Off site hotel help

Will be in the area last weekend of Jan 06.
Are on a strict budget and would like your recommendation for a clean hotel near WDW. Would really like a refrig/microwave. A heated pool would be nice!

you need a car to do offsite.

if you aren't driving and don't want to rent a car - then stay onsite at Disney.

the value resorts are nice. and with DME (disney's magical express) Disney will take you back and forth to the airport for free.

from a DVC pwner..studio at OKW only "costs" 8 points/night...which works out to $80-90/night, no tax.

You can still do DME, like spicey said

Oopps, just saw that you're thinking of a weekend..the 8 points/night is only Sun-Thursday nights...weekends are a little more $$

Try the Hampton Inn, Maingate West, off of Hwy 192. We were last there in December 2004 for around $60-$70 per night. Room with two queen beds, microwave/refrigerator. Complementary breakfast with hot items (sometimes eggs/sausages, sometimes pancakes or french toast), fresh fruit, lots of juice, milk, coffee, muffins, donuts, bread with toasters to use, etc. They serve fresh chocolate chip cookies with milk in the evenings.

There was a pool but I don't know if it was heated as we didn't swim.

There is a back road that takes you to the Animal Kingdom area of WDW in about 5-10 minutes so you don't have to venture out onto 192 or I4 to get to WDW.

We first stayed when they were quite new, in the late 90's, and really liked it a lot. It is starting to get a little bit worn, but is still a great value and the staff are friendly. The generous breakfast offering is worth quite a bit if you are a family (it's just DH and me but was great to not have to go out to breakfast).

The location can't be beat for offsite. I think you get to WDW as fast as you would from many of the onsite resorts (as long as you have a car). If you don't have a car, they do provide a shuttle but I would hesitate to depend on this and don't recommend stayinig offsite without a car.

the quality inn Plaza on i drive would fit the bill we have stayed there 6 times without any problems If you haven`t got a car they do transport to the parks.

You might try Tropical Palms. It is a campground but they have cabins and are decently priced. I have never stayed there myself, but have had friends stay there when I lived in Kissimmee since it was close to my apartment.

2004 - Fantasy World Club Villas- Loved it. We were a group of 6 with a seven and two year old. 2 Bed/2bath townhouse with washer/dryer and full kitchen. Also has a Pool/Gameroom and Bar onsight and Publix just around the corner. It was great. No real room service unless you pay for it but we didn't mind at all. Best of all only payed $75 a night last December
