I am dead serious! My parents have a home there and the bulk of the residents are part time residents who are the retired snow birds from up north. In the summer time the stores and restaurants have their slow time because so many people head back north. Now, I'm talking right in Vero Beach city limits not out along the ocean where the summer tourists keep the rest of the places busy.
DENISE!! Does your family never go to the Maryland / Delaware shore that is like 2 hours from home?! There are certainly rip tides & creepy crawlies there too! Same ocean doncha know!!
Everything in Vero closes up shop EARLY!! That was our biggest problem with Vero. Nothing open past 9:00.
We don't like the OC Seriously I am from the south and went to the gulf beaches. We took the kids there 4 years ago and they loved it. I like the Atlantic but just not OC in MD. There are more creepy crawly people there than creepy crawly critters in the water.

Ditto! I went to Rehoboth pretty much every year as a child and then took my kids there for a good ten years or so (until we bought DVC). I know Rehoboth like the back of my hand.
Though it is not as quaint as so many years ago, it is still quite different from OC. The wave action is the same, same critters, but the color is more... brown/green than the blue-er waters you find in the southern waters (Is there a correct way to spell blue-er?)
