Itinerary - WDW 10/4-10/8, Gulf Coast 10/8-10/12
Persons - Mom (me, AKA Pack Mule) and Daughter (7)
Quest - Sleeping Beauty's autograph (daughter), relaxation and book reading (me)
Lodging - All Star Movies 10/4. Beach Club Villas studio 10/5-10/8. Bungalow Beach Resort, Bradenton Beach 10/8-10/12
Thursday 10/9 - Fun and Sun at the Beach
Sunny, Hot, and Humid today.
Well, we're at the beach! This resort is not quite what I imagined. The 1930's era bungalows are clean and in good repair, but they are closer together than I'd like. A single window-type air conditioner cools the bungalow well, but is it ever loud! We are boardered on one side by another bungalow, then the beach, but on the other side is the main north-south road of Anna Maria Island.
The beach is great - cool, fine white sand, blue-green water, and lots of shells. We hang out on the beach until mid-afternoon, then off the the grocery store for provisions.
Back to the bungalow to relax and order a pizza for dinner. Beer was among the provisions, so I have one, or was that two? Both of us are asleep by 9:30. I can't even hold my eyes open to read.
Friday 10/10 - We Get Educated
Cloudy, Hot, and Humid today.
A good day to go the Mote Aquarium in Sarasota. Saw some cool fish, got to handle crabs and other shellfish in a touch-tank. Saw a 300lb (was originally 500lb) preserved (dead) giant squid. It had been brought up in a fishermans net. The original eyeball (it's gone now) was as big as a volleyball! Went on a boat tour and saw dolphins in the wild. Daughter was tired after this excursion, so she took a nap. I sat in a beach chair, had a beer and chips, and read my book while listening to the waves crash on the beach. I could do this for days! Leftover pizza for dinner. And another beer.
Saturday 10/11 - Gnarly Waves
Hazzy, Hot, and Humid today.
Another day on the beach. Searched for shells. Blew up the inner-tubes we had brought (I flew 2 noodles down too! All fit well in a large duffle bag). Heavier surf today, so we rode the waves for hours. Late lunch on the beach chairs, then a little road trip for dinner and souvenirs. Had a Core Sundae at a Ben&Jerry's scoop shop. Super! Back to the bungalow to pack - yuk! Managed to get all the stuff back into the suitcases. Late to bed, but the flight tomorrow is not untill 11:40.
