UGH!
Is there anything worse than being sick!?!?!

I have the throat/nose/head/fever thing and I HATE IT!!! DH had it last week and silly me can't keep from kissing him ;) So now I have it :( .

Oh, I know what is worse...watching Jaws 2. Makes me cringe because it is a wannabe Jaws!

(must be the meds talking)

So just wanted to say I miss you guys and hopefully I will feel good enough tomorrow night to come visit on VMK :wave2:

Awww, hope you get well soon same person sea star :grouphug: I wish I could say I know some miracle cure, but the only thing that works for me is lots of hot showers and chicken soup. Take care and make sure DH is bringing you lots of goodies ;)

So, about 3pm on Saturday afternoon, my house was either directly hit or else just VERY nearly hit by a lightning strike...My husband was playing World of Warcraft as usual on his computer while I was just sitting in front of my computer across the desk from him (I had just logged off of the Dis and VMK). There was this HUGE snap of lightning almost instantly followed by thunder that shook everything in the place, and I heard this very ominous POP! from my tower...Power went on and off for the next hour until the storm blew past, and when I went to restart the computer to do something online, I no longer had any connection! Since my husbands computer still had a connection, I wasn't sure what was wrong. He checked everything out (techno-geek-fo- a-living that he is!) and turns out that the POP! I heard was my network card getting fried!
Thank goodness that was cheap to replace!
But then yesterday afternoon, my DMIL calls and the call goes through to my cell phone which means that our vonage phone is out...Husband spent over an hour on our cell phones with the lowest levels of vonage tech support who do not understand how their router could have died (they completely ignored the lightning strike factor) until my husband finally got sharp with them and the tech escalated him to a higher tier. That guy listened for 20 seconds to everything we had done with the lower tier and said "Oh yeah...we've seen that before. I'm sending you out a new router." Geesh!
Now I can't help but wonder what else we will find not working in our house because of that strike. I haven't tried my oven yet but that has my vote for probability!
Anyone else been struck by lightning before? :confused3

Oh, and I hope you feel better soon too, Pumpkinfish! :goodvibes

At work we had a power surge through our phone lines and everything connected to a phone line burned out. Phone system, two computers, a fax, our security system and a credit card machine. I have no idea what happened but it causes major money damages and we were out of commission for a couple days until the new phone system was installed.

UGH! (part 2)

Still feel like a semi-truck ran me over. I am taking DayQuil since that is just about the only OTC drug my rheumatologist lets me take since I am on other meds. JeanJoe....Feel your pain! I tossed and turned all night!
I just hate being sick when I know I have to go to work and train new employees. Can;t I just lie down in the stockroom and sleep???!??
But I have my tissues, my throat drops, and my orange juice. Mix that with my loving DH who has been very patient with this fever-induced cranky woman...and it could be worse :)

Thanks for the well-wishes ;) :grouphug:

Oh, MissBelle, I hope you feel better soon. I know how unpleasant it can be to be sick and have to go to work. :(

Also, is it a sign that I have been spending too much time in VMK when: I am out running errands with DH yesterday and we decide to get some of those lovely 1-minute microwavable cakes, we are discussing where we can get them, and I say, "MissBelle said she got hers at Target, didn't she?" And he says "yes" and then laughs. Our VMK friendships are spreading out into our RL. :) Now we just need to attend a meet!

:goodvibes But you know what? That's a good thing! You can call me MissBelle anytime! LOL Dh knows that I was calling people by their screen names instead of real life names. I still call LoriR, mickeysmagic :) And the best part is, DH knows exactly who I am speaking of and he does not play!

So yes, I have come home from work. Decided it was better for me to rest and get better. The other managers were fine with it :grouphug: (thanks guys!)
However, when I went to get into my car I DID notice how FLAT my front passenger tire looked :( So I pumped it full of air and called my dad! I LOVE my father. It is so convienent having my parents living 5 minutes down the road! He was at work though when I called, which is 1/2 hour away. He very lovingly pulled out the screw (a screw I tell ya! what the hay!?!) and put a patch in the tire. So that was my afternoon! :earseek:
Now I will pour myself a tall glass of oj and lie down and rest.

how about when you go shopping you tell your children that you can't buy the lucky charms they wanted because you don't have enough credits for them

and if you read that and say there's nothing wrong with that then you are a VMK freak (im below that being a disney freak or is that above it?)

I would have to say being a Disney freak is good! Hello! See my name? :rotfl: And yeah, I can't tell you how many VMK terms I have been wanting to use in RL.

As I went to the stockroom today, I told the other manager, "brb". He looked at me like I had lost my mind!

What I want to know is if anyone's tried the classic VMK pick-up line, "Hey! u r cute. are you taken?"

Tried yesterday. There was a new addition to our Instrumental Music department who had a shirt that said "Sorry, I'm TAKEN" on it in big letters...and I couldn't resist. She thought I was even stranger than most everyone else though. I've noticed it's really hard to make a joke about VMK when no one else knows what the heck I'm talking about except it's the Disney game on the internet I'm addictted to.

Oh my, Fly... I didn't think anyone would have the gall to try that (granted, your victim had the shirt). Nice try though, LOL.

For some reason, that made me imagine a gathering of us in real-life, each of us with a T-shirt that had one of our old VMK sig's on it. Ones that come to mind include:

- "Future community loser!"
- "Tell your boy friend I had a good time last night"
- "Old, lame, and hate fun!"
- "I'm not taken. Looking for a cute boy."
- "Too old for you."
- "Lame and proud!"
- "Stop looking at me."
- "I accept gifts."
- "I'm out of my mind, please leave a message."

(LOL, and I bet a number of you know whose sigs these come from...)

Uh oh, this thread is getting dangerously "on-topic" for VMK. Somebody, derail the thread to random nonsense!

You forgot my tee shirt logo....

-"Lava Warm!" ;)

Oh and I did notice you have my "I accept gifts" on the list!

Wow, I am number 1 on the list!!

But it won't let me say loser anymore!!!!!!!!!

need to bump up with random facts

from a t.v show:

adults think that children are lazy (changes to scene as girl dressed as an old woman) children today are lazy lazy lazy!! (changes back to presenter) but let me tell you something:

ADULTS ARE EVEN LAZIER!!!!!

also we spend 120 hours a year in front of the T.V so when we are 70 we would have spent 10 years watching T.V

Here's my random thought vent for the day:

I am sitting at work when my boss starts shouting for everyone to leave and fill their gas tanks....NOW NOW NOW!!! So, we all rush out. I paid $2.71 a gallon when I filled up. Another girl at work gets to the same station 20 minutes later and it is up to $3.25. The prices have been continually moving up since 10:00 this morning, and it isn't supposed to stop until Tuesday or so.

All this and we are moving across the state this weekend with a 24' truck and two cars to fill up. :earseek:

Leaving for London for yet another conference in about 2 hours, but am feverishly trying to pack and remember all my stuff (where's that dang passport!?!), and yet I feel the need to say Bye to everyone here on the DIS!

It's a pity, because I was really hoping to post the picture DW took when she was in Russia of some Vinnie Pookh merchandise (in Cyrillic, translated over to our Roman alphabet). Maybe when I get back, if I remember.

Take care everyone, I'll see you all at the end of the week.

Fill me in on all the trouble everyone gets into when I get back! Bye!

i had some ice cream :)

now for some strawberries
