Off property groceries...

Anyone recomend any close off property groceries? Within a short cab ride.

How short of a cab ride?

There are quite a few close... the Goodings at Crossroads near DTD. But... they RIP YOU OFF!

We like the Wal-Mart just off of 192... it's actually not all that far from the Goodings... and it's CHEAP!

But, what you'd probably save on cab fare not going to Wal-Mart you could probably just use going to Goodings!

Have you thought about using Garden Grocer? They deliver directly to YOUR resort room. We are really thinking about using this service next year.

I would agree with the other poster and use wegoshop or garden grocer to have the groceries delivered. It isn't very expensive; you would save cab fare; and you save time. Even if you are not at your room when the groceries are delivered, the groceries can be stored (refrigerated and frozen, if needed) until you return to your hotel.

If you are doing this with another family, you can spread the cost of delivery between you. You just need to have your grocery list ready before your trip.

I recommend Publics. There is one that is down on 535 (I think it's 535), it is past downtown Disney, like you are going to Goodings (I completely agree with PP saying they rip you off) and you make a right, it's a few miles down on the left. There is also a liquer store next door if you are interested in some "spirits" for the room. We go to this Publics everytime we go to Disney and when I used to live in Orlando (and worked for WDW) we shopped here for groceries. The Walmart on 192 is a NIGHTMARE. Take some tylenol before going. It has been said to be the busiest Walmart in the Nation since lots of tourists travel there. I lived about a mile from that Walmart and drove 20 minutes to another Walmart just to avoid that one.

I've heard good things about the grocery delivery places but we would just prefer to go ourselves and stock up.

I second that Goodings is a ripoff. Not too far from the Crossroads on rt 535 is a Winn Dixie. Older store but cheaper than Goodings.

There is a brand new Super Target on rt 192 in Kissimmee that has grocery. EDIT- Actually there are 2.

I know Albertson's lets you fax an order to them and they will have it ready for pick-up. I've no idea how good their prices are, though.

Publix is pretty good. So are Target and Wal-Mart. Goodings is too costly, IMHO. But it sure is convenient!

Garden Grocer works very well and I highly recommend them. Saves lots of time and the prices are better than at WDW. If you order over a certain amount, the delivery is free. I have heard good things about WeGo too.

Another vote for Publix. If you take the DTD exit (Hotel Plaza Blvd) out of the WDW resort, take a right on 535/Apopka Vineland. You'll go a couple of miles until you get to Sand Lake--take a right. Publix will be in a shopping center on the right. The deli and bakery are especially good.

Thank you all. Looks like the Super Target is the closest to ASM. We are a dance troup and our daughters will be performing at DTD on the 19th of August. We would like to stock up for a small party for the girls at the Resort.

Before you go, go to Target's website and at the bottom of the page under "Target Stores" they have coupons you can print. They tend to have a lot for snack foods.
