We had a full week there. I have to say this is a trip for the young; we are older 58 up to 90. I, the 58 year old pushed a manual wheelchair for my mom. Doing this task over gravel, dirt, and stones is no fun at Colonial Williamsburg. We did three days at Williamsburg and we would do a day then skip a day there. I'm very glad our wheelchair has a safety belt. I felt Jamestown and Yorktown were much easier with the wheelchair. I think my gripe with Williamsburg is that there were buildings and such which functioned for looks and nothing more. If you know your way around or more confident then us I think I would go by car to each section at Williamsburg. There's parking available; you still have to walk some, but it's better than doing the bus. We did the bus; we didn't feel comfortable doing a car on our first trip there.
Even Busch Gardens was a challenge for us. The park is set up with way too many hills/slopes. There must have been a space issue with setting up this park. I didn't see the need for the hills. My hubby had a travel scooter. His scooter stopped running on one of the hills; the battery completely discharged and we weren't on low with the battery, either at the time. The slope wasn't that bad, but the scooter didn't make it. We got help out of the park with the scooter on manual. The scooter we used was a small travel scooter. Others had a park scooter and the bigger scooters didn't seem to have a problem. Our next visit hubby walked the scooter up by driving it without him on it. You can take a train which helps a little, but there are only two stops through the park. If you are going to see shows and do rides it is definitely a 2 day park or more.
We went to Washington, DC by private, tour car from Williamsburg and we did it because none of us had ever been there. I liked being in our own private car going exactly where we wanted to go and not waiting for others, ecetera like on a bus tour to DC. Also, I'm glad we didn't try this on our own.
I want to emphasize do this trip while you are young.
