Hi. Has anyone stayed offsite without renting a car? If so where and was it worth the money saved? Any info would be greatly appreciated as I am trying to plan a trip for the end of Feb / beginning of March. I have never stayed offsite, and love the convienience of Disney transportation, but I keep thinking of how many extra days we could stay if we save $100+/day.Thanx a bunch

Hi !

We stayed off-site - at the Vistana Villages - and we did OK without a car. I would recommend staying on International Drive, so you can take advantage of the I-Ride trolley. A 7-day pass costs 7 dollars - for unlimited rides! Children under 12 are free!

Another great idea is to stay at a hotel that offers complimentary shuttle to Disney World.

I would definitely say, that you can save loads of money....

Have a great trip

Several years ago my dh and I stayed on International Drive w/out kids. We were able to walk to quite a few things(restaurants, Mercado, shopping etc.) and we used I ride which we had no problem with. Even though the hotel offered transpotation to the parks, it would have been nice to have a car for easier transportation. If you are saving by staying off-site, it might be worth it to get a rental even for part of your trip.

I've done it three times and prefer having a car. I agree with the other that if you stay on certain areas of I-Drive it's not as necessary but I like to get out and about in Orlando, my sister told me I know it better than my hometown!
