We might be driving down the day before we check in to our WDW resort, and I'm looking for a good place to spend that first night. There are 3 in my family, but we're travelling with a family of 5 (including one teen), so options are limited. I'd like to stay somewhere in DTD, but I need to find less expensive options as well. Or find that there aren't any less expensive options (which is what it's starting to look like!) Any suggestions would be appreciated.

Unfortunately, I've never stayed off-site, so I can't give you a definate answer. I am bumping this to the top of the page for you, though!

Try Buena Vista Suites. Depending on the time of year you are going, you can stay for as little as $89/night for a suite that sleeps 6. They have a nice, hot breakfast included daily. Location is great - not too far from DTD and the hotel is on the road to Disney property.

I stayed at Buena Vista Suites in September for $89/night. Great place!

We stayed at the Grosvenor. If you get a room that does not face DTD, the price is nice. Seems like we stayed for $75 two years ago.

You may want to check out mousesavers.com. There is a section called "Preferred Hotels" and the author lists her picks of hotels she has either stayed in or inspected. There are normally mousesavers' discounted rates for each of these hotels. We have stayed at Buena Vista suites and Radisson Resort Parkway and they are both nice.

I agree.. Mousesavers always has some great deals. We have used Priceline in the past with great success...try bidding for "resort" or 4 star in the Lake Buena Vista area...we have gotten the Hilton at DTD every time for about $60.

We stayed 2 nights (before our Disney on-site reservations started) in Kissimmee at Hampton Inn Maingate East (1-407-396-8484). It was on Parkway Blvd - very convenient. It was clean, and they had a really good breakfast (included in the cost of the stay)! It was $86.45/night - and that included tax (this is a AAA rate). They had just finished some upgrades to the motel and it was very nice (we were there in June 2005).
Good luck!! ::MinnieMo

Thanks for the ideas, everyone. Unfortunately, we've had a change of plans, and it looks like we might be staying in the Valdosta, GA area instead.

We have stayed at the Hampton Inn in Valdosta several times. It is a WONDERFUL hotel. We have season passes for Wild Adventures and stay there several times a year.

That would be great, since I could earn some Hilton Honors points. :teeth: Do you remember which hotel you used? It looks like the one that would meet our needs (for the family of 5) would be the one with the conference center.

We did the same thing one year and we stayed @Courtyard by Marriott. It was nice for one night and we got a good rate.
