Hi everyone. We our doing our first trip to the world in May. Can someone explain how magic bands will work if we are staying off site. Are they worth it? Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

They work just the same as those staying on site except you can't charge items to your band or open a hotel door.

Their nice to have simply because of the convenience. No searching wallets or purses for tickets our fast passes

When you're staying off site, Magic Bands are pretty much only used for park entrance and using FP+. The only other thing I can think of that you can use them for is Memory Maker. However, you don't need Magic Bands for any of those things.

I believe you have to buy them when staying off site. I don't think there's anything you can't do with a regular ticket that you can do with a magic band when staying off site. I'm sure someone will chime in if I'm incorrect.

So given all that, there's no real reason to pay for them unless you think having a wrist band is more convenient than getting out your ticket for fastpasses.

Magic Bands are the one thing I like most about the new technology upgrade Disney is making. I'm not a watch wearer and they didn't bother me at all to wear them.

  1. MagicBands are available for $12.95 plus tax online or at select retail locations at Walt Disney World Resort and beyond. However, you will receive a MagicBand at no extra cost if you stay at any of the Disney Resort hotels or if you are a Walt Disney World Passholder.
