This morning i returned an 8 ounce pound cake to the store, on the basis of false advertising. ;)

Ok, several people have asked where I was October 15th through the 28th...Surferrat thought I was in WDW, and others just were not sure. I was in Cancun, Mexico for all of 4 and 1/2 days when Hurricane Wilma decided to invite herself to the party and then did not leave for 4 more days! We were stuck in a shelter in old downtown Cancun for a total of 5 and 1/2 days with very little food or water, which actually proved to be a good thing because this shelter (an elementary school) had no running water- thus you really did not want to have to go to the bathroom! The electricity had been cut off a full day before the storm hit too.

When the eye of the storm finally parked itself over us for something like 30 hours, the locals in the neighborhood began bringing hot pots of coffee and hot soups and freshly made tortillas. They even gave their own clean clothes to those who had gotten soaked when our shelter flooded in the rain. They really are just amazing people and we were so appreciative of everything they tried to do for all of us! We all helped them to start clearing the debris from their streets and sweeping water from their own damaged houses, but they were still more concerned for us! :grouphug:

I do not know how all the Florida and coastal residents can go through these storms time and time again- we were basically just inconvenienced on our vacation, but some of you lose your homes! :guilty:

People were wondering where you were. Check this thread:

I'm glad to hear you made through ok. Not the way you want to spend your vacation.

Now...this is one to ponder over...

How can a husband misplace a bag of brown sugar?!?

I went to make my oatmeal tonight...went into the pantry...and alas, no brown sugar! It was a fairly new bag so not exactly on the light side :confused3

When I call DH at work to confront him about this (since clearly I did not touch it since I had oatmeal yesterday, and I don't think our dog has quite learned how to open the pantry door and climb up 3 shelves...), and his reaction was "I don't remember what I did with it. I moved things around in there. No, I don't remember if I threw it out".

ARGH!!! :headache: Men!

Anyone ever been to Missouri?Thats where I'm from and I feel that I'm the only diser from Missouri.

Clearly it's time for a padlock, for which only *you* have the key...

...evil laugh... :rotfl:

Maybe he thought it was a bag of white sugar that had gone bad. :confused3

And he was merely trying to help by getting rid of it. ;)

Yeah, that's it, that's the ticket ..... :teeth:

Well, I live is Massachusetts and in a town that I am almost sure no one has ever heard about. It is so small! Everyone in it knows each other so if I were ever to see that someone lived here as well from the dis, I would most likely know that person LOL. (First I would be shocked LOL) This little town is named "Monson".

Well, I thought he might learn after watching so many times....you know, like a puppy? He did make the bed the other day. Nice surprise. Although, just because you forget to put the sheet on the bed doesn't mean that you should just put it on top of the blankets and call it done.

Sounds like my uncle. When he was a teenage my grandmother would tell him that he can't sleep on a bed without sheets. So he'd go to bed, on top of the sheets that were still folded!

Hi.

Just wanted to ask for some prayers, good thoughts, whatever for my son Kristopher and his school mates.

His Music/Band teacher was killed last night and two other teachers from his school were injured in a car accident.

Kris is upset naturally. What makes it even harder for him, was today was to be his first day of band. He had to be at school 40 mins early, left the house all excited then he got there to find out no band, and that she had been killed. His drum arrives tomorrow, I am nervous about whether that will upset him more with it being another reminder of her.

((((HUGS))))) to you and your son! I can't imagine something like that happening. Hopefully he still goes on to play....music is a great way to work things out. Maybe he will work harder to do his best at the instrument in order to honor the teacher. Turn his pain into something positive. Best wishes and pixie dust to you both :wizard:

Prayers for your son and his classmates. :grouphug: Things like this, though so hard on a child at the time (and even harder for mom to watch him go through!), can make him stronger and even more compassionate in the long run. My thoughts are with you both! :goodvibes

Thank you both.

I just learned the identity of the driver of the other car. I didn't know her personally, but her 7 yr old daughter is one of the students at the school I work. The driver had the 7 yr old and a 2 yr old. Her husband is deployed and was in Kuwait. He is on his way home. My heart is breaking for the kids.
I was reading her page on myspace and reading her blog. There was pictures taken on Halloween that she had just posted a couple days ago.

The music teacher didn't have kids of her own, but was engaged to be married with the wedding planned for just before Christmas. Her and two teacher friends were on the way to her fianance's daughter's bday party when the other driver lost control and they crashed. The music teacher just had her bday a few days ago.

Ok - its official - I really hate my job. I support people who are just so darn lazy!!! Sorry to vent but peeps are really ticking me off today!!!!

My heart is breaking for them all too. How very tragic. Will keep them in my prayers.

I'm sitting here working on school work, and one of our assignments is to write how effective the "twinkie defense" could really be. It just got me thinking how good a Twinkie sounds right now....and I don't even eat them :rotfl2:
