Yeah, they sing God Bless America instead. They sang it in game three, but I didn't think anything of it because they had that one policemen guy from New York sing it and I just thought they sang it because that's the song he's known for singing. Then they sang it again last night and I was wondering why again and the sports announcer said it was because of the word Stars.

Hey, if singing God Bless America gets the fans more into the game, I'm all for it. I'm sure Dallas will make a big production out of doing the national anthem on Saturday. Again, if it gets the fans going so much the better. I think you should stop worrying about what's getting sung before the game and worry more about this guy:

The save J-S made last night in the third period was amazing. Anaheim is thinking they can win it all and that puts them ahead of the other team every time they get on the ice. Who said hockey wasn't a mental game?

Tonight's game will determine if Ottawa and Philadelphia will have a long or short series. Again, it will be interesting how the Flyers play the entire game. If they come out strong and don't get the lead first, it could be tough for them to come back in the game and series.

Hey, BD, remember the '75 series? That's when Kate Smith faced off against Montreal's premier singer in Rogue Duset (I know I killed the spelling of his name. Oh, and put accents above the last 'e' in each name.)? Boy, he could belt out O'Canada big time. :teeth:

Correction: His names was Roger Doucet. (I was sort of close  )

We always make a big production of singing the national anthem :)

Well, I'm hoping coming back to Dallas ice will give the Stars the lift we need. I'm sure it's possible to come back from trailing 3 to 1 and win the series. Surely someone has done it before. If not, then the Stars could be the first :)

I know I'm optimistic but that's the way I've always been :)

It has happened before, but it's like the nail trying to move the hammer at this point.

Not to take anything away from JSG, but it's a shame that the fate of such a series defining game was set by Bill "better even up the penalties" McCreary. :(

My Canucks were behind 3 games to 1 in the last round against the Blues, and they went on to win the series. It's been done close to twenty times in league history, and the Canucks have done it three or four times.

Go 'Nucks!

Man, what a game! Roman was on fire last night and I hope he stays that way! 2 games apiece going back to Ottawa tomorrow afternoon. Tomorrow is going to be a great sports viewing day for me. My beloved Flyers play at 3 PM and then Dale Earnhardt Jr. takes to the track at Richmond Virginia for a 7:30 PM green flag start! To top it off, my wife and children were invited to go camping with the next door neighbor's wife and children for the entire weekend! This scenario has the makings of a beer commercial!;) ;)

Yes Scott, I remember that series all too well. My Flyers, coming off of 2 straight Stanley Cup seasons were SWEPT by Montreal (4 games to nil) who would go on to their second longest Stanley Cup streak in Canadiens history (in modern day hockey) (4 in a row). It wouldn't be until 1980 that Philly made it back into the finals only to meet up with another soon to be dynasty, the NY Islanders!

Game On!!!!

Sorry, just reliving the past. Heavy Sigh!

I grew up in Philly during the Flyers golden Broad St. Bully years. I can remember standing on Front and Westmoreland holding Flyers signs up as everybody came home from the games/parades. The cars were bumper to bumper and there were actually streakers running from car top to car top.
The local radio stations played Kate Smith as well as two corny songs, Let's go you Philadelphia Flyers and I believe Bernie Perant singing Baby how long will you keep me in the penalty box.

The Canucks/Wild game was supposed to be on ESPN tonight, but now they aren't going to show it because of the NBA playoffs. I'm so disappointed. A 9:00pm start on a Friday night, a game I could actually watch and not have to get up the next early the next morning.

Go 'Nucks!

Canucks win again! Yay!!!!!!!!!!! Bring on the Ducks!!!

OK, OK. I know that neither of these series are finished, but I really don't see the Wild coming back to win the next three games and the series against the Canucks. And although the Stars definitely have the ability to come back and beat the Ducks in the series, I really don't see that happening--the Ducks are just on too big of a roll.

Actually, facing the Ducks scares me. They are just so hot. I hope that the Canucks have the answer to the Ducks. Somebody needs to stop them. It will be the Canucks. I have faith in my boys.

The Devils short circuit the Lightning. Not surprising and now they get to rest while the Flyers and Senators go to at least 6 games and more likely 7 before it's all done.

Vancouver again comes from behind to win. Just shows you even Minnesota's defensive ways can't put a lid on all that offensive talent the Canucks pocess. However, the Wild seem to like playing away from home so it isn't over yet.

Now, can the Mighty Ducks of Anaheim put away the Dallas Stars today? Hmmm, if Dallas can get a TWO goal lead no. But, if Anaheim can keep it within a goal, I wouldn't bet against them.

When will the Senators and Flyers score some goals? The last two games have been a surprise, look for a good old fashion shootout today. And in a shootout, I think the Senators will come out on top.

Ah, Big Dude, you got the munchies ready? It's gonna be a good one! :teeth:

Oh Ye of little faith Scott! T minus 1 hour and 35 minutes until puck drop! My best friend will be here by 2. He is the chicken wing king (he created the best wing sauce this side of California, he is from the Buffalo area, go figure) so the wings (not the Detroit kind) are on the way. I have a plethora of beers in the refrigerator (none Canadien of course), went shopping this morning and grabbed a couple of boneless sirloin steaks which are marinating in a garlic lime marinade (I hope this post doesn't get moved to the recipie board;) ) waiting to be grilled between periods!

I made some home made salsa and a big ole pot of 5 alarm Big Dude chili! No ground meat for this chili, only fresh cut beef and pork cubes. I brought the LCD projector home from work last night so my TV screen for the Flyers game and the race tonight will be about 8 foot by 10 foot. Bigger than lifesize!!! (SCORE!!!)

I had such a peaceful sleep last night. No attitudes from the kids, no midnight bathroom breaks from my sweetie, just plain old fashioned feeling the cool side of the pillow sleep! (NICE!) I heard mention that there were some other kind of playoffs going on and that a hockey playoff game was bumped to show that. What are these channels thinking? Don't they know that hockey is the most important sport in the free world?

Anyway, I hope the Devils start to gather a whole bunch of rust with their extended wait. I think that Roman will do the job today once again and the Flyers will score at least 3 goals. I just hope the Sens will score less than that! So Scott, what are you bringing to the party today? I hope you have a great day/evening. I am officially signing off of the computer and going to stir the chili. Oh yeah, one last thing.........

LET'S GO FLYERS

What is all this doubt about the Stars winning the series, huh? HUH??? Well, we did some butt kicking yesterday...even thought I'm just now getting around to posting about it. I'm worried about game six though...we seem to get a little shakey on their ice. But I'm pretty sure if we can win game six we can come back to win the series. I believe game 7 will be played in Dallas, right? Well, we definately have the ability to make a comeback :)

Yikes! Will the real Roman please stand up?
While the Devils wait in the wings for the winner, I just hope it goes 7 and it's a tired Flyers team that winds up in the ECF.
As for the Stars, we'll have to see what happens. In the other series I'm still rooting for the Wild. I want to see my old coach Jaques Lemaire in the WCF.

I'm nervous about tomorrow. If they think that it'll be easy then it'll be over. If the Stars push it to game 7, I'll definitely take the Stars in a game 7.

Jeff, I know how you feel. We didn't seem to have very much luck on their ice. The only thing we can do is watch and wait. I'm pretty sure that if we can win game six then we can win game seven :)

Oh, boy, three games tonight! I've got a bowling banquet to go to so I'll miss most of the Ottawa-Philadelphia game but I'll catch some of the late games.

I think Ottawa's got Philadelphia right were it wants them. Again, the Senators must come out and put the puck in the net and keep the Flyers from scoring in the first minute of play.

Anaheim hosts Dallas in a must win game for the Stars. Can Gigy bounce back from his last game? Can the Ducks as a team swing the mommentum back? I'm sticking with my original prediction for this series so, Dallas wins this one and takes it back home for a game 7.

Vancouver would love to get this done in 5 and get a few days rest before meeting either Dallas or Anaheim. The Canucks have come back in the third period twice against a team you are not supposed to do that against. Think the Big Line will be big tonight and send the Wild back to the Minnesota wilderness.

If anything, each game has drama to spare. Game on!

Looks like it's going to be left over chili, salsa and a little bit of CROW for the Big Dude tonight. If only the game could have ended 21 seconds after it began then I would have felt much better! No predictions for tonight from me. I'll just be yelling like crazy for my Flyers.

Now Scott! A BOWLING banquet:confused: taking precidence over the Stanley Cup Playoffs? Come on dude!!!! Anyway, if you have a DJ I hope he gives updates throughout the night. If not, I could see you with one of those transistor radios with one of those secret service earpieces:smooth: I hope you have a great time at the banquet tonight. Good luck everyone!
