Offical 2003 Stanley Cup Finals thread (Finals start on Pg. 17)

Tonight's game makes me soooooooooooooooooooo mad! We had that game won and then they took our goal away from us. Then they tried to take another goal away from us! What was up with that???

First of all, that's gotta be the stupidest rule in hockey. I can understand it if it was someone from our team who interfered with their net, but we didn't! It was thier own team member who moved the net so why take the goal away from us???? We didn't do anything wrong. Technically, we tied the game on that goal and won it with the next. That was just so mean of them! Why, in a game THIS important, would they decide to take the goal away from us??? WHY??? Like I said, I'm so POed right now I can't even get to sleep.

WHY?!?!?!?!?!?!

Big Dude humbly bows his head and exits the ice into the locker room. The Senators beat my Flyers in every facet of the game and for that they get my props.

Big Heavy Sigh

Oh well, only 136 more days left until the 1st pre-season game!:D For now, I'll turn my complete attention to Dale Jr. and his quest for his first, of many to come, Winston Cup Championships........Of course I'll be flipping back and forth between the hockey games still going on. Now I don't have to get so emotionally involved. I think the Devils-Senators series is going to be a real doozy!

Game Over

Adam aka Big Dude

Only 1 for 3 last night. Don't use my predictions in Vegas people! :p

Ottawa is finally showing their talent after learning, over the past three seasons, the grit it needs to win in the playoffs. They totally outplayed Philadelphia last night. And, yes, I must now agree Roman is just too Jeckyl & Hyde for my tastes. I have lots to say about the Senators series with NJ but I'll save that for later in the week.

Vancouver? What the *Blank* happened? Total meltdown. Why did they leave Cloutier in the net so long? I remember a former goalie in Montreal who told management to take a hike after being left in a game like that. But, can Minnesota now go back home and actually win? They are only 1 and 4 on home ice. These two teams are really hard to figure out.

Okay, all you Dallas fans, remember the 3rd OT in Game 1? The Ducks had a goal disallowed on the very same rule as the one used last night. I for one thought the second reviewed goal should have been disallowed but I was unaware of the rule change. That being said, the Stars & Ducks played one of best games to watch in this year's playoffs. Great goaltending on both sides, great goals scored from both sides, hitting, skating, controversy....I was exhausted (especially after having a few with the boys during the bowling banquet ;) ). Yes, I watched the whole game and yes I need more sleep. But, as Bill Clement always says, "Sleep is overrated." :teeth:

A night off to recuperate and on to game 6 of the Canucks and Wild tomorrow night at 7:30pm ET. Thank you!!!!!!

Yes, I remember the Ducks had that one goal disallowed, but that was just game one...it wasn't really an important game. This, on the other hand, was a VERY important game...AND IT'S A STUPID RULE!!! The puck would've still gone in even if no one moved the net so what's the difference??? ERRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRR

So, are me and banaheim the only one's with teams left in the playoffs??
The Sens are in for a rude awakening if they think the Devils are going to fold like the Isles and Flyers.
#1 we have a defense
#2 we have the best goalie in the game
#3 we have the 2nd best coach in the playoffs coaching our team
#4 if there are any breakdowns see #2

Stars fans, you got jobbed, but imagine how the Sabres feel, a stupid rule that should have disallowed a Stanley Cup wasn't called, even though it was a rule at the time.

I'm anti-Wild, so Go Canucks Go!!!! A small meltdown yesterday, but won't affect us in Game 6. I feel bad that the Wild will have to lose at home, but they're probably quite used to it by now!!!

and I'm pro-Canadian, so Go Sens as well. I'm predicting an all-Canadian final.

I'm still here rooting for my beloved Canucks. Last night's game was horrible. I thought that they could still come back when it was 4-1 (the Canucks are definitely a come from behind kind of team), but when it got to be 5-1 and 6-1, I knew it was over.

I think the Canucks will win the series tomorrow night in Minnesota. They seem to play a lot better on the road, and they have to save face for that horrible game last night.

Go 'Nucks!

Scott, did they change the game to 7:30est? I thought it was at 9:00. I would love a 7:30 start. These 10:00 and 10:30 est games are killing me! I am so exhausted right now.

You're telling me! I was mistaken, it will be a 9PM ET start tomorrow night. At least it's 90 minutes earlier.

Oh well. I guess I'll be up late again tonight. But, yes, the 9:00 start is much better than the 10:00 or 10:30 start.

Go 'Nucks!

Yeah Wild!!!!!!

Wooo Hooooo!!!

:bounce: :bounce: :bounce: :bounce:

Yeah, Baby!!!
GO, WILD, GO!!!!
Bring on the Ducks!!!

Anybody wanna join me in a verse or two of "The State of Hockey"?
...We will fight to the end
Wewill stand and defend
Our flag flying high and free.
We were born the child
of the strong and wild
In the state, the state of hockey.
:teeth:

How about the whole thing bananiem?

We were raised
With the stick
And a pair of blades
On the ice we cut our teeth
We took our knocks
In the penalty box
Our mother was the referee

This sport was here
Before we came
It will be here when we're gone
The game's in our blood
And our blood's in the game
Lay us down under
A frozen pond

We will fight to the end
We will stand and defend
Our flag flying high and free
We were born the child
Of the strong and wild
In the state the state
Of hockey
A big blue line runs around our state
A line that can't be crossed
The day they try to take this game
Is the day the gloves come off

We will fight to the end
We will stand and defend
Our flag flying high and free
We were born the child
Of the strong and wild
In the state the state
Of hockey.

If you would have told me before the playoffs began that the number 6 seed would be playing the number 7 seed for the Western Conference Finals, I would have looked at you like you were from Mars or in need of a good doctor's help. As truth, in this case, is stranger than fiction, this is exactly what we are going to get. The Minnesota Wild will be hosting the Mighty Ducks of Anaheim. Talk about irony. In the movie, "The Mighty Ducks", the team played in Minnesota. ;)

Is this Cup Crazy or what?

In the Eastern Conference Finals, we have no surprises. The two top seeded teams are playing each other. The Ottawa Senators will have home ice advantage over the New Jersey Devils. This is the deepest this modern day version of the Senators (history says the team from Ottawa called the Senators have won Stanley Cups) have gone while the Devils are no stranger to playing in June.

I will have more on these match ups later today. Now, all you hockey fans who've lost teams this week, let's keep this thread going! And, all you fans of the remaining teams, it's time to say why your teams will be in the Stanley Cup Finals.

Game On!! :teeth:
