY would she have it IN a sling the last time? Agree with a lot, this Idol is NOT as exciting as the last 2, ala Survivor--gave up on that show too.:o I predict that Diana will go tonight, lets see if I am right.::yes::

I think the sling was to keep her arm still. With a bad infection, the pain would radiate up the arm and make it painful to move. After starting antibiotics, she would have better movement and be able to just keep the bandage over the site of the infection.

This week's Entertainment Weekly quoted Randy and Simon as saying that if anything really major every happened to Paula, she would insist on a full body cast.;)

Wow there was definitely something missing last night - John Stevens! The show seemed so different without him, and I just wasn't as excited to watch it. I wish he could have lasted just one more week, it would have been interesting to see what he would sing.

And Fantasia...yuck yuck YUCK! I cannot stand this girl. Her voice is just so horrible, I don't know how anyone can stand to listen to that. It's so screechy! And Paula with her crying at the end, I'm sorry but that's just dumb. I could understand if she was crying because it hurt her ears so bad, but because she thought it was so great? First of all, I wouldn't cry over any song no matter how great it is. But to cry over something Fantasia sang...
.

YEp! I so agree about John! we were always so eager to see and hear him that last night just wasn't the same!

I totally agree about Fantasia. She had to make a comment about how John coached her and then singing the song for her little girl. Just turns me right off!

There were some posts made about not being able to get through all the time. last week we called for 2 hours straight for John...got through a whole 19 times in that 2 hour span and he still lost. The girls tried to vote for Jasmine...gave up after 1/2 hour. The magic has gone for them too!

I don't think I'll be voting anymore and if Fantasia is in the final 2 I won't be watching.

Watching Paula Abdul's (pain medicated?) state is probably the most entertaining thing about the show right now. I'm not overly impressed with anyone. I really don't care who gets voted off tonight. For season one, I was blown away by Kelly every week. Last season, I was impressed every week by both Ruben and Clay. This year? ?? I voted for Latoya last night, but I'm not blown away.

bye George--I liked him--but he's not the American Idol--of course neither is Fantasia, Jasmine, Diana or LaToya

The saddest thing is that since there are only 4 of them left, we will have to hear each of them sing more than one song each week from now on.

Aw it's a shame it had to be George to leave tonight. I'm gonna miss him. Even though he's not my favorite out of the five, he's not my least favorite either, and neither of the two people I would have liked to see go home were in the bottom two tonight. We've all said it before and I'm gonna repeat it, but this season just isn't as exciting. At least last year the two national favorites were both very good, but between LaToya and Fantasia, LaToya is the greatest of the remaing four, but Fantasia's voice is nails on a chalkboard. So if Fantasia wins, especially after this season, I'd be reluctant to watch next season....

And for some reason, maybe just because I was in a bad mood last night, but I thought George's "Wonderful World" was much better tonight; it made realize how much I'll miss him, he's such a sweet kid.

When it came down to George and Jasmine, I knew I'd be sad to see either one of them go. I really have grown to love George. I think his voice is much better than the judges give him credit for. I think given the right songs, this guy has huge potential, and I'm hoping that lots of good things come his way. I think they will.:D

I missed tonight's show... who was in the bottom 3 with George? I loved George's personality but talent wise, I feel he should have been the next to go... :(

We said the same thing...George sounded better tonight. It wasn't as sad as last week though. While the girls looked sad it wasn't nearly as bad as the crying last week. I think George was a class act tonight...did you hear him tell jasmine "I love you"? He was so gracious.

At this point the only one I would be happy to see go ByeBye would be fantasia.

LaToya surprised me tonight...she went and gave George a big hug from behind.

I thought that was so cute when she did that! Besides, she wasn't gonna hug him from the front while he was singing ;).

QUESTON ON THE DAY>>>>

When George was singing his final song last night, how many times did the camera man close in on Fantasia????? Amazing. Reminds me of last year. AI has already picked the winner.

That bothered me too! I would never buy anything that Fantasia did. Now if LaToya recorded a CD with stuff like she samg on Tuesday...I might buy that.

AI is being not so subtle about promoting who they want in the top 3 and then the final 2...and of course Fantasia winning. I am very quickly losing my fascination with the program this year.

I so totally agree!! It should have been George's moment in the spotlight, but they kept showing Fantasia!! Very wrong!......P

Seems to me that Fantasia is constantly looking for ways to put herself in the camera's way!!! While George is not AI material, the man can really sing. He has a terrific voice. I could listen to him for hours. Sure can't listen to Fantasia for more that 15 seconds. She's just not my style. And I think that Jasmine and Diana are out of their league here. Good singers..yes. But not great. LaToya is a great singer. But is she AI material? I don't see it. I am at the point that I really don't care who wins. It will probably be Fantasia and that would be yucky. But no one really moves me as a 'pop' idol. Hope they do a better job next time of sending the right people to Holllywood. And while I'm at it...is anyone else getting tired of Randy? Even my 10 y/o dd says he's getting irritating!!

I swear, I honestly don't get you guys saying these things about Fantasia. Sure, she has a voice that some people may not like...so do a lot of popular singers these days.

And the personal attacks towards her...she was bawling her eyes out last night about George leaving, and all I see here are people saying what a publicity hog she is...For crying out loud, if she's THAT good of an actress, she is definitely in the wrong business, or else they should just start lining up the Tony awards for her right now. :earseek:

Look, she's not my favorite in the competition (LaToya sounds better on most things), but the girl is seriously talented....Oh, I know...shame on her for talking about her kid so much. I mean, just where does she get off being a proud parent ?

As for George...I thought he sounded better last night than he has in weeks, and Jasmine the Flat should have been the one to go, but oh well....Hopefully next week.

Sorry...I know I don't post on here regularly, but the personal attacks towards a proud mom (who doesn't, by the way, control what the camera does) and a bubbly, happy teenager (Diana) are just getting to be a bit much. Even the John Stevens haters (of which I was DEFINITELY a member) never got personal about it.

I was so sad to see George go, I shed a few tears for him. If he makes a CD, I'll be first in line to buy it! I was not surprised though.

This season does not excite me either. In season one I was a big Kelly fan, I remember sitting on the edge of my chair, literally, with knots in my stomach waiting for them to announce the winner. Last year I liked both Clay and Ruben (Kim Locke was my favorite), but didn't care which one of them one, so I didn't vote. This year I will vote no more, because now that George is gone, I don't care who wins.

Of course, that doesn't mean I'll stop watching LOL.

I agree with you wvrevy regarding Fantasia. I think she is quite talented, & I know if I was up there singing a song & it reminded me of my children, I'd say something too. However, I don't think that AI should allow the kid up on the stage. I also think you can't fake crying like she was last night. She was obviously quite emotional. I would say all the pressure that all of them are going through has got to be hard.

I think LaToya is the best by far, Fantasia 2nd, followed by Diana then Jasmine....JMHO

I will miss George, he is a class act. I thought he and Jasmine sounded better than ever last night.

I agree with Simon, I usually do, that Fantasia and Latoya are in a league of their own. Someone hit it on the head a few pages back, Fantasia is a love or hate kind of person, you either like her or you don't. Latoya is pretty safe, she's hard not to like. She doesn't have loads of personality but neither does Ruben. Both are gentile Southerners, I meet LOTS of them down here, and they are raised to be humble. It didn't hurt him, and I hope it doesn't hurt her.

I accidently voted for Diana :earseek: the other night!! I'm sure my vote got her thru! She has gotten better in the past few weeks and worked hard to get into the final four.

I think the next few weeks should be interesting.
