ORLANDO, Fla. -- A teen was shocked with a Taser gun and several others were detained at Walt Disney World's Magic Kingdom theme park after they attacked officers responding to reports they were spitting at guests, according to police.

A Disney security guard said three teens and two adults who were visiting the Magic Kingdom from Long Island Sunday were spitting at guests and cursing.

When a sheriff's deputy responded, the five are accused of punching and kicking the officer and other security guards at the park.

The deputy said he was forced to use a Taser gun to subdue one of the teens.

All five of the theme park visitors were taken into custody and charged with battery on a law enforcement officer and resisting arrest.

There's another discussion on the DisBoard here: http://www.disboards.com/showthread.php?t=1460547 But I thought it was relevent since we have been discussing unruly teens on this board.

Can't be. OMG. I am outraged. Outraged that the reporter got the info wrong. Obviously, it is a misprint.

The reporter was confused. The only misbehaved teens I have EVER encountered were at Universal. Especially those cute, innocent girls. Girls would never do that at Disney. They are all princesses. :rolleyes1

All kidding aside, kudos to Disney security for taking care of the problem! I hope what one person on the CB said that they thought Disney was cutting back on security isn't true. Despite all the doom and gloom of rotten kids and teens on these boards, I have never witnessed anything more than what I can see in my local mall. You put that many people in a "destination", no matter how wonderful a place, there will always be some visitors on the wrong side of the behavior bell curve.

It just shows that a) it can happen anywhere and b) Disney AND Universal are almost always on top of out-of-line guest behavior.

:rotfl2: :lmao: :rotfl2: :lmao:

**Did the article say they were drunk???? nah....couldn't be! Isn't MK dry??? :scratchin ......

Do the right thing:thumbsup2

unfortunately, it's probably a lawsuit in the making, summon the ambulance chases forthwit!

my middle DS is a police officer, i shall keep me personal opins to myself for once as to not incur point infractionspopcorn:: but it's gonna be hard.:rolleyes1

btw, that would never happen @ WDW...they'd drag them down into the Utilidors and you'd never see them again.:rotfl:

Ah that disney magic. Got to love it.

This is not to flame but I never miss a chance to say "That never happens at disney" - well think again. Well it does but was covered up for many years.

imagine, crimes at WDW. Who would have though it?

All we hear here is certain people who are afraid for their safety at Universal parks and especially City Walk with third party innuendos and unsubstantiated rumors.

Disney is generally no better or worse than Universal but IMHO WDW is probably, statistically worse because of the size and number of people within the confines of Reedy Creek.

In 2006 Disney attendance was about 36 million while Universal was about 11 million. Using a 1% chance of crime thats 360k crime victims at disney compared to 110k at Universal or a 3 times greater chance of being a crime victim at disney again my figures and my statistics. Yours may vary.

exactly...:thumbsup2 can't agree more.....more peeps=more 'incidents'

When is USO going to get this new taser attraction? My daughter would do it!

Uh-oh..... I'm worried now. Can I still take my 6-year-old niece to the Magic Kingdom and feel safe?! What if we get caught in the taser crossfire? I haven't been to the MK since December 2006 ... has it turned into a safe haven for thugs since then?!! :scared1:

Well, that gives us a bit of ammunition.

Thread on the CB bookmarked for reference for the next person who comes here to say how awful the teens are at Univeral and how magical they are at WDW. Many nice examples of, how did one person put it?, "Teens Gone Wild" at the Mouse House.

But there are already a couple of posts over there ie:
How could anybody want to fight in WDW
And
How could anybody spit in WDW, it's beyond rude.

As bg4 said - statistically, you are going to get the bad apples. And unfortunately some really don't care if they are in a back alley, WDW or Universal to spit or fight. But it does seems the pixie dust and rose colored glasses are beginning to lose some of their magical powers as more and more reports are starting to come out of things happening at WDW.

But what I want to know is, who over here spiked their Kool-Aid? Come on, fess up. Who did it?

OMG - you guys are hilarious! This is another example of what funny, good-natured people reside over on this side of the tracks. Can you imagine what we would be reading if this happened at Universal?

That thread on the CB is just full of ammunition. I wonder how long it will be before someone says that they had probably just come from Universal.

Great idea - perhaps one of us should just go ahead and plant that in the thread - see where it goes :lmao:

Edited to add - I must be PMSing because I did go ahead and plant it in the thread :scared1:

It will be interesting to see if anybody notices the big Universal icon in my siggie and realize that I was being sarcastic :teeth:

You're bad.:rotfl2:

A girls gotta do what a girls gotta do.

The thread died at two pages. Had to get it going again. We know it would have been at 40+ pages and locked by now if this had happened at Universal :rotfl:

Got the first bite...

Similar incident happened at Universal - but THAT one was never reported. And it was bad enough that the police officer personally told the OP that if he didn't have his taser, the incident was bad enough that shooting would have been indicated.

Strange though, because the OP of that response is usually a supporter of City Walk. Perhaps she was just showing that violence is up in general.

---ooops! you beat me to it!

nope....2nd post after yours was "tazering at Universal last August" :rolleyes2 ...didn't take long to get UO involved...did it?

I know I'm in the minority on this topic but I really don't think we should be gloating - come on fess up, you're really gloating that this happened not just at WDW but at MK! Yes, maybe we should file the info. away for future reference, but let's not celebrate over such an unfortunate event.
