P & P Party ~ Part II
We decided to get our groove on with a few sea creatures in front of Ariel’s Grotto. We danced the jiggy jig and got all jiggy with it Sebastian style. Fun was had by all but Lil’l Diz who stood that one out.
Next came Dumbo, with a minimal 10-minute wait. I had never been on Dumbo at night before. I do highly recommend it. You go above most of Fantasy Land and you see sparkling lights all around you. It really is breath taking. Again, Disney at it’s best. We headed to Pooh, but first I need a glimpse of a few ladies, which I’d heard had been making some impromptu appearances around Fantasy Land for the last few weeks. There was much anticipation that these ladies were in practice mode, preparing for their debut during the P&P Party. We found the wicked 3 all huddled together, causing a scene in front of the Play area. The girls were dressed in their ‘pretty’ ball gowns and the evil step Mum, all Step Mum’d out. They were bumping into each other, snipping rude comments and acting just as you would ever imagine they would, if you’ve seen the movie or read the book.
We had just enough time to ride Pooh 2 times, without wait between, before we walked to Main Street, via the backside of Pooh (this really is a not well traveled path to Main Street. The firework presentation was looming in on us, so we took a spot in front of the Castle, for what was the very best Firework show that I’ve ever seen in WDW. Lights danced, music sang and fire flew, all in the name of good conquering evil. When it was over the crowd sat still, almost as if they were all still trying to take it in. We were. It was breath taking. The kind of moment that left you with a tear streaming down your cheek and warmth in your heart. Knowing that you were holding your child in your arms as they just witnessed the very same goodness as you. A true showing of Disney’s Magic was left to warm hearts of those in the crowd that night.
Tink running amuck...playing Catch me, if you can!
Warm hearts were needed indeed, as the evening temperatures were steadily dropping. Most evenings we were in bed at this time of night. Tonight, a few thousand others and we were enjoying the MK, cold weather and all. I had layered my kiddos with long sleeved shirt, upon shirt under their costumes. Tink was wearing tights and pajama bottoms, while Lil’Diz had 2 pairs of pj bottoms under his costume. It was chilly. Given my ill state of feeling, I was most likely a bit more chilly than usual. As we walked to stake a spot for the 2nd showing of the parade we spotted little girl after little girl who were dressed in only their finest of Disney princess attire. Their mommies and daddies seemed to have forgotten the layer upon layer look. I felt sad for them. I hoped that they were warm enough and would get ill from their body temperature going too low. It was chilly. It was too chilly to not be sporting clothing on all parts of your body, chilly.
Before I forget, I must add that Lil'l Diz is dressed as Peter Pan! I know you all know that, right?
We were stopped and told how cute our children were several times this evening. Each and every time people thought that out Lil'l Diz was Robin Hood.
Poor Lil'l Diz was so confused by the end of the night, he didn't even know who Robin Hood was! (he does now)
We took a spot in Frontier Land for the parade. Ironically it was just a few feet from where we committed our Handicap Pad sin a few evening prior. Sorry about that… I, to this day feel like a heel for mistakenly sitting there.
DH tried to get a snack for the kiddos, while we waited for the parade, but literally NOTHING was open.
Nothing that is, but a small popcorn cart, which DID have a line close to a mile long. Instead of popcorn, we opened some of the many packaged of raisins, which we had been acquiring throughout the evening. Our kids had had enough junk (they’d been nibbling on the chocolate from the pirate booty bags) for one night and were well in need of a healthy snack option.
Before we could say Supercalifragilisticexpealidocious, the parade began. First came the princess’ to set the tone. When all of the goodness had come through, Evil attempted to take over. The best Pirate float I’d ever seen was approaching, almost looming towards us. It was adorned with real fighting Pirates, which was one the of the highlights of parade. Each float was Disney detailed to their finest. In all seriousness, these floats were of the finest that I have ever seen. The jewels, which were overflowing, looked as if you could reach out and grab them and place them around your neck.
The last detail and such a surprise was the infamous and hardly ever seen Tinkerbelle.
What a delight, it was to see her. Her appearances are few and far between in WDW. Rumors have loomed that she does come out often at DLR, but WDW she does not. Maybe it is the heat or humidity? I bet it is the rain? No, it has to be the Love Bugs…she is afraid of the love bugs?!?
As Tink left my view, I realized that my limit was spent. I was freezing cold (it was cold that evening, plus add in being sick…yuck)!
If I was going to be able to get myself out of bed in the morning, I would need to leave. Leave at once. DH & I decides to do a split. Lil’l Diz & DH were to take on the rest of the party, while Tink & I would return to the hotel. The guys walked us out to the main entrance, so they could take the stroller (there was no way in *heaven* that I was going to attempt the double wide stroller + Tink on a bus again…ever. Period.
Given that we were in Frontier Land, our exiting the park meant hitting Main Street, which the parade was still in route through!
Ughhh… It took, what seemed like forever to get out! When you’re not feeling well, everything seems like forever. But in reality we did get out, and in record time, I may add…thanks to all of my DIS knowledge! In no time, Tink & I were home in bed sound asleep. We never even heard the boys enter the room that night…well after 1 AM!
When the night was over, we had several little black velvet booty bags filled with treasures of beads & chocolates, 1 stroller basket filled with raisins, a very tired TInk and a tired and sick MOM.
The boys played until park close. They had a great time. I was envious of the special time that they had. The plan was that it was my turn to stay and play, while my DH took Tink home to bed. Plans don’t always turn out, as you want. I got sick. My DH got to spend even more alone time with our growing son. Everything happens for a reason. I am usually the fortunate one, since I get to see our son everyday, all day. My DH on the other hand is at work for most of the day. Although both of us totally appreciate our alone time with our children, it is he who gets less of it. Therefore, as much as I do wish it was, I who got the special time with Lil’l Diz in Disney, it was my DH who deserved it.
Here are a few pictures, my DH took along the way that evening:
This being our very first extra curricular event, we were very naïve of what to expect. Our touring plans were none. Myself being sick and I being THE family tour guide only made this event even more ‘fly by the seat’. Some may laugh this. Being such a Disney fan and all, how dare we not have a plan? We didn’t even know that we were entitled to enter prior the events actual start time or that we could have got at stroller, double-wide style, gratis. Clueless!
Will we do it differently next time?
Sure.
Am I glad we did it as we did this time?
For sure!
Why?
This was the 2nd night of the event. I had not heard any reports on this event on the DIS or any other Disney sites that I frequent. I browsed some info about the Christmas and Halloween bashes, but still was unsure just what we were to expect.
We enjoyed this party as Virgins. Untainted, without knowledge of what we were supposed to do. We did as we please. We had no place to be at any specific time. If we didn’t want to stand in line for POC for 30 minutes, we didn’t. If we had enough of the chocolates & raisins, we skipped them. When I tired out before my DH & Lil’l Diz, I left (with Tink). It was a simple evening. It was an elegant evening. It was truly magical…being sick and all.
UP NEXT: Our Final Day
Okay fellow DIS friends & LURKERS...Ya YOU! You Know who you are! If you haven't posted yet, please do. We are finally coming to the end. It will be over before you know it! PART I ~ PG 42, POST 625
