I am still working on my boyfriend with convincing him DVC is the way to go. Along with a lot of questions that I have - the main one is do I have to buy a certain number of points to have a resort considered my "home resort?"

I know we will need approximately 150-200 points for our needs. There are numerous resorts I am interested in buying into and was curious if we could purchase 50 points at all of the resorts we are intersted in to equal the 150-200.

Any information would be greatly apprecaited, I am still learning about DVC.

Thanks!

there's not a minumum to have at a certain resort. I do, however, recommend that your first 150 - 200 points be at the same resort so you can easily book at the 11 month window. If your points are spread about, then if you want to spend an entire trip at the same resort, you won't be able to book until 7 months in advance.

I don't know that splitting points between resorts is the best idea, though that all depends upon how you plan to visit. My best advice is to concentrate on one contract of 150-200 points at the resort you like the most. Splitting up contracts won't allow you to reserve a room 11 months out except on the contract for that particular resort. Now, if you plan to just stay a couple of days at a time a few times a year, that might work. Just my thoughts. Good luck!

if you buy 50 BLT pts, those 50 pts have the home resort priority at BLT at 11 months out. if you bank and borrow, you would have up to 150 BLT pts to use in a single year for booking BLT.

if you add-on another 75 pts at OKW, those 75 pts have the home resort priority at OKW at 11 months out. if you bank and borrow, you would have up to 225 OKW pts to use in a single year for booking OKW. BUT they are not worth a darn at BLT until 7 months out. your BLT pts are also not worth anything for booking OKW until 7 months out.

but both are considered "home resorts" (if only for the actual number of pts that you own at each).

there's no getting around the 11 month window. think of it like currency: if you want to book BLT at 11 months, you will need to "spend" BLT pts to do it. they can be banked BLT pts, current BLT pts, borrowed BLT pts or BLT pts transferred in from a BLT owner but they have to be BLT pts.
