I know this is way off topic. We do have a disney trip planned for September but in August we've got tickets to some Red Sox games. When I was little we always stayed with family and they drove us to the subway "T" station. But family is no longer there and we have to book a hotel - which is fine but I'm just not up on Boston. I've goggled it and get many ideas but I am concerned with safety so I'm in hopes my dis board friends can help me out.

If you've stayed at a nice safe hotel in Boston thats close to Fenway I'd appreciate reading your experiences. I'm concerned with transportation once we get there. Thank you.

When my hubby does the marathon we always stay over night in the city,
we always have stayed at the Colonnade,

it is walking distance to Fenway, its nice, clean and i think the prices are reasonable. ( around $300 a night)
have fun!

Thank you very much. I've saved that website in my favorites. It does look nice and we would like to be close to Fenway. Price wasn't bad - around $259. Well....that was before taxes so probably $300 is right on.

Thanks again.:thumbsup2

Well, it's not cheap, but Hotel Commonwealth is right in Kenmore Sq, right up the street from Fenway (some rooms have views of Fenway)

Thanks - I like this one too. I've saved the website and will show my DH. Looks very nice. I like being within walking distance. Little nervous about the "T" - we live in Maine so we're not used to subways, etc.

Thanks again!

and if you stay there in august they have a roof top pool!
we are always there in april so never got to swim in the pool!

you can always stay outside of Boston but right on the T route. If you need any help PM me. I am from Boston. Grew up there my whole life. You can stay in Medford or Somerville, park at the T station for like $5 and take the T in to the game. Warning though- those trains are PACKED when there is a game!!!

Thanks so much for the help. I've checked out other hotels as well as those mentioned. We were going to stay in Newton and take the T in but sounds like walking distance is better. The prices aren't that much different from Boston - maybe $30. As soon as I can choose i'll make reservations. I'm sure the hotels fill up fast.

Thanks again.

Fenway is not too far from the Children's Hospital, (unfortunately, the reason we visit Boston.)

Luckily, we've managed to see a few games, and we have walked from Children's.

Places we have stayed, all near the hospital and Fenway... the Best Western on Longwood Av, the Holiday Inn on Beacon St., and there is a Howard Johnson on Boylston, located almost in the parking lot of Fenway. The HJ, (if they still have ownership) wasn't the nicest place when we were there in 2001, but was the cheapest and we had to go with it since we lived there for a month. On all return trips, we have stayed at the other two. The Holiday Inn has an indoor pool. The Best Western is located above the Galleria on the corner of Brookline and Longwood, and has a nice food court.

Can't help with cost, as we receive the patient rate.

Sorry to hear of why you're so familiar with Boston. I appreciate the information and will check them out. I'm glad you've seen a few games as well. I haven't been since I was a kid - I think I'm more excited then my DS9!

Thanks again and take care.

Thank you.

Actually, the little guy that receives care in Boston, DS7, is a YANKEE fan, hehehe, and BTW, he's doing great! He and our DD23 are huge Yankee fans. We did manage to get them to a game at Yankee Stadium, last July.

DH and DS10, are the Red Sox fans.

I want my own apartment during play-offs!
