Hi

I know its ages till we go, but I am more excited today then ever. I dont know why, but I am feeling like a kid today. One of my q's that I have not asked before is what off site resturants do you recommend. I am a steak and rib lover, but dh is more chicken I would imagine. We dont eat sea food  the thought of it turns my tummy.

This year we are hiring the car for the full two weeks to explore other resturants other than Disney. I thought we might save some pennies for merchandise doing it this way. I am sure there are some lovely resturants out there.

Best buffet place: Golden Corral. Has places all over Orlando and they have special steak nights.

Michelle, there are loads of places we really like off-site. Some of our favourites are:

Friendlys
Bennigans
Bahama Breeze
Tony Romas
Wild Jacks (on I Drive)
Chillis

We have never tried any of the buffet places like Ponderosa, Golden Corral etc. as it's not our sort of thing but I've heard good things about Sizzler and Golden Corral (not so much Ponderosa though).

Also, you want to look at restaurant chains that have 'Kids eat free' offers between certain times. Dennys is one that I know of (we loved it on our first 2 trips but not so much last time).

Before I found Sweet Tomatoes, I would not contemplate a meal without meat, one evening give it a try, we will go 3 or 4 times in August, home made soups, best salad buffet in Orlando, imho, pasta, Ice cream, muffins and lots more.
If you register on their site they send you a buy one get one free voucher if you put your birthday in for a few days before you travel. brings cost down to $8.79 for 2 adults. + drinks.
There are just so many places to eat, you will find what you want.

I liked Tony Romas at the Dis Meet. I will definately try Tony Romas in Orlando.

Bahama Breeze looks nice. Especially the chicken plates. I think dh will like those. Chillis by far appeals to me. We love mexican food and those fajitas look lovely. I would like to have a choice this year. Last year we ate at WDW, dtd, hotel, PH and RFC. Although I like PH and RFC I have been there so many times it would be nice not to eat just at those places. This time experiement and save money at the same time.

Thanks Joh I really like those places. I will be adding them onto our resturant list :)

Michelle, one thing I will say - while Friendlys may be 'diner' type food, they really cannot be beaten for good food at cheap prices, fantastic ice-cream and, without a doubt, the friendliest servers we've ever come across in Orlando :thumbsup2

Hi

I am not really into buffets. Everytime we have been to a buffet cart we have over filled the plate to try certain foods and by the time you have found something you really like your full. Its always nice to have a freshly cooked steak or ribs. I wont dismiss the idea if it does mean cheaper dining due to free kids. I will keep those in mind.

Thanks for your help. Our dining plan is really starting to look nice.

Hi

At Sizzler and Ponderosa buffet restaurants the steaks are cooked fresh how you like it. You order your entree which is brought to your table once cooked and in the meantime you can help yourself to the salad and hot side dishes.

At Golden Corral, which I much prefer, you pay one price for the entire buffet and then go and help yourself to as much or as little as you like from a huge variety of hot and cold dishes. This includes roast chicken, pork, meatloaf, bourbon chicken and loads of other meats. There is also a chef permanently cooking steaks and you just tell how you like it and he will find you one done to your preference. If your still hungry, you can go and get another steak or 2 until you are full !

Hi

Some of our favourites:
Orlando Ale House on Palm Parkway at LBV
Market Street Cafe at Celebration and you can have a nice walk round the lake after dinner.
Outback Steakhouse next door to Premium Outlets
Cheescake Factory at Mall at Millenia - fantastic choice to suit all but definately leave room for desert!

Also love Tony Romas, Chillis and Friendleys as posted above.

Have a great trip :yay:

Josh isn't a great fan of restaurants but we really like the Outback, the fact that there is one close to where we generally rent a villa is ideal as they do 'take-out'.
Ice cold glass of beer at the bar and back to the villa, find it works just great for us.

Buffet type , don't really like Sizzler, Ponderosa is okay but can vary depending on which you one you are eating at, Golden Corral attempted to go there last year but Josh wouldn't go in!

Hi,
We love Olive Garden (lovely atmosphere, great food), TGI's (the Jack Daniel's sauce is to die for), and Hard Rock Cafe (for the atmosphere).
There is an Olive Garden and TGI's at LBV, not far from DTD.
Hope this helps!
Tracy

You dont eat big portions then Karen? Onion rings looks just about right for me:lmao: Not sure if I like look of the kebab

Surely NOT Wayneg  , we'd already eaten a few before I took the photo!, the kebab was lovely, the photo doesn't really do it much justice, and I'm a fussy eater!!

We plan to try these places when we go

Beef O’Brady’s
Ponderosa Steak House
Shoney’s (eaten here before)
Perkins (eaten here before)
sizzler
Sweet tomatoes
Olive Garden
The Melting Pot
Golden Corral
Outback Steakhouse

Hi Angel659 bahama breeze and charlies steak house are really good, race rock was fab but that has been sold,so it is closed:sad2: ihop was great for breakfast and ponderosa was fine and cheap, hard rock cafe at universal was good too.We are going back in 46 days, stopping at pop century cant wait!!
cheers david...

I quite liked the ponderosa for breakfast. I have never been fussed on paying loads when it comes to breakfast. Kids eat free with paying adult is a great bargain. Also when we had a breakfast buffet before it lasted till 18:00 then we had dinner. I think we had a portion of fries to share we all were not hungry.

Bahama Breeze gets a big thumbs up from us. The Missus swears by the Ultimate Pina Colada.
For ribs and steak though it has to be Wild Jacks. They do a combo starter to share which is ideal as a meal for one if you can't decide what to go for.
TGI's, next to the Bahama Breeze was also good for steaks, and the Jack Daniels sauce is certainly worth a try.

Our favourites are:
Golden Corral - one-price all you can eat buffet.
Outback - best for steaks.
Smoky Bones - for ribs, steaks, chicken.

There is a place in Celebration (can't remember its name) that is excellent
for most things - especially the blueberry pancakes that are absolutely scrummy! :cloud9:
