Off Topic----Gulf State Park Campground question

Thanks for all the info, Bama Ed. I have made a note of the best times to go to Gulf and will avoid the winter months since I don't want to stay for the whole season. I guess I understand from the park's point of view that blocking out all those sites is good for the bottom line, but it seems a shame to leave only the high traffic areas - or the DDD !) available.

Didn't mean to hijack the thread, but thank you so much!

Ed, Desoto looks gorgeous! Unfortunately, it doesn't seem to have WiFi, which has become a must for us, due to our autistic son. He needs to be able to stream PBS Kids latest Arthur videos to feel comfortable nowadays.

I had almost booked Gulf State Park for last weeks vacation, but went with a Florida Park instead.

My husband is very much into Bass fishing now and heard Lake Guntersville is a great spot. I was thrilled that the State Park meets all our requirements: WiFi, 50 amp, big rig accessible, takes Amex and is on a fresh water lake. It almost seems to good to be true. And it seems to be only a three hour drive from home! :cool1:

Good thing you went that way because Gulf State Park's WiFi is basically non-existent. Their web site says they have it but the truth is the contractor went bankrupt during all the renovations and he had done a shoddy job on the WiFi. They keep promising they are trying to fix it but that story is old after two years. Hopefully they will fix it eventually with the place being packed they should have the funds now.
