# of "Units" still available at AKL?

I was wondering if there was anyway to assess how much inventory is still left to sell at AKL. After seeing the price go down for SSR, I'm concerned that if I buy at AKL now, once it's sold out, the resale price will drop like it did at SSR. Maybe I should just wait until it's sold out (and the price goes down) to buy.

Any thoughts or reactions to my questions?

First of all SSR is NOT sold out. The price of SSR is hurt by being the largest DVC. There is just so much supply that it hurts demand. Also, SSR lacks a truly GREAT feature.

BLT has monorail and MK
AKL has AK and animals right out your door
BCV has SAB and Epcot
BWV has Epcot and 2 room categories

One of the selling points for SSR was proximity to DTD, now that PI has closed, its losing some of its luster!

You forgot VWL, boat ride to MK and theming.

There is a lot of inventory left to sell at AKV. As far as I know, they haven't declared any of the Units in Phase 2 (everything beyond the second "bead" in the north wing) which represents about 50% of the resort. This thread is tracking the AKV Units.

Hi, Haven't spent very much time at DTD. What do you mean PI is closed?
Thanks, Patty

All the clubs and the like are closed. They are going to most likely but restaurants where all the nightlife was.

Yeah, I have a question, Why are you buying DVC? As vacation accomodations or for an investment? I have no intention of selling mine so I pay no mind to the resale prices.

reaction with time it will lose some value...no matter the resort!

Just to clarify if my original post didn't make sense...I do plan on purchasing for the long run. But since we're not in a super hurry, I was trying to figure out how much inventory is left with AKL (since that's our favorite). If it were to sell out next year and the resale price were to go way down (like it did with SSR), then we'd wait...

Thanks for the suggestions --

I can't see AKL going down. If you love AKL buy it sooner or you run the risk of the price possibly going up. If you plan to stay there most of the time, buying there will make it much easier to get a reservation there. You can also buy via resale.

Another theory is that it doesn't matter where you buy. Just book at the 11 month window at your home resort & then ask to be placed a on a waiting list for other possible resorts. This doesn't work well however if you plan to always vacation at high demand times: Christmas, Thanksgiving week, Spring Break, etc.

We own at BWV, but have stayed in every resort. We like to mix it up. The more flexible you are w/ your dates & plan in advance the easier it is to get it where you want to stay. Once AKL is fully built, it will be easier to get reservations there. It's the new thing, so everyone wants to try it out.

Good luck wherever you decide to buy. If you need a DVC reference, feel free to PM me or check the thread regarding this. There are different offers available if you go in via another DVC member. You get all the perks & we get a small one too for a referral.
